“Tropitel - good location but ....”

Tropitel Naama Bay

2 of 5 stars
south west
Feb 22, 2008

Definitely not a 5* by European standards. More like a below average 4*. All inclusive wine undrinkable. Refused to give us bottles of water, beer or wine, all drinks only available by the glass, very inconvenient. This necessitated frequent visits to supermarket over the road to purchase bottled water and other drinks.

Hotel staff friendly.

Food barely ok, not even 4* standard. Hygiene ok - at least we did not have any stomache problems!

Very low water pressure in bathrooms throughout, making a shower long and tedious.

Aircon inefficient; would have been a big problem in summer.

Beach ok, but swimming hazardous due to dangerous and stupid speedboat drivers who seem to think they have right of way.

Note about Sharm: You could get very fed up with this place after1 week. There are predatory (local) men hanging around the street cafes. Keep your wife/girlfriend close! The street traders are persistent - an absolute nightmare after a while.

“Great Hotel, Nice time”

Tropitel Naama Bay

4 of 5 stars

Feb 19, 2008

We stayed in Namma Bay hotel on a half board bases.

The location is fantastic, right in the middle of Sharm without being too crowded.
We had a fantastic breakfast every morning, many morning were very early as we were diving most days so we would order a breakfast box ordered the night before.
One night, the hotel held a BBQ night, it was beautiful except for one chap bugging me as he had assumed I had just walked in, no apology offered when my boyfriend showed him our ticket.

Over all the people working at the hotel were lovely although I did have issues with the towels.
The chap cleaning the room often left us short on towels, (usually two hand, two bath & a floor towel) almost every day we had to ring laundry to order what he forgot to leave.
We also found the guy at the pool was very pushy wanting to keep a towel for us at the poolside & reluctant to give us our towel card back.
When we were not diving, we would go to the pools further up on the back of the resort that was quieter.

We dived with Red Sea College. We could not fault them, had a fantastic two weeks staying in Naama bay & diving around the red sea area.
I found that local are nicer to you if you try to talk to them in their tongue & wear appropriate attire.
Bikinis are great for the beach, but not for a restaurant at 10pm at night !!

I found the hotel clean & nice, lovely thick black out curtains so you are not woken by the sun or the sound of people at the poolside.
The room was cleaned everyday, breakfast made to your liking every morning.

“Its not all bad”

Tropitel Naama Bay

My wife, two young kids and mother in law and Istayed here last week and I would agree that some of the previous reports are correct but some are a bit over the top. Firstly I would say that the hotel cannot be beaten for location. Basically it is at the junction where the three main streets meet and couldn't be more central. Two steps from the entrance and you're in the middle of everything including the hassle from shopkeepers and PR people trying to get you to eat in their bars etc. This can be a little annoying and one or two get a bit verbal, but I can only suggest that you don't make eye contact and keep walking. If only they knew that they probably lose more custom by pestering people.

The hotel I would describe as an ok three star and the rooms are nice but our bathroom was a bit scruffy. We stayed in a four star in Dubai last year and this didn't come close. As mentioned previously there are not three or four restaurants included in the AI package as you have to pay in the italian, Mexican and Buda bar. As for the towels at the pool, yes it is a good idea to bung the towel boy about two pounds every other day. But for this he looks after everything for you, so no getting up early to beat the russians day after day. As for the Russians they are everywhere but most kept themselves to themselves, but I must add that the girls are stunning.

The beach is tiny and mostly in the shade due to the large number of umbrellas so we stayed and the middle pool which has three great slides to keep the kids busy all day. The food during our stay was ok, but no icecream unless you buy some and no fruit to mention apart from some melon in the mornings. Complex itself is tidy and all the staff apart from one or two are moody but not rude. One point to watch at booking in which we encountered was the hotel kindly offering to upgrade us to a villa free of charge. Having read reviews about the hotel we knew that this meant staying on the cliff top above the hotel which is not reached by lifts and which involves a number of steep steps. Many a day we saw the bellboys struggling with cases and bags and I would avoid this option like the plague.

Over all we would go back for the right price but I think we're going to try the Hilton or Marriot instead. Both are right on the beach with bigger beaches and only five minutes walk from the strip.

“Loved it!”

We booked our trip through xl.com. We had never used them before, but the service we received was excellent.

We arrived at the hotel and were greeted by the staff who checked us in at reception immediatly, no waiting around. Our bags we then taken to our rooms for us.

The rooms are massive and very clean. The safe is free and is electric so no key which as a bonus. The only downfall for the rooms we the electric keys for the door. We had trouble with them not letting us in a few times, but it was nothing that wasnt sorted quickly after a trip to reception to let them know.

The pools are brilliant we spent most of our time at the olympic pool. Mostly as it was quiter there and you get the sun all day.

The all inclusive wasnt bad, drinks we served until 12 every night and the food was always nice. Breakfast being my favourite as they had a chef on hand to make your omlets to order.

The beach is about 2 mins walk away but be warned the beach is split into hotel private areas and it does get very packed so get there early or wait till late afternoon. Also the hotel provide towels on the beach just hand in your towel card and they will sort you out.

We booked two trips through our rep one was the snorkling boat trip which was brilliant. The other which myself and another friend didnt go on but the rest of the group did was the Bedouin nights trip. They all said it was a wondeful experience and they had a wicked time.

Overall the holiday was brilliant and would love to go back again.

rooms clean, you had to pay pool staff to make sure you had a sunbed, pool cleanthough,i like to tip for good service not to make sure i get a sunbed, private beach packed like sardine's. bar service poor, glasses rinsed in cold water then re-used,no good-alcohol. restaurant like a cattle market at feeding time.when staying in hotel please check tariff of telephone charges nearly £1 per minute there is no clear indication of this. first time of all-inclusive my stay at this hotel has put me off ever trying again.
