I had the option of staying at Conrad amongst other hotels with my Cathay Holidays package and I had looked up earlier reviews on tripadvisor. com before making my choice. Conrad was rated no. 1 amongst hotels in Bali and I wasn't disappointed one single bit.

The resort is located in Tanjung Benoa, just a little ahead of Nusa Dua in Bali and it takes around 25-30 mins to get there from the airport in Denpasar. The staff are really really nice - very friendly, courteous and always smiling.

Our room, which was located on Level 1 and had a view of the garden, was quite spacious, as was the bathroom with a big tub and a separate shower area. The room opened out into the garden - but the only issue was that it couldn't be locked from the outside. So to get to the pool, we had to use the main door. Not too much of a bother, but it would have been nice to step into the garden and into the pool!

The pool is where Conrad really scores above other resorts for me. The main pool is HUGE - so you can actually indulge in real swimming. Plus they have a lagoon that runs around the front of the hotel - so you can actually swim around the resort. Another great feature of the resort is the beach bales which are designated for massages - but you can even lie down and read a book or something if they are not occupied. Around the pool, the resort gives complimentary water and a very relaxing water spray, which in the Bali heat is much needed! I've never seen this at any other resort I've stayed at.

The resort has beach access, and the beach although nice, is not very big. But good to lounge around on and indulge in water sports.

Apart from the breakfast, I didn't really eat any meals at the resort. The breakfast was great - wide choice of both western and asian breakfasts and the setting at the Suku restaurant is also wonderful.

I did try out the Jiwa spa, which is highly rated apparently. The spa area is beautiful - very well done up and very peaceful. I thought the prices for the massage were a bit high, so I went in for a body scrub and bath. The scrub was a balinese speciality called mandi lulur and was very relaxing. The bath, supposedly a chocolate milk bath, was a bit of a disappointment.

Although the resort is a little far from attractions like Ubud (1 hour drive) or Kuta (20 mins drive), its quite easy to get a cab. There is one fabulous restaurant located just 5 mins away called Bumbu Bali, which is often the reason a lot of people visit this area of Bali.

All in all, I was very satisfied with my stay here and will definitely recommend it highly.

Earlier this year, before heading to the Aman near the Moyo Islands, my husband and I stayed at the Conrad in Bali for a couple of days as a stopover.

To my pleasant surprise, the place was great. There was a minor problem during check-in, when they lost our reservations for the spa - but that was quickly remedied.

We booked a Garden View room because we were there only for a couple of days and it was super cheap. Around USD 100 ish a night, which is freakishly cheap considering the other hotels are on average 300 per night.

As a result, I had very low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious, and although it only had a view of the swimming pool, it was pleasant enough. Food was very good at the hotel, especially the breakfast that we had.

I highly recommend this hotel purely because its a complete bargain. For the food, room and service, you cant do much better in Bali.

Check in : when we got to the hotel around 4 PM , the lobby just full of people checking out , so we decided to wait at the coffee shop..and then a Front Office officer came to our table and check us in while we're having our welcome drink (check in took 10 Minutes only )..what an amazing staff! plus complimentary Internet wi-fi at the Lobby..great!
The room : simple yet perfect, very clean , very huge...the TV was huge ( 42 inches) with 45 Channels , a DVD player (really you cant complain)
The Pool & beach : cant complain about the pool, it was so huge and clean , very nice, the Beach was not that nice to me cuz i has no wave, very calm..
The Food at SUKU restaurant : Lovely , lovely..especially the breakfast Buffet ..Wow , from Indonesian Food, Chinese Food , Japanese and Western food..you name it , they got it !..Yummy!
i had dinner there too..you'll enjoy balinese dancer while you having you're dinner so that's a plus for me..
and then before we check out, our toilet was overflow somehow..and then i called them , 15 minutes later the technician came and fixed it like 2 minutes and my toilet was back to Normal again!! ..now that's service!

We were on a four-night trip in Bali and we stayed for 2 nights at Conrad Bali. Only thing that we can say from our stay is that the service from Conrad is way below par to any 5 star resort or hotel in Bali. We have booked the hotel 3 months before our arrival and the hotel has asked for our flight details 1 month in advance in the pretense that they want to ensure that our rooms will be ready when we arrived. We arrived at 2.00 p.m (our check-in time) however we only managed to get into all our rooms at 5.00 p.m. When we requested for a late check-out due to the late check-in time, hotel staffs were not helpful, and didn't even bother to response or follow-up. Only when we have raised the issue to the resident manager, then they try accommodate that request albeit reluctantly.

We ordered noodles from the children's menu for the kids and waited for more than one and half hour before it is delivered. And that is after constant calling to room service to check on the status, the reply that we got every time we called room service was that the food is on the way. (We wondered where do they actually get the food from that it requires more than an hour to be delivered). When the food finally arrived, to our horror, the noodle soup is mixed with chili. When we complained that they have put chili into a kid's food, the reply that we got was that there was none. But upon tasting the food, it was definitely too spicy for the kids. We asked the staff to actually taste the food before they finally acknowledged that the noodle contained chili. So we have to order again. BTW, the hotel didn't even took the initiative to refund the noodle soup.

Upon checking out, we were shocked to find that there were extra charges (Service Tips was the description) on our bill. The staffs said that we have eaten in the Suku coffee shop and that we have requested the tips to be billed to our room. (Make one wonders, how could it be possible that we paid the food in cash and the tips to be billed to the room). Anyway, we asked the hotel to produce the signed receipt, since they insisted that there was such a bill consisting of tips only. After searching for half an hour, they couldn't find it and reluctantly removed it from our bills.

The impressions that we got from our stay in Conrad was that to pay the kind of money for the horrendous service that comes with it was definitely not worth it. The services that the hotel provides still has got a long way to catch up with the great, nice and clean rooms that the hotel provides.
