We went to Tunisia for Christmas to get away from all the hassle!
We stayed at the Omar Khayam, i'd picked it from reviews on trip advisor, and i'm glad we did.
I hope you find my write up helpful and i'm the sort of traveller that has experienced it all, from 2 star to 5 star so my reviews are fair.

Good points;
The staff are excellent. Friendly and although they all speak french, communicated very well in english. I improved my french and learned a bit of arabic! The Animation team are there to keep you occupied if you want it. They are there from 9am to 12am if not later and work very hard to make sure you are happy, so be appreciative! A smile goes a very long way!
The food was second to none. The hotel is now all inclusive and it was a different buffet every day. ten out of ten for the food.There is a show or cabaret every night. Very funny.
Showers in the room will blow you away! literally!
We took £500 and came back with £270! We spent it on 2 trips, the laser and light show at Sousse is highly recommended! [--] and tips. These guys work for around 50p per hour but they do it cause they love it. We tipped half way through our stay and then at the end. 5 dinar (£2.00 approx) is what we tipped now and then, then 10 dinar (£4.50 approx)at the end to each person we got on with. That's a lot for them especially if they get it from a few people.

Bad points;
When you arrive, reception don't give you a run down of what's what. Shame cause you find out the important things at the end of your hoilday! like;
You can use the facilities of the Dar Khayam hotel next door, i.e indoor pool and gym, but you can't eat or drink there.
The rooms are basic, and if you are going in winter, ask for an extra blanket! No hairdryer available so take your own.
Not much to see outside the complex, but if you want to travel, get a taxi to Yasmine Hammamet ( 10 mns) shops are lovely. Should cost you around 5 dinar.

There is a small shop and bank on site, great to change into dinars as you can't get them before you fly out.
