“Great Cheap Hotel in Albany”

Red Roof Inn

5 of 5 stars
Denver, CO
Dec 18, 2007

Stayed at the Red Roof Inn for two nights, Dec 10 and 11th 2007. I booked the reservation the same day as arrival on thier web site, and the hotel did not have the reservation when I checked in late that day. However, they honored the rate with no questions asked. The rooms have clearly been updated very recently and are much more upscale than the typical Red Roof. They had very nice bathrooms, real granite countertops for the sink area, all new very nice furniture, etc. To be blunt I was pretty surprised despite the good reviews that I had read on Trip Advisor. Also, when you sit on the matresses you can feel the springs working but were actually very comfortable when sleeping. Decent work area as well and a large screen TV (not flat screen - this is a Red Roof after all) However, some things to keep in mind - this is a Red Roof so no shampoo or blow driers, and the internet also does not support VPN software so business travellers beware. On other comments on overhead flight noise, I also did hear flight noise but not at night too late. This hotel, like nearly all of the others on Wolf Road, are VERY near the airport, and this includes hotels like the $250+ Marriott. Nearly all of the hotels on Wolf Rd are clustered near the airport, so if you do not want any flight noise, don't book any hotel on Wolf Rd. For me (and I am sensitive to noise in hotels), the flight noise was rare and not a problem. Will definitely stay here in the future.

“BLOOD in my sheets!!!!”

Red Roof Inn

1 of 5 stars
Montreal, Quebec
Dec 13, 2007

This was the most repulsive hotel that I've ever stayed in (having travelled extensively throughout the world and having stayed in some pretty sketchy places!). The place looked pretty tired when I checked in and I was a little grossed out to find an empty condom box in the drawer of my bedside table, but thought it was no big deal for a cheap, one night stay. When I got into bed, I felt something wet under the covers; I drew them back and discovered a pool of wet BLOOD in the sheets. Yes, blood. Not ketchup, not red paint, but blood. It was about the size of a dinner plate and had dried around the edges but was wet enough to have leaked through to the other sheets/blankets. Repulsive. I didn't stick around to find out whether there was a body under the bed or not. I would not stay in this hotel again if my life depended on it.

“Clean and affordable”

Red Roof Inn

3 of 5 stars
Boston, MA
Nov 24, 2007

We stayed there on Thanksgiving night and comparably was a good deal in relation to some of the other places on the same strip.
The standard King room is small but enough for a party of two. There are no hair dryers or coffee machines but there is a Dunkin Donuts about 50 feet from the building you can easily walk to. Bring your own shampoo. Tissues are of the folded variety that fit into handbags. We were on the backside of the building, which faces the airport. I could see some planes taking off and you can hear them. That's the only drawback. Bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Otherwise, the room was pretty clean and looks like they were recently updated.

“Okay for one night.”

Red Roof Inn

3 of 5 stars
Crowley, TX
Oct 7, 2007

Very basic and small. We got a great rate, but requested a non-smoking room due to allergies and they put us in a smoking room that had a "no-smoking" sign in it. There was a hair on the stool; but seemed to be clean otherwise. I always take a can of Lysol and Clorox wipes to wipe off door knobs, phone, etc. anyway for "peace of mind". Beds fairly comfortable. Airplane noise the next morning, but we got up early to get to the airport. The only reason I wouldn't stay again is they obviously can't guarantee a non-smoking room.

“Inexpensive, clean motel for short stay”

Red Roof Inn

Aug 27, 2007
2/2 found this review helpful

The rooms at this motel have been recently refurbished so they are in good condition with new carpets, furniture and bathrooms. We found the bathroom to be of above-average quality for a budget motel. The outside of the motel is the normal Red Roof style with exterior corridors. The motel was quiet the night we stayed. Overall a good choice if you need an inexpensive place to stay for a night or two.
