“Western style hotel with chinese influences”

It is a 3-4 star western style hotel with chinese influences.
The rooms were good, the maids did a really good job cleaning the rooms [not standard practice in China].
The breakfast buffet was sufficient.
The hotel facilities like indoor pool and fitness center were mediocre.
The location in town is fine. You can walk to the most important sites in the center of Xian.

“Interesting experience”

I think we were early, but they did their best to let us check in soon after waiting about an hour.
They claim they upgraded us to a suite instead of a double room, seems quite a nice room, although I thought it wasn't as big as a suite.
They did entertained our request for a high floor, for views, although with all the smog in Xi'an there wasn't much to see really.
Quite clean, but unfortunately the next morning, the toilet blocked up and we couldn't use the bathroom.
We have been told that toilets do block up quite frequently in China, something to do with the fact they don't have an "S" bend, and also the bore of the pipe is too small.
Quite good value I thought, wouldn't mind staying there again.
Breakfast quite good, huge selection of Western and Chinese food.

“Free high speed Internet (that worked) 2 room Suite, What's not to love”

I'll start off by saying that i loved my suite.

Having read some of the reviews on this hotel before leaving, I wasn't sure what to expect.

We went as part of a 35 member group on a 10 day tour of China. We were in Xi'an for 2 days. It was a welcome experience.

Much to my surprise we had a 2 room suite. It was nice having a separate living area and a bedroom. Everything was clean and well decorated. The bathroom was top notch. I imagine this hotel was originally built to house members of the provincial government (who's "capital" is across the street). It seems like a "business" hotel.

The hotel itself was not PERFECT, there were signs of wear and tear (where you'd expect them to be) but overall it was very nice.

The service was very good, we ate in the restraunt 4 times, and had a delightful experience each time. My only complaint is the Bufett. There wasn't much selection, and the food was not the best. But our breakfeast buffett (included) was quite good.

Perhaps the best thing about the hotel is the FREE INTERNET in each room. If you bring your laptop, all you have to do is plug in the ethernet cable and you're off and running. The internet is fast and didn't seem to be censored (as we'd heard it might be). I took along a VOIP device that allowed me to call home (to USA) for free, and it worked perfectly while we were there. That was a welcome change from using the overpriced prepaid cell we'd rented for our trip.

All in all I loved it. I suppose if you expect total perfection you might be dissappointed. But if you are reasonable, and patient with the staff, you're in for a treat.

“Nice Hotel, Lousy Service”

The Hotel facilites are nice and have been recently renovated. The service at the hotel is terrible. When we checked in, they lost one of our passports. They insisted we had only given them 7 instead of 8, and refused to even look. Our local guide, after some haggling, went herself to look in the business center copy machine, where sure enough, the passport had been left.
At the restaurants, the food was excellent, but again, the service was lousy. It seemed that nobody knew how to even smile, such a contrast to all the other places we had been in China.
And to top it all off when we checked out, they accused us of "stealing" the "silk laundry bag" which could be purchased at the front desk. We had to go back to the room with one of the clerks and look for the missing bag, which was in the closet where it was supposed to be...
No, I wouldn't stay here again!

“Average, but probably one of the better hotels in Xian”

Don't be scared off by the 3 star rating, this hotel is ok. I'm just not one of those people who gives 5 stars to every hotel that is average or better.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in September 2007 for 2 nights as part of a group tour.

Our room was small and similar to motel standard. The hotel itself is quite small and pokey. The beds are rock hard, but that is the same in many Chinese hotels. The staff are friendly and do their best to help.

The breakfast buffet was good quality and good variety. Get there early because tables fill up fast!

The hotel is situated in walking distance to plenty of local shopping (including an entire street of mobile phone shops!). We couldn't find a grocery store or supermarket in quick walking distance, other than a small 7-11-type place just around the corner. We walked to the Muslim quarters (includes good market shops), the Bell Tower and the Drum Tower.

The hotel gym has minimal equipment. The pool is on the smaller side but fine for a relaxing dip.

We found Xian in general to be a charming older-style Chinese city with a lot of history and a different feel to more modern cities Beijing and Shanghai. The people seemed quite friendly and the shop owners are helpful and not pushy.
