We have just returned from the Grand Plaza Resort . After reading some of the bad reviews before we went I had convinced myself these reviews were from people that just liked to moan about everything. Oh no, these people were completly right.
The Hotel building and grounds are lovely but it's what's inside that's not! This is the only place we have ended up with food poisoning. We were ripped off £27.50 by the hotel pharmacy for pills which we later found out should have been 0.50p ! We lived off bread and lemonade for 5 days until we saw birds in the dining room eating the bread. After that we went hungry for the last day.
You can't relax by the pool as the salon/ massage staff constantly hassle you. I had my bikini bottoms pulled down by one wanting to give me a free trial massage. This would have been classed as sexual assault in this country! Warning , don't let them anywhere near you. The older massause is o.k but the young blokes are all just out to perv over the women.
There is no entertainment for the English here. Everthing is in Italian/ Russian so we couldn't join in anything. There is a kids club but again unless your small children understand Italian they might not be able to join in!
Don't fall for the scam by the bell boy, if you tip him he will tell you that he cant spend English coins (which is rubbish) and ask you for a £10 note and try to give you a £5 note in return. Not only does he want to make £5 out of you but he wanted to keep the original £2 we gave him. We had to argue with him and practically throw him out of our room.
This is the worst holiday we have ever had, it is supposed to be 5 star but is more like 2/3. Even on all inclusive you have to pay for expresso coffee and orange juice if you want them at breakfast. Also the bar in the main reception is not included and everything here has to be paid for. The dining room at the front of the hotel was the best one to use as it was not as manic as the others. Not as many Russians pushing you out the way to get to the food! We were not quite so eager to get to it!
One good thing though, the fish are amazing. It was like looking into an aquarium when you went onto the pier. Warning though, you are not allowed to go into the sea off of the beach as there are so many coral beds that you could damage. If you want to snorkle, go in off of the pier and wear something on your feet as we saw people cut to bits from the coral.
I have emailed Thomsas Cook and urged them to remove this hotel from their brochure . It is not for the English holiday tourist.
