I only stayed 1 night en route elsewhere but would gladly stay here again. Great central location! The airport limo bus drops off & picks up directly o/s hotel. I missed the bus from airport (check for sched) so decided to try the subway (1st timer & I spoke only English). Airport info desk helpful; limited english but I got by. The hotel can be accessed to/from the Shibuya underground train station; didn't even have to exit stn to reach hotel. Follow signs or ask.

By U.S. stds, hotel is probably 3-1/2 stars. Clean, decent room, nice bathroom, equipped with good amenities. Room decent for 1, smallish for 2. I was upgraded to room with view & a massage chair - nice - nearly fell asleep on it especially after a long flight. Since price is reasonable, I'd consider booking a higher priced room for more space if I stayed longer.

You couldn't be more central than this hotel. Right in the middle of the action.

The lobby looks nice, but the rooms are a little small especially the bathroom. It looks like there has been attempts to upgrade the room furniture but I really think all the rooms need to be completely renovated.

The rooms were clean with nice bed linnen. Only 2 bath towels were provided and there was no in-room safe. Internet was free.

This is not your Grand Hyatt and certainly felt like a business hotel. The hotel service was ok. The reception did not greet or speak until she was telling me what my room number was at check-in.

The view from the breakfast view was amazing. The quality and variety at breadkfast was average. You have to ask to get your bread toasted.

The hotel has an overnight bag courier service and can send your bags to Narita- very handy if you have large suitcases and pick them up at the airport.

I choose Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu because there is a shuttle transfer
from airport directly to this hotel, it is quite convenient for me and
I only have 16 hours to stopover at Japan.

The Tokyo airport actually quite far to the town centre. It spent around 1.5 hours from the airport to Shibuya by bus.

I have booked a lady single room. When I reached hotel, it was already around 10pm. The hotel staff upgrade me to a big room which can accomodate for 4 person. Moreover, the night secene from the room is very beautiful too.

The main thing the hotel has going for itself is location. Situated above the Mark Plaza Mall basically atop of the Shibuya Station you are right in the heart of the city. It's 10 minutes by train to Shinjuku and 30 Minutes to Tokyo Station. You can also catch the Narita Express from here several times a day.
The staff's english was good enough and I got a complementary upgrade to an excel room on the 24th floor by just asking. Check in is supposed to be not before 2 pm, but I guess I looked that tired that I got a room at noon anyway.

The Rooms are clean and small (but not to small) and offer free broadband (no wifi though, lan cable in room). 3G mobiles work. Vending machines are availiable at the reception floor and smaller ones at every other floor.

Highly recommended.
