stayed at the hotel in feb and found it to be an excellent choice.
we had a bungalow which was excellent, and we found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful.
it has a lovely private beach and the bottom swimming pool is heated as well. the entertainment wasnt to everyones liking as it caters more for italians and russians but its not the worst ive heard. overall i would recommend this hotel and we will be going back in october for 2 weeks.

“truthful review”

Nubian Island Hotel

Just arrived home from the nubian island, want to go back already, missing the weather 30 degrees ohh lovely!

First time travelled to egypt and was a little apprehensive, bit weary about arabs (bad experience with visiting Tunisia)but i am going to be truthful about my experience, the good and the bad.

The Bad
Departure airport a nightmare, fill in forms, go to that queue then another, then another. Too small to accomodate all departures, not enough seating and only 2 food outlets which were overpriced.

When arriving, man putting case onto bus demanded a pound! I dont think so! I dont mind tipping, but please dont beg!

No entertainment at night ( man in bar playing piano, could not sing in tune, even in itailian, recommend taking pack of playing cards) and all day entertainment in italian, so didnt have clue what was going on. TIP pool by beach noisy, this is where activities go on, Pool by hotel quiet, near toilets and pool bar, however water is freezing (even though read in previous reviews, heated pool, we did not find it!)

We were upgraded from nubian village to the island, we were told could use both facilities, which are literally next door to each other, however we found out could not use their beach or bar, even though rep said we could.

I wouldnt class this as a five star maybe a 3 plus, having spoken to others who have been to 5 star properties, where drinks are brought to you, you have treatment free etc, (you do not get this at the Nubian Island)

THE Good

The weather was gorgeous, in the 30s in the day and still warm in evenings, didnt need cardies!

The rooms were hugh, we had a bungalow, which was in its own gardens with a fence around and its on swing gate, lovely air conditioned and hugh walk in showers, also have fridge, hairdryers, TV.

The food, could not fault plent y of choice day and night, Lamb, beef, pasta, salads rice, veg and the desserts are to die for,we ate in main restaurant, although there is a restaurant by the beach, they only offer a small selection, however they do serve burger and chips and icecream, from about 3, we only found this out on the last day.

The staff are very friendly, from the chefs to the cleaners, all staff are male, could not fault at all and well worth tipping for their service.

Slides at nubian village brilliant for ,kids, my 11 year old loved them.

Arrival at airport very swift, in fact we could learn a few lessons from them, however if you do not intend to leave resort, fill in visas, but write sinai only in corner and then you will not have to pay £10 fee.

Didnt go on any trips so cant advise.

None of us experienced bad tummys, but drank plenty of water, free bottles available all day and night.

None of us experienced any mosquito bits (which is unusual for me), and didnt need to use spray, however used lemon shower gel, as this always seems to work for me, they do not like the smell of lemon!

Would definately go back, for the weather and the friendliness of the staff.

“nubien island”

Nubian Island Hotel

just back this morning after staying in nubien island for a week.the hotel grounds and rooms are faultless, but be prepared for a language barrier when trying to get information from some staff as they are more geared towards italian guests.we were the only irish guests and between the nubien island and nubien village there was only a coach full of english speaking guests.entertainment(animation as they call it) is 95% italian spoken in the island, the village would have a bit more english spoken for say kids mini disco.the food was lovely in restaurant, but for some it may not suit.menu consisited of rice, meats done in sauces or roasted, pastas.dessets are plentiful but if your into fresh cream like me you wont get it.
naama bay is lovely with plenty to do between beach, shopping and restaurants.we eat at tgi fridays with children one night and food wasnt overly hot, just luke warm so if deciding between hard rock or tgi's maybe see what hard rock have to offer.
be prepared for offers for your young daughters from some egyptians,as we have a 6 year old and we had 2 offers to buy her, again this is part of their culture it seems to have girls married by 21 if not there is something wrong with them.
if doing trips you are best booking in naama bay as you will save a lot of money on trips compared to your reps price.my rep wanted 270 for day trip to cairo, went to naama bay and could have got for 150-160 euro.
weather was 30c during day but lasts few morninds and eves it was starting to get windy and chilly.
on return make sure you have eaten as the airport does not have much of a selection and it is expensive.
generally sharm el sheikh is fabulous and i would return but maybe to different hotel so i could understand and communicate with people within hotel
