“Good location in Ginza”

Courtyard Tokyo Ginza

4 of 5 stars
Toronto, Canada
May 11, 2008

We stayed here at the Courtyard Tokyo Ginza for 3 nights in May and had a great time! The staff was very helpful and spoke proper english (even though any of our attempts at Japanese was also well-received). The location is off a little bit from the main shopping streets in Ginza which is fine since we could take a morning walk to burn off the English or Japanese breakfast we had at the hotel (it is a bit pricey though we did use vouchers).

The gym facilities are good but i don't like when having to pay for internet after paying XXX dollars for a hotel.

It's only about a 10 min walk to Tsukiji Fish Market which was amazing to see at breakfast time, the lines of people to get into certain food stalls was something else! It's also a 5 min walk to the subway station from which you could jump off to any location in Tokyo, very easy!

Would i stay there again? Definitely but next time, im going to try another location in Tokyo, maybe Roppongi or Shinjuku just to be able to explore those areas.

“Comfortable hotel in Tokyo”

Courtyard Tokyo Ginza

4 of 5 stars
Basel, Switzerland
May 6, 2008

This comfortable hotel in the Marriott chain has the amenities you would expect and is a good location for seeing Tokyo. The concierge speaks excellent English (and German) and had fact sheets on many of the popular sites. The Kabuki-za Theatre is 4 minutes away by walking and Ginza shopping about the same. The Hamarikyu Gardens are also very close, which is handy for a Sumida River boat trip. The breakfast buffet had a very good selection of hot and cold foods; scrambled eggs with bacon etc.
The room was very clean and the beds superbly comfortable. Also helpful is the airport bus to Narita which departs from the hotel and proceeds directly to the airport (3,000 Yen).

“Great Tokyo Hotel”

Courtyard Tokyo Ginza

5 of 5 stars
Los Angeles, California

This was the 2nd time I've stayed at the Courtyard Ginza, for a week both stays; the first stay was in November 2006, which I also reviewed here. The hotel has changed ownership and been renovated since then. In 2006 I didn't think the hotel even needed renovation, but renovate they did and the rooms are even nicer.

This hotel is in a terrific location just a short 5 minute walk from the main street of Ginza and also 2 subway stations that will take you all over Tokyo. It's also a 10 minute walk from the JR Shimbashi Station which can get you trains anywhere in Japan. In fact, on my arrival I took the Narita Express to Tokyo Station, then walked right across the same platform to take the Yamanote Line to Shimbashi Station and walked 10 minutes to the hotel - a total of 80 minutes from Narita - sure beats the bus in rush hour which could easily take 2 hours!

The staff was excellent and the room was more than fine. I paid about $250/night including taxes for a very quiet 10th floor room. That may sound pricey, but remember this is the Ginza in Tokyo, and in that context it's not a high price.

I wanted to go to the horse races and the racetrack is away from the center and not easy to get to. The concierge, a very nice lady, spent some time trying to figure it out and her instructions were perfect. I really want to compliment her.

The only thing I would caution is the breakfast buffet, last time it was included in my package but this time it wasn't. The price is $25 and it is NOT worth that much. It's a decent buffet, but nothing special - believe me, I've had breakfast buffets that were worth $25 and more, but this is not one of them. If your breakfast isn't included in the package, I would pass.

I didn't eat at all in the hotel as the prices seemed very high even for the Ginza. I did have some drinks in the lobby bar which is a nice atmosphere.

The WiFi in the room worked fine, it isn't wireless but they provide a cable. It does cost $10/day extra though.

In summary I love this hotel and it works perfectly for me when I come to Tokyo.

“Very pleasant experience”

Courtyard Tokyo Ginza

Stayed here for three nights in transit to Australia. Couldn't have stayed at a nicer hotel. Staff were very helpful and polite. The efficiency was unbelieveable, messges were delivered, baggage was co-ordinated and we were very well looked after.
Hotel was also lovely and clean with a nicely decorated hotel restaurant. Ginza area of Tokyo is also very nice, a little far away to walk to other parts of the city but there is an underground station very close to the hotel. Would definitely stay here again.

“Great location and friendly staff”

Courtyard Tokyo Ginza

4 of 5 stars

Just came back from my stay at the Courtyard Tokyo Ginza. It was great! The hotel rooms are not very big but that is to be expected in Tokyo (home of the most expensive realestate in the world). Our room was clean and had everything you'd need from an in-room safe to a mini frig, to free Internet in their Business Centre. The staff were always very friendly and spoke English well enough to help us get around.
Location wise, its pretty much central to everything else in Tokyo. It is located on a main street but you can't really hear much of the traffic below. Just a few steps to the fish market (about 10-15 minutes) in one direction and another 10 minutes walk to the main shopping area in the opposite direction. It is also a short walk from their subway stations.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who can afford it!
