Beautiful hotel with interesting rooms and designs. Very friendly staff.
Stayed at the Westin Nagoya Castle for only one night on 19 Dec.
Although it was only for one night, the hotel left a lasting impression.
Firstly, the concierge's English wasn't that good. When we reported that our room's aircon wasn't working, it took them a really long time to try and figure out what we are trying to say. In the end, they figured out what we're talking about and said that they'll send a technician over to look at it. No one came !!! Guess they must be thinking we are mad......trying to switch on the aircon in the middle of winter. Coming from Singapore, switching on the heater is the last thing in our mind.
When we tried to order room service for my daughter, they also had a hard time understanding what is a kid's meal. This is really surprising coming from such a well-established hotel chain.
Despite all the shortcomings and the language barrier, the rooms are very nice, clean and comfortable. One thing good about the hotel is that it faces the Nagoya Castle. So, if you are booking that hotel, make sure you ask for the castle view.
The restaurant's breakfast is relatively good. They have an assortment of local as well as continental breakfast. As we are not used to the typical Japanese breakfast, having bacon, eggs and sausages was a blessing.....unlike some other smaller Japanese hotels which serves only Japanese breakfast.
All in all, the hotel's lobby, front desk staff and room service are efficient and friendly.

Business serviceI have to say the only saving grace at the Westin Nagoya is the friendly staff. The hotel is in a desperate need for a facelift. The lobby and entrace are beautiful but the rooms re in horrible shape, and furniture is totally outdated. For someone who stays at the Westin and Sheraton hotels often I was utterly shocked when I saw my room. Since I only needed to stay one night and didn't arrive until 10pm I had no choice but to spend the night.
I did write a letter to the management and have yet to receive a response.
I attached some photos as the bathroom and small room in my opinion were not of Westin quality nor of a 4 star hotel quality.

Business serviceUpper class hotel, a bit out of the way from the railway station. The hotel provides a free shuttle bus between Nagoya station (bus terminal #2, ground floor) and the hotel.
View to the castle is awesome. Free wireless internet. electronic shower toilet. In-room coffee.
Good Eastern/Western breakfast buffet.
The Westin Nagoya Castle is an excellent hotel with a great location next to the Nagoya Castle. My husband and I spent our first night on a tour of Japan here, and really appreciated the comfortable bed and quiet sleep after our long flights. We arrived around 11 pm, and ordered dinner from the room service menu. The food was fantastic. In the morning before we checked out we wandered over to Nagoya Castle and easy 5 minute walk from the hotel. The hotel has an airport shuttle and a free shuttle to the JR train station.
