WHAT MAKES SOME PEOPLE TICK ?...... i can only think that they save all year to go away and pick the bones ouy of the holiday to make them feel as bad as if they were still at work. my advice would be to stay at home and save your money because if you dont like this hotel your wiring is all wrong.
as some people have said its the cleanest hotel ive had the pleasure of staying in and this is all down to the most friendly, hard working staff ive ever seen. reception staff included.
yes there was things to pick at like the water needing to be more available. but if you just make sure you get your water at dinner and evening meal time, (AND YOU CAN ASK FOR AS MANY AS YOU LIKE). and keep your own fridge well stocked its no problem.
yes you do have to get up early if you want a day at the pool, but to be honest have a lie in till 9am and go down the beach where you will find many beds,a more peacefull location, a bar with all the same drinks, that you get from your waiter or fetch it yourself for the wife (velcro [--]) and eat on the lovely beach from two choices of food, different each day and be served by the most friendly bar men (donny osmond and tom cruise) and top cook (john barnes) if ide of gone down the beach the first day we wouldnt of bothered with the pool at all, even though the pool is lovely.
yes its not a five star as we know it but its not down to the lack of trying.
food i thought was brilliant. if you say it repeats each week then thank god for that because i loved the first weeks food. if you dont like this food then you shouldnt be going out of your own house, let alone your country.
entertainment isnt brilliant but its par for the course for egypt and its enough to entertain you.
could be more seating areas outside but to be honest its too hot to sit outside at night anyway. youre glad of the air conditioning inside.
went into nama bay first week and got offered two ferraris for my daughter (13) didnt like the locals at this point but after spending the rest of the holiday in the hotel isoon changed my mind about the egyption people. and it wasnt just the staff being polite, even the builders at the right hand side of the beach stopped to talk and ask if you are enjoying your holiday. wonderfull, friendly.
i hope the manager reads all the coments people take the time to write down because witha few little tweaks here and there he will have a hotel to be very proud of.

to sum this hotel up.... BEST £700 IVE SPENT IN A LONG TIME.

“A Good Hotel”

Stayed in the Baron Palms from the 12th to 26th June this year and found that the hotel was above the average that we have experienced in the past. Believe me we have travelled all over the world in every one of the continents and have stayed in much worse hotels that are rated as 5*.
The hotel is spotlessly clean, the staff are an asset to it and the only fault was that in the Tiran restaurant the head chef added "Sauce Anglais" (Gravy to the un educated) to everything including the fish. After talking to the general manager at the cocktail party he stated that the chef was to be changed so the food may be better now.
Yes there were a few people complaining of dicky stomachs but they were lying out in raging temperatures as though it was Blackpool Beach in April.
We went for a totally chilled out holiday not bothered about the sight seeing trips as our main holiday is always in January, just a rest and this hotel was totally relaxing.
We never went without a sunbed around the pool and did not arrive there from breakfast until after 9.00am but we did give the pool boy a £5 tip the first day but no more after, come on last time we were in the States if you did not tip the waiter at least 15% of the bill service was terrible next time you went, in fact you were game for quite a bit verbal abuse on the way out.
I would love to go to one of the hotels that the constant moaners of the Baron Palms set there bench marks by, please can you let me know?
We had a pool view and did not book it I just emailed a polite letter to the hotel asking if there was one available could we be considered and lo and behold we got one and no extra charge, believe me manners, which a lot of the moaners seem to lack goes a very long way.
Yes I agree that the "All Inclusive" is not quite that and the hotel seems to be in a quandry whether to go down that road or charge Tariff, this must be one of the first hotels that I have stayed All Inclusive, whereby you could not take drinks to your room. We like to sit for an hour after lying in the sun on the balcony watching the world go by. It is also the first time that I have been charged for drinks from the room fridge?
Regarding the remarks re not being able to wear shorts for evening meals, I think this is a great thing and let me assure you if you stay 5* in England or any other developed country you certainly would not be allowed to wear them there, in fact a tie and jacket is usually the norm. Nothing looks worse than a sweaty pair of swim shorts.
If you are contemplating going do not like I did worry about what the moaners say, go and have a great time, we did. Ask Mattar at the pool bar to do some of his card tricks, they are amazing

Stayed at the Baron Palms 23rd June to 7th July. Loved every minute of it. My wife and I snorkeled twice every day and spent most of our time on the beach. Drinks were brought as and when you wanted them, and we also had our lunch there most days from the beach bar. A good choice of sandwiches with fries and a bit of salad. Breakfasts were fine in the Tiran restaurant, everything you would expect on the menu. The Paradise restaurant was great for evening meals with super steaks, sea bass, chicken kebabs, various salads etc. We also ate at the Egyptian restaurant a couple of times and it to was fine, but the courses kept on coming until you were bursting. Drinks were great, the local lager very acceptable and the spirits fine. My wife drank white wine and although not brilliant it was also palatable. The staff are genuinely friendly and as stated inother reviews a small tip now and again worked wonders. Any one who goes here and doesn't go in the sea off the jetty is missing the most amazing sights of marine life within just a few feet. Worth every penny.

“Fairly good stay at Baron Palms”

Baron Palms Resort Sharm El Sheikh

Jul 8, 2008
4/6 found this review helpful

We (myself and my girlfriend, both 21) have just returned from a two week stay at the Baron Palms resort. Having read some of the reviews on trip advisor, we were slightly concerned, however i'd strongly recommend for people not to worry!! Its a nice enough hotel, good value for money, but not 5* and undermined slightly by a few 'niggles'.

First things first, take english money with you!! All excursions can be paid in English, and exchange rate at the hotel was 10.55 compared to 8.6 over here! Luckily i knew this before i went but many who don't end up out of pocket!

Firstly the room situation - on arrival, we were given our room and certainly were not impressed. Two single beds, a balcony that looked over a steel cage surrounding a car park, lets say after a fairly long journey i wasn't very happy. However, after an immediate request to change, the next day we were given a very nice pool view room. Staff were friendly on reception about it, and acted quickly and efficiently.

Meals - Buffet restaurant average at best. Breakfast prob best meal there. Lunch and dinner ok, nothing special, very repetitive but expected as usually happens with most all inclusive buffet restaurants. Egyptian nice, odd starters but mains are good. Paradise ok, just don't have the smoked salmon pancakes, absolutely awful!!! There are other restaurants in the 'baron resort' where you can get a discount, only tried the Indian which was nice and very cheap after the Baron Palms discount that guests are entitled to. Would recommend Naama Bay for eating out though, some very nice restaurants and generally cheap.

Pool - Not bad, fairly big BUT as has been mentioned in previous reviews, the sundbed situation is a joke!!!!!! To queue at 7am for half an hour just to guarantee a sun bed is ridiculous, not what I enjoy doing on holiday!!

Staff - Seem to get one extreme or another. Some extremely nice staff, especially the people that greet you in the Tiran restaurant, very pleasant. And Mohamed in the Terrace Bar is an absolute legend!!! However some of the staff are unbelievably rude! Completely inexcusable to be physically pushed to one side (like i had been in the paradise bar) and having drinks etc. slammed on your table. Resulted in a confrontation with more than one manager, hopefully they will act on it because its not a very nice experience to have, especially on holiday!!!

Excursions - went quad biking, red sea cruise and stars and dinner trip. Would recommend all! Very enjoyable, and interesting, in particular the star gazing!

Weather - I do not envy anyone going out in July or August. Heat was almost unbearable during the day, 40 degrees most days. Apparently in August it can reach 50!!!!! Both of us got very good tans but make sure you get lots of sun tan lotion before you go, the prices as you would expect are expensive out there.

Beach - Fantastic! Soft sand, amazing coral! I bought a snorkel kit in Naama Bay, only paid £4 for it after haggling and it did me fine. Sea is warm, and no shortage of sunbeds on the beach, plus slightly cooler because of the breeze.

Naama Bay - Great atmosphere. People always trying to get you into their shops, but not really a problem if you give a firm no! Be prepared to haggle, if you pay anything more than half of their first price then you've not haggled hard enough! Taxi's are safe, about 40 egyptian pounds (4 english) each way. Don't pay anymore than this, once you've agreed a price, they'll try and get more out of you on the way to your destination but don't fall for it. Shuttle bus useful, but need to book etc., easy to get a cab outside the hotel.

In general, i would have no problems recommending Baron Palms to friends, especially for the price we paid. Don't expect the world, remember you're not staying at the four seasons or ritz-carlton! If you go with reasonable expectations, you'll have a good time! Oh and the best thing by far about this hotel is most of the guests are British!!

“Best holiday ever.......”

Baron Palms Resort Sharm El Sheikh

Jul 8, 2008
4/4 found this review helpful

Whatever you have read on these reviews about this hotel being bad and the staff being terrible, please ignore. Myself and my partner have just returned from a 2 week holiday at the baron palms and we didnt want to come home.

ON ARRIVAL
When we arrived we checked in with no problems, we were on the 3rd floor and as there are no lifts I was dreading dragging my case upstairs, but before I had to worry about this one of the bell boys was already taking our cases up to the room. We were pointed in the direction of our room and as we had been delayed and had missed the evening buffet but when we walked into the room they had left us a plate of food each which was great as we were starving. It sounds like we were lucky but we had a pool view and a balcony and were in room 345. The next day we met up with our rep and booked 3 trips which were a bit more expensive than we expected so take plenty of money if you want to do a lot. We then tried to get a sunbed at the pool. The time was 11.00 and we were really lucky that as we got there 2 became available but you really do have to be early to get a sun bed at the pool although people do move throughout the day so most of the time you could get one about lunch time. At the end of the day there is a private beach to go to if you cant get the pool and the sea is lovely - crystal clear and warm and you still get your all inclusive drinks at the beach bar.

FOOD
Breakfast was pretty good, I am a cereal girl so I was fine although my partner did miss a good pork sausage and bacon but as Egypt is a muslim country you cant get it anywhere so we werent missing out on other hotels. The food in the Tiran buffet restaurant was also pretty good, some days better than others depending on the theme for each day which varied from italian to tex mex, the good thing was that even though there was a theme there were plenty of othjer things to eat that were fairly plain - my partner is a fussy eater and he never had a problem filling his plate each night, great selection of desserts each night and the bread was gorgeous. The paradise pool restaurant was lovely at night although you had to have a reservation which I know some people have found difficult to get but we ate there about 6 times in 2 weeks and we didnt have to contact reception once as we made friends very quickly with one of the members of staff called Moustafa. On our final night we booked a private romantic candle lit dinner next to the waterfall of the pool, this was quite expensive but if you want a special meal then it is well worth it

STAFF
We first met Moustafa when he came round to ask if we wanted to book onto one of the theme nights, it is extra but only about 14 quid and we thought it was well worth it. After this he was very pleasant and came to chat to us each day, he was brilliant actually and did so much for us - he really made our holiday unforgetable and he was very genuine, not just digging for tips unlike some people have suggested on here, sure they want tips its a way of life out there, they work 40 days on then 10 days off and they work 14 hour shifts for a mere £80 per month!!! I tell you they deserve every penny in tips that they get. Anyway he would come over and ask where we wanted to eat each night and he took care of it for us. Other members of staff we thought were brilliant were Mohammed and Mattar from the pool bar and once you got to know him Shady from the pool bar was also great. You could have a joke with them all and make sure you ask Mattar to do his card drinks, these were great. The highlight of meeting Mattar was when he demonstated how he could eat glass - it was hysterical!!! The servive at the pool bar was awesome you would be almost finishing your drink and there was another ready in front of you, we had a couple of nights when we had to down our drinks fast to leave to save wasting a drink as we knew there would be another one put in front of us!! - Obviously we didnt find this a bad thing at all!!! Mohammed had a running joke with my partner on my behalf for the whole holiday which was funny especially when I got him back on the last day!!! I really couldnt fault the staff when we needed anything from the reception, bars or the pool guys nothing was too much trouble, for instance I would ask the pool guys for an ashtray and if there were none left they would search around the pool till they found one, at home you would just be told sorry there are none left. Poor Talaat at the towel desk kept getting thrown into the pool by different guests but he kept everyone entertained!!!

TRIPS
Go to the pyramids - your in Egypt for god sake but do go on a flight there or you will spend the whole day on a bus - it was a long day going to Cairo and expensive but well worth it. We also did the desert quad bikes which were ace and a desert safari which was really good as we got to go snorkeling at a renowned site, ride a camel and meet the bedouin (desert) people and I would defo recommend all these trips. One night we went to Naama Bay the hotel provide a bus which costs about 4 quid for a return journey which is nothing as a taxi will set you back a fiver each way. We had a good night but it is quite tacky there and you will get hasled but shop keepers and restaurant owners, as long as you have your witts about you, keep walking and say no they are generally ok, you get hassled more at the pyramids by these fools trying to sell trinkets but again just keep saying no and they get the message.

MISC
The entertainment I will say was pretty poor but we arnt really into that anyway we had a great time drinking in the pool bar in the evening having a laugh with the staff and talking to the guests. BEWARE if you are drinking in the pool bar in the evening wear insect repellant, I have never been bitten before but on my first night I got bitten 28 times on my legs and didnt realise till the lumos came up the next and and they took over a week to go down. We did both have bad tummy's on 1 or 2 days but nothing that kept us in bed, just take imodium with you and it will pass, I think for us it was because we were drinking too much beer and pop and no water because as soon as we started to drink water we were fine. The weather was incredibily hot so be prepared and dont overdo the first day - we were fine but we saw quite a fe lobsters walking round!! Just check if someone offers you anything around the restaurants or pool that it is in your all inclusive as some things arent and if you have already said yes its hard to go back, the best example of this is the guy who comes around at breakfast asking if you want to try something fresh in the morning - referring to freshly squashed orange juice, we said yes on our first day and were charged £2 per glass, needless to say after this we said no and that was fine. Go on the seafood and bbq nights, its something a bit different and the entertainment is a bit better than the general entretainment provided each night, and if you dont like seafood you can have steak instead.

All in all this place was amazing we loved everything and would go back tomorrow if we could so if anyone is thinking of cancelling on the back of bad reviews - I will go in your place!!!!!!!!!!! Any questions feel free to ask.
