I stayed at the Baron Palms for 10 nights and had an excellent stay.
The hotel was immaculate and the service was fantastic.
Just to pick up on a few negative reviews i have read;
-We got up at 10.30 am most days and never ever had a problem getting a sunbed at the pool or beach!!You may not get the exact one you would like but needless to say you will get one
-The service is fantastic the waiters around the pool and in the bars always ensure you have a drink to hand and really look after you
-The view from the back of the hotel is not great but it was made clear to me when booking if this bothered you to pay and upgrade to a pool view room
-The drink selection is not brilliant and there is only a few cocktails on AI but there are loads of non alcoholic ones so ask for one of theese with rum in which is no problem then you have a much bigger range!!(oh and they do give you nibbles with
drinks in the veranda bar)
Some people have compalined about lack of bars/restaurants in the evenings but all this is shown in the brochure before you book so i don't know what they expected!
Food it the buffet was repetative (they have theme nights which are better) but we never had a problem booking into the paradise or Egyptian on the morning we wanted it and the food was lovely in both of theese
The pool area was really nice as was the beach but we found the beach much busier especially with kids so stayed by the pool and took advantage of the drinks waiter service, ice cold face towels, sunglasses cleaner and iced fruit brought around to you. Somedays we walked down to the beach and snorkelled, the snorkelling is not as varied as other hotels i have been to in Egypt but is very safe and easy brilliant if you are a begginer.
I did get ill when i was there, really bad cramps which i had to take antibiotics for and still dont feel back to normal now i am home which did put a downer on the trip, i will howvever say i got them in a different hotel i stayed in in Sharm last year and everyone at the airport on landing was complaining about this i dont think it is any particular hotels just Egypt in general.
You do get hassled a bit to buy extra things eg theme nights, massages but they target you on your first day and leave you alone for the rest of the stay.
This hotel is not a 5* by European standards but you have to keep in mind what you would pay for a 5* AI in Egypt for 2 weeks to what you would pay many other places in the world and work out if you think it is good value for money.
Overall i had a fantastic time and if you are going i am sure you wont be dissapointed - didnt get 5/5 as have stayed in better hotels but would def return as long as the price was reasonable
