we stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and it was the worst taj hotel in terms of service! the rooms were clean and spacious but the staff don't seem to communicate with each other at all resulting in chaos when something is requested. in the restaurent the managers strut around looking important without actually advising the juniors as a result of which tables are left dirty, orders take a long time to arrive and no one SMILES or is actually pleasant to you. we ordered room service one afternoon and the food took about 45 mins to arrive and the dirty plates were left outside our room for nearly 24 hours attracting flies and insects even though were phoned housekeeping TWICE to take the plates away. we actually put in a complaint about the service in the restaurent. we had a massage in our room which they forgot to charge us for and phoned up later asking if they could charge it to my credit card.

My wife and I stayed here so we could tour the caves at Ajantra and Ellora. It was well worth the trip. We chose this hotel ,because there didn't seem to be much else in the city.
The hotel is desperate for a make over. The carpet in our room was very old, ripped in places and stained. We were afraid to take our shoes off. The room was very large though and had access to a huge private balcony. The mosquitos were too plentiful at night to be able to use this balcony however.
We found the food in the restaurant to be barely edible. The service was slow and inept.
If you want a drink from the bar, you have to go searching for some one to help. We would just make a call from the phone in the bar. Once you tell them that you're standing behind the bar using the phone, they show up pretty fast.
After you visit the caves there really is no reason to go back to this city so I guess we won't be returning. But, if we had to go back, I don't know where else I'd stay. It does seem to be about the only game in town. Think 1970's Holiday Inn and you'll get an idea of this place.

We had just spent 3 nights at the Taj Green Cove in Kerala and so the Taj Residency in Aurangabad was a disappointment. It was fairly clean and comfortable, but this hotel is very dated and has obviously not been renovated for decades. There was a lot of wear and tear, stains on the carpets, etc. The breakfast and supper buffets were fairly good and the restaurant staff courteous.

We were just staying there to visit the caves at Ajanta and Ellora and they were well worth the trip. We had heard that you needed 2 days to see them both, but with an early start, we visited Ajanta first and had plenty of time to see Ellora as well. The hotel arranged a very good guide, and a private car with hotel driver. Take a box lunch from room service because the restaurant the guide took us to for lunch was dodgy. We ordered some soft drinks to have with our box lunch and the drinks were warm. The waiter explained that there are regular power outages so they can't keep the refrigerator going. We wondered what condition some of the food would be in!

No glaring deficiencies here, but beyond being a place to sleep after touring Ajanta/Ellora, nothing to recommend the hotel.

There was an extremely noisy party in the central courtyard until dawn every night we were there. The management did not care that the guests had no chance of sleeping. Stay here if you are deaf; otherwise look elsewhere.
