Just arrived home from the nubian island, want to go back already, missing the weather 30 degrees ohh lovely!
First time travelled to egypt and was a little apprehensive, bit weary about arabs (bad experience with visiting Tunisia)but i am going to be truthful about my experience, the good and the bad.
The Bad
Departure airport a nightmare, fill in forms, go to that queue then another, then another. Too small to accomodate all departures, not enough seating and only 2 food outlets which were overpriced.
When arriving, man putting case onto bus demanded a pound! I dont think so! I dont mind tipping, but please dont beg!
No entertainment at night ( man in bar playing piano, could not sing in tune, even in itailian, recommend taking pack of playing cards) and all day entertainment in italian, so didnt have clue what was going on. TIP pool by beach noisy, this is where activities go on, Pool by hotel quiet, near toilets and pool bar, however water is freezing (even though read in previous reviews, heated pool, we did not find it!)
We were upgraded from nubian village to the island, we were told could use both facilities, which are literally next door to each other, however we found out could not use their beach or bar, even though rep said we could.
I wouldnt class this as a five star maybe a 3 plus, having spoken to others who have been to 5 star properties, where drinks are brought to you, you have treatment free etc, (you do not get this at the Nubian Island)
THE Good
The weather was gorgeous, in the 30s in the day and still warm in evenings, didnt need cardies!
The rooms were hugh, we had a bungalow, which was in its own gardens with a fence around and its on swing gate, lovely air conditioned and hugh walk in showers, also have fridge, hairdryers, TV.
The food, could not fault plent y of choice day and night, Lamb, beef, pasta, salads rice, veg and the desserts are to die for,we ate in main restaurant, although there is a restaurant by the beach, they only offer a small selection, however they do serve burger and chips and icecream, from about 3, we only found this out on the last day.
The staff are very friendly, from the chefs to the cleaners, all staff are male, could not fault at all and well worth tipping for their service.
Slides at nubian village brilliant for ,kids, my 11 year old loved them.
Arrival at airport very swift, in fact we could learn a few lessons from them, however if you do not intend to leave resort, fill in visas, but write sinai only in corner and then you will not have to pay £10 fee.
Didnt go on any trips so cant advise.
None of us experienced bad tummys, but drank plenty of water, free bottles available all day and night.
None of us experienced any mosquito bits (which is unusual for me), and didnt need to use spray, however used lemon shower gel, as this always seems to work for me, they do not like the smell of lemon!
Would definately go back, for the weather and the friendliness of the staff.
