Fourati Hotel Hammamet Tinisia
Stayed there for 1 week at the begining of March 2008.
If you are thinking of staying at the hotel don't bother it's very old dated and in need of a facelift. (Not what is portrayed in the brochure). The grounds are very nice and the beach is wonderful but the hotel is terrible. Our room was ok but the dinningroom was old and smelt, the food was bad not much choice, food from the night before was being surved for breakfast ( if you can belive it). But the worse thing by far was the so called spar gym. I booked one of the treatments on offer I was taken to a room which was supposed to be a steam room It was cold dirty and I was affraid to sit down for fear of catching something. The indoorpool had pubic hairs floating in it the Jacuzzi was cold and only half of it worked tiles where cracked and it was very dirty. The gym (whitch was a very small room) had prehistoric equipment in it which was dirty and rusty. The outsidepool was ok but gas cylinders had been left by the side of the pool big weeds where growing through the cracks in the pavement the whole place was depressing would not stay there agsin. The staff however were lovley and I felt sorry for them having to work there. I do have photos and when I figure out how to upload them I will so that you can see for yourself what I am talking about.

“Stay at Hotel Fourati, 20/4/08 - 7/5/08”

My husband and myself arrived home on the 7th May, 2008, after a wonderful stay at the Fourati Hotel. We found the staff very friendly and they could not do enough to help you. The rooms were well decorated, clean and fresh towels etc. changed every day. The grounds to the hotel were extensive and well kept. There were two outdoor swimming pools and an indoor pool which were very nice. The food was well cooked and there was always a choice of different options. The bar was very nice and there was nightly entertainment.

Our bedroom in this hotel was disgusting, i have never in 60 years been given a hotel room like this one.It was damp very basic, very poorly painted, the bathroom was disgusting, it looks like it has never been decorated in 40 years, the wash hand basin alone left me speechless. I did not even open my case and paid to get upgraded within the hour. This hotel is not even a 3 star.

“Nice legs, shame about the face....”

Hotel Fourati

The hotel is set in a nice complex, with good pools and grounds, but the restaurant is tacky, and in need of refurbishment. The food provided for early morning starts was disgusting, stale bread and dessert pastries left over from dinner the night before. In a country where oranges are so plentiful, it seemed absurd that there was no juicer, and a revolting liquid called Orange Juice was dispensed every morning. Evening meals were fine, good choice from hot and cold buffets, although the soups were generally unpleasant.

Our room stank of stale cigarette smoke, which seemed to be impregnated within the curtains, towels, and bed linen, particularly the pillows - ugh!

Moreover, certain lights didn't work, and did not even seem to be wired up, so we couldn't sit on the balcony after dark. Again, decor in need of refurbishing.

As it was only for a week, and we spent 1 night away, we could put up with it - but we wouldn't return

“Loved the pool+ beach area food was boring”

Hotel Fourati

We have just returned from this 7 night holiday and after reading some of the reviews were aprehensive but once we arrived these worries were unfounded. In its day I would imange it was a 5 star experience but the hotel is looking a little tired now. our room was basic but clean with towels and bedding changed daily. We found all the staff very friendly and helpful but could be a little quicker with the service although the reception staff would not win personality of the year award but were efficient in their duties. the food was basic and repetative but edible. surrounding restaraunts Cascades around the corner and all the resteraunts in Yasmine Marina are are reasonably priced with superb service and food and are worth a visit to break the stay up without breaking the bank. The pool area and the beach are superb and so long as the sun shines this hotel is great. The bars are ok and the entertainment ok perhaps a little to holiday campish. There are other bars and hotels locally that can be visited to not make your evenings boring. It is only a 3 star and that is what you get. I think some of the previous reviewers seemed to want a 5 star experience and should have gone to a 5 star. We enjoyed our holiday and so long as you dont go with 5 star expectations you should have a good time
