Business serviceHandy again for JRail Pass travellers as about five minutes from Kanazawa station.
The rooms are so tiny I feel a cull of some of the furniture would be a good start in helping to make the rooms appear more spacious.
Junking the very Nanna bedspreads and following a minimalist decor could also improve the ambience.
Clean enough though. Did not eat in the hotel so unable to give guidance.

ServiceWe stayed in a double room at the Castle Inn Kanazawa for two nights on a room only basis.
Value: The Castle Inn seems to offer pretty good value, given that it offers free internet access and in-room tea and coffee facilities.
Accommodation: The rooms are quite spacious, by Japanese standards, and the en-suite is fairly large compared to other places we stayed in Japan. The decor is typical mid-range hotel. Each room comes equipped with a fridge, air-con and TV (Japanese only) and a small table and chairs.
Some of the desk staff speak good English. Communal areas are pleasant and there are vending machines in the lobby if you fancy a drink. There is a restaurant, however as we did not try it we cannot offer any comment.
Location: About 5 minutes walk from Kanazawa JR station (and central bus station) the hotel is well located for public transport and is within walking distance of many of the main sights. There are various restaurants, coffee shops and convenience stores within walking distance, plus the nearby station and attached department store boast food courts full of restaurants.
This is a good quality mid-range hotel which offers reasonable value for money.
We don't normally recommend restaurants when we review hotels as tastes vary so widely - however in this instance we will make an exception. Just inside the main entrance to Omicho Market there is a very small conveyor sushi restaurant (the only one in the market, I think) - its name is only in Japanese and there is no English signage or menu. If you like sushi then try and find this place (you will probably be able to tell it from the queue out the door) - its serves the freshest, best quality sushi we have ever tasted. It's only open for lunch and closed on Sunday.

ServiceWe booked 4 nights in this hotel in Feb 07. We booked directly with the hotel because after seeing this on a hotel booking site, the price on their own website was cheaper! The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was looking rather dated and tired and not as spoteless and we'd become use to expect in Japan. There is internet available in reception but you have to ask the receptionist to open the door to the room and the old laptops do not have USB ports. Good location - around corner from station.
We ate at the onsite restaurant. We had soup which tasted like dishwater and tempura fried in old batter so can't recommend that. Consequently we didn't try out the breakfast.
However we had a quiet room and a good nights sleep. Overall a reasonable hotel for the price.
We sstayed in this hotel for a night on our way to the Japanese Alps. It is fairly close to the train station and the rooms were comfortable although small. Being close to the station taking the buses to the main attraction was easy. There was a convenience store and a laundromat nearby. Staffs were courteous and speak English fairly well. The business centre has free Internet access for guests. Theris a wonderful little okonomiyaki restaurant were two ladies didtheir best to understand our order although they spoke no English.
