“Worst Service ..no good food”

Baron Resort Sharm El Sheikh

The service of hotel employees was the wordt I have ever recieved and I have traveled the world and never have been treated like I was at this hotel. It took at least five minutes to get a drink even a water at ever bar and not because it was busy but because the bartenders do not even acknowledge you when you come up to teh bar. None of the spoke english just russian and some italian. the alcoholic drinks were just horrible..because they do not know how to make them....food was the same evry day..chicken rice and lamb. it took us two days to get more pillows. and whne we first got there the phone and a/c and the safe all DID NOT work and it they sent someone who did not speak any english or russian so he could not even understand what was broken..told us ok ok it's fine..we had to call again for servive now with an english or russian translator and finally a day later eveything was fixed in the room
and FYI the drinks at the disco after midnight are $20 us dollars each!!! overall not a good experience for the money
hyatt and four seasons everyone said was the best

“Relaxing stay at fantastic Baron!”

Baron Resort Sharm El Sheikh

Bristol, UK

Just arrived back from Baron Resort and can only confirm what the other positive reviews have said. You are made to feel welcome from the moment you arrive and the whole place is absolutely immaculate. There are gardeners and cleaners constantly working away and all with a smile and a cheery hello.

Our room was spacious and overlooking the gardens to the sea and Tiran Island. The rooms are a little dated but very clean with super comfy firm beds and Egyptian cotton linen changed daily. Showers were high-powered and air-con was effective. Clean towels every day and after we tipped cleaner he brought extra robes and slippers for kids.

Pool was amazingly warm (30 deg) and big enough to cope with guests who wanted to chill out or play water polo (Russians, of which more later!).

We stayed Bed & Breakfast and signed for drinks etc as we went along. This was great as we got served premium brands and bottled beer, as opposed to hooch and cheaper draught beer served up to all-inclusive guests (Russians again).

It also meant we could choose which restaurant to eat in. Italian was OK, pizzas diasappointing though. Egyptian was good, if you like kebabs, which were brought to table on a charcoal grill. Indian was excellent, service was sketchy (10 mins for menu, another 10 mins for drinks), but food was cooked open-air, fresh to order. I like a good curry and my Jalfrezi was one of the best I've had anywhere. International buffet was what you would expect (russians loading up) and you could always find something that you liked, but I couldn't do it every evening. By the way, wherever we ate it always ended up around £45 for four!

Breakfasts were good, especially if you like eggs or pastries.

Beach was lovely, plenty of loungers, too many vendors (Abdul from the tent this means you!) Pontoon out to reef, which was amazing, we snorkelled every day and variety of fish was stunning. Water was warm and clear. Waiters brought drinks from beach bar and once you tip them they look after you all week.

No stomach problems (cleaned teeth with bottled water) and ate whatever we fancied.

Had dinner at Four Seasons one evening - don't bother! Over fussy staff and tasteless, overpriced food .

Defintely return to Baron for winter sun and relaxing chill-out, it's probaly not 5 star, certainly 4.5, but friendly attentive and not in your face staff more than make up for this.

“Good hotel but the food is not very nice”

Baron Resort Sharm El Sheikh

We stayed in this hotel over Easter. It was very busy. As it was said in previous reviews, the rooms are big, the hotel and the area around the hotel are very clean. The pool is huge (there is also a separate children's pool) and the water there was very warm and pleasant. There is a big sandy beach, so our daughter (3 y.) enjoyed playing and building sandcastles and because the water is so shallow she spent lots of time in the sea instead of a pool. The facilities are generally good, but the gym is tiny (one treadmill, one bicycle, one stepper and a few weights), though it was almost always empty. The only real issue with this hotel was the food. It was ok (I did not hear anyone complain about any tummy upsets), but I would expect much better variety and quality (it just does not taste good) from a five star hotel. We tried Italian restaurant and I would not advise to have pizza there, it tasted like PizzaHut.
But overall, we enjoyed our stay there. With all that sun, sand and sea we were not disappointed.

we went to the baron on the 11th march and we hade a great time the weather was in the high 20s the hotel was more than i expected the staff was allways polite and could not do enough for you, we went on a bed & breakfast basis ad the food was allways enough and the indian was brilliant did not like the egyptian as much as they took ages to serve us and the food was not as hot as it should have been, but overall it was a fantastic holiday and would go back there again but all inclusive next time.

“We Loved this Hotel”

Baron Resort Sharm El Sheikh

Mar 22, 2008
3/3 found this review helpful

From the outside the baron Resort is imposing rather than attractive. Built in the 1980s it is not one of the most beautiful of the South Sinai hotels but from the moment we arrived in the large reception area we were made to feel welcome in this well run establishment. Our room faced the mountains and was much cooler than those with a southerly view. It was a good size, very well equipped with efficient plumbing. The restaurants are varied and very good as were the pool and beach bars. It is very easy to charge everything to the room in this complex so there is no need to carry money unless you are going into Naama Bay. We found the staff in the hotel to be very pleasant and friendly. No request was ever too much trouble for them. Several of the staff remarked on how good a place to work this was. Receptionists were very efficient. Our room was kept immaculate by a very pleasant young lad - even the gardeners seemed to hope we were enjoying our holiday.
None of the above would be unexpected from a 5 star hotel anywhere in the world. The Baron went a bit further than many. I got a birthday card and a basket of fruit (they had seen it was my birthday when we handed in our passports at reception) The General Manager spoke to us several times during our stay, checking that we were satisfied and came to see us off at the end - something he does almost every day.
This hotel is very well situated for anyone who wants to snorkel or to dive. The hotel jetty is a venue for many dive boats and is only a short walk from ones room. The airport is just a 10 minute drive away and the fresh water pool is warm even in the early morning. We enjoyed our fortnight here. The guests were from Italy and Russia for the most part with a fair number of British, some Spanish and some French. This is a hotel we will go back to again even when its new neighbour opens later this year.
