Visited end of June 2008for 2 weeks. Got a poor room next to generator room. Staff brilliant- moved us next day. No probs. Food as stated in other reviews, tedious but always something to fill you up. Dontexpect bacon in a morning. Staff always very friendly, cant do enough for you. Dont forget the tip. Sister hotel next door has good pool with slides that you can use. Long queues at bars so use your grey matter and double or treble up.
Animation team work really hard and always have time for a chat.
Private beach with free sun beds pedalos kayak canoes wind surfer and catamaran for the sailors in you.First visit to Tunisia would def go back to this hotel.Few shops just outside hotel, few restaurants and a good bowling alley with strong beer at a price.
Camel man is a good laugh and so is quad man. Anthony the rep is like your best friend, always there when you need him. Always gives 101 %. Only went on one trip-Pirate Boat just like any other boat trip. You will enjoy no matter your age. Our group consisted 2 50yrs, 2 x 30+ and 2 kids. Did I mention that the pool bar stays open till 1.00 am. Also snacks all through the day upto midnight. Not one bit of trouble during stay. Mix of English. French, Germans and Russians. We all became adopted Spanish for the Euro2008 final. Never seen so many grumpy germans. New twist---they actually put towels on the reception seats to save for the match. Sad lot. Look read the other reviews, then ignore the down sides, book the holiday and enjoy.

Just spent 7 days at this wonderful resort and had a fab time. Normally just go to spain on holiday however thought i would try something new this year. Myself and Yvonne loved every bit of our holiday. Was a bit worried due to reviews i had read prior to going however now i have been i cant understand what there is to moan about.
The rooms may be basic, but they are spotless and equipped with what you need. (for all the time you spend in your room.)
The food is great and there is a great choice. I am a picky eater however had no problems as the choice is wide and varied.
The location right next to the beach is wonderful and our room had a sea view which was beautiful.
The staff trully make this holiday. They are very friendly and cant do enough for you. They are wonderful with the children and there is loads for the kids to do.
The entertainment team work had in entertaining you every day and gave plenty of laughs along the way. Where they find the time to rehearse, and sleep i dont know as they are constantly on the go. They constantly smiled and where always polite. In that heat thats a difficult job!!!.
The waiters in the restaurant where wonderful and again tended to your every need. The cooks too came out and chatted.

If you love sunshine, lazy days by the pool, eat and drink as much as you like and with entertainment along the way then you wont be disapointed. There is also loads of sightseeing trips and excursions you could take part in too. The camel man is always around to book your camel rides or if you want to go on the over night trip to the desert thats there too. There is loads more advertised throughout the hotel.

So all in all if you are thinking of going to tunisia pick this resort and hotel and you cant go wrong. Yvonne and I will definitely be returning next year.

Myself and yvonne did not venture out at night due to our rep advising against it due to us being 2 females alone. We did venture out to the shops during the day and you had to be firm with the men, however it has not put us off returning.

This was my first visit to Tunisia recommended by a family member and i will be thankful to them forever! The hotel was fantastic with the greatest of atmospheres. freindly staff who went out of there way to make your stay as perfect as possible. rooms cleaned to a high standard every day with flowers left on your beds and clean linen and towels daily, rooms are basic but nobody intends to spend alot of time in them.
The Animation team are a hard working fantastic team who work long hours producing some fantastic shows!!!!!!!! Sheryl and Kelly are fantastic helpful and friendly girls so full of energy!!! and then not forgetting the boys....... Zizo.Midou,Simo,Nagui,Hassen,Chico,Didi and the best DJ in Tunisia Bobo. and also not forgetting Sam who is excellent with the kids i did not see mine for the fortnight i was there!!! Also need to mention Rio and Macram who also work hard to keep evryone entertained.

A great holiday had by all again!

This was a return vist to dar khayam for us and we were not disapointed. Again all the staff were amazing and a huge thank you goes out to them for making our holiday as enjoyable as it was.

Cleanliness
Our rooms were cleaned every day, with clean towles and sheets daily. Around the pool was spotless, empty glasses were removed almost as soon as you had finished them and plates from the snack bar were collected just as quickly. The beech was also kept clean and tidy, as were the hotel lobby and reception.

Rooms
We were in the bungalows, again they clean. Ok so they as basic but they have everything you need. Beds, Shower, plenty of wordrobe space. The view from the balcony over the beach and sea was amazing!! The only downside to the room, and they whole holiday (I can't find another negative piont) was that the bathroom flooded very easily when taking a shower. Tv's were in all rooms this year too, last time we visited there was an extra charge for this

Food
Again the food was fantastic. There was always plenty of variaty. Food was available most of the day, if the main citrus resterant was open then the pool snack bar usually was. I would also reccomend booking ameal in the beach bar. In previous years this has cost extra however this year it is part of the all inclusive option. It is a set menu which you have to book at reception the day before you require the meal, it is a chance to be waited on and a different expreience to the citrus bar.

Facilities
There are plenty of things to do at dar khayam, our its sister hotel omar khayam. There are 3 pools spred out over the grounds with plenty of space around for sunbeds. The newest pool at the far end of the omar khayam (past the shops) has an orqay of slides. The hotels are set just of the beach, on the beach pedaloes are included in the price, but there are plenty of other water sports available quite cheaply form Imed. There is also vollyball and tenis nets, beach football, french bowels, ping pong and pool tables on the sports side. Inside the dar khayam is a massage and beauty parlor and within the grounds there is an hairdressers, bank telephones and shops(although these can be more expensive than outside the complex.) The bonus for us this year was that the omar khayam is now an all inclusive hotel too after been half board previously, this means that no matter where in the grounds you are you can get drinks with your all inclusive wrist bands.

Staff
I have left the staff until the end because they make the holiday what it is. The maids are friendly and always talk to you, to the best of thier ability. The barman and waiters are lovely and will do anything to please. The reception staff are wonderfully helpful. However the animation team are the one thing that makes the holiday what it is. They talk to everyone and don't leave anyone out. They work from 9am until 1am, when they aren't doing there daytime activity they are mixing with guests or practicing their evening shows. There is a wide range of daytime activitys to participate in however you are not pestered to join in, if you say now they walk on to the next person. The evening shows are brilliant, The sketch shows are funny no matter what language they are in. And the dance shows leave you breathless not just the guys and girls. They not only perform the shows but get guests to participate if the want to. The kids show was fantasitc and a lot of work went into it. How sam managed to get the kids to remember evrything, some as young as 3 is amazing. Sams worked tirelessly with the kids and whereever he was you could ensure he had a trail of kids behind him, All the team were fantastic so rio, midou, nagi, sam, didi, zizo, simo, hassan, bobo, kelly and new boy chico we thank you for an amazing holiday and no doubt we will see you all again soon!!
