I stayed here for two nights in November and I loved it.
The only major problem we had was the rooms were very stuffy and although we advised the front desk nothing was done about the air conditioning not working. In the end I opened my window which brought in cool air, but also the traffic noise and pollution.
We emailed the hotel directly after we booked and they organized a return airport transfers (a stress free option in China!!) The car was there when we arrived with cold bottles of Evan, and the driver spoke a little English and told us some of the cities history as we drove in. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, whilst out walking to the city wall my father was mugged. On returning to the hotel we spoke to the front desk who organized a hotel security guard and a English speaking front desk person to take him to the police station. They went above and beyond then.
I went with my parents so we had two rooms side by side, the rooms were super clean and extremely modern (yes the glass bathroom walls are a problem if you're sharing a room, which luckily i wasn't!). The TV needed a few more English channels, a small thing but after a day of site seeing sometimes the only thing you want to do is watch a movie in bed. But that's a minor issue really.
There are plenty of restaurants to choose from on site, we went to the Japanese which was amazing as well as on of the others. Also there a re a few grassed areas outside within the complex you can sit and read or think, a rare thing in China! For breakfast we ordered room service and they were big enough for two!
The only other slight problem we had was when we checked in we asked if we could get a late check out. Our plane left at 3 and we didn't have anything planned for the day. We were advised that was fine, we could check out at 1pm when the car was due to arrive. But by 12 they were calling our room requesting we vacate. Apparently there was a huge tour group arriving and they needed our rooms. So not a big deal really, just a little annoying!!
If I ever return to Xi'an I'd stay here without a second thought. It cost us $80AUD a night which for the quality was amazing.
On the tour we did (booked through Viator) we were talking to the other guests who stayed at other hotels, and they were surprised at the hotel price and quality. Most were staying at the Hilton, or the Bell Tour and paying more then we were for older rooms, in tired hotels.
