Great western style hotel in a good central location in Kyoto. The rooms were small, but clean and well maintained. Housecleaning was superb daily, with clean towels provided. The front desk staff spoke excellent english and was very helpful in planning sightseeing and coordinating transportation. Two computers in the lobby provide internet service for guests. The hotel is very colse to food, supermarkets, but route, etc. There was a fridge in the room also. All of this for 7700 yen a night!!!!!! What a bargain!!!!!!

I stayed at the Palace Side Hotel for 5 nights in a superior double room. The room was very big by Japanese standards and very clean. The hotel is great value for budget travelers. It gives the feeling of a 4 star hotel with 3 star prices. Staff spoke excellent English. Breakfast was not included ($10) but we got it each day, it was buffet style and was worth it to start the day off on the right foot. Internet is only available in the lobby and if you have your own laptop you can plug it in and use the internet there. The subway and bus stop is a 5 min walk from the hotel (the best way to get around Kyoto is the bus...not the subway, day passes for the bus are available from the front desk at the hotel - well worth it), where there is also a McDonald's located...there are a few restaurants in the area and the hotel staff will be more than willing to help recommend some. The hotel is right next to the Imperial palace, where the grounds are open 24 hrs for visitors to walk around.

Stayed 5 days at ths excellent value hotel. Room was not big but was spotlessly clean and provided everything we needed. We found the location great - Very close to the underground and a acceptable walk to the major sites. I would recommend this hotel

me and my friends stayed in a triple room for 4 nights and were quite pleased. the rooms were very small as well as the bathroom but everything was clean and we didnt need much anyway. the staff was very nice. they have free internet on 2 computers in the lobby, a guest lounge where you can heat up light meals and watch tv or a dvd, and a good breakfast buffet for 1250 yen. the hotel is right across the street from the imperial palace and is only 2 blocks away from the subway. you cant beat the price!
