i stayed at this property with my girlfriend on a last minute trip to drive her little sister back to college, literally called the hotel as we were preparing to leave, got what seemed to be a good price, booked it & hopped in the car. having lived in the albany area a few years back, i knew of the fairfield & have a friend who used to work there so i assumed it would be find, especially with the marriott tag on it. big mistake. the only saving grace of this hotel was that we arrived at about 3am & promptly went to bed. the room was sparse to say the very least, shabby accomodations and an even thinner mattress. the few hours of sleep i got here were very uncomfortable thanks to sleeping on what felt like a cardboard box. the bathroom was nothing fabulous either, and the toilet looked like it was ready to rip out of the wall at any minute. check out was also an interesting procedure - not because we ran into a problem, but because as we were leaving the room the fire alarms went off! this of course meant that the elevators were disabled & so we had to haul our stuff down the back stairway with the alarms blaring in our ears. upon getting to the front desk we were greeted with a snotty young girl who seemed annoyed that we wanted to check out, just took the room keys & told us she'd take care of it, no receipt or anything. in trips to albany since then ive stayed at other hotels in this cluster of them on washington ave & was far more satisfied. i dont know if these shabby fixtures are just at this hotel or reflective of all fairfields, but i would definitely never stay there again.

“Would stay here again!”

Fairfield Inn Albany SUNY

5 of 5 stars
Connecticut
Nov 28, 2006

We stayed here overnight from Saturday to Sunday - 2 adults and 3 children (5, 3, &2). The check-in lady was very friendly and gave us the code for their free wireless internet connection (which seemed to be intermittant). The room was very nice and clean, and the beds VERY comfortable, with lots and lots of pillows! We went swimming in the pool, which seemed to be also very clean and warm, but a little slippery on the tile when it got wet. The next morning we went down for their free continental breakfast - which was great! They had cereal, yogurt, eggs, make your own belgium waffles, toast, muffins, bagels, juice ,and coffee. A very nice setup that doesn't cost extra. My kids all ate breakfast and there was no complaining! Everyone seemed very nice and they asked if we needed anything else! Overall, it was a great experience and we would definitely stay here again! It's right across the street from SUNY Albany.

“Nice, Clean, and Easy”

I'm not sure what people are complaining about, but we've never had any problems at the Fairfield and have stayed there several times while visiting family in the area. The location is great -- right by SUNY, State Offices, and highway, and the room is very, very, clean. This is a pretty new property, and the bathrooms are always sparkling clean as well and the service good. No, it's not super fancy, but it's nice and clean, and has a very safe feel to it. We will continue to stay here again and again.

“Keep Your Money”

I fly for a major airline and had a unforseen layover in Albany and unfortuniatly elected to stay at this hotel..Where do I begin? Check in was a disaster...The desk clerk was busy talking with her boy friend so couldve cared less a customer was standing there. The room was not up to standards ie..Hair in tub and bathroom floor, dust everywhere and the sheets were stained with God knows what. The staff was totally non professional or caring. I am shocked Marriott would let their name be used by this hotel and you can bet I will be writing Marriott Corp. I was never offered another room or even a discount or refund.Could not even get the desk clerk to look at the room. Save your money folks and stay at the CourtYard down the street..Also be aware the Towne Place Suites next door is owned by the same francise.

I stay here at least 3 to 4 times a year to visit my daughter, who goes to college there. I bring my mother and we love the pool, the hot tub. They have cookies baking at night. Then they have a huge breakfast. Coffee, whenever you want it. Clean rooms, nice people, its worth the money.
