“Ok for the money!”

Delta Sharm Resort

Arrived at sharm airport what a nightmare very enclosed lines queing for everythng everywhere. Managed to find our tour rep for our transfer I would say though its a hell of a lot cheaper to book a taxi then pay for transfers typical british been ripped off as always from airport to hotel should cost you no nore than 60 egyptian pounds £6, always haggle though this is part of the whole idea its a bit of fun once you get use to it. when going in to namma bay always try and use the shuttle that is provided as it saves alot of hassle by the taxi rank gets a little nasty down there if you keep saying no if you do say yes they lead you away little scary. anyway onto Delta Sharm, we stayed in building 113 room 103 right overlooking the ali baba pool, the room was a 1 bed apartment groundfloor it was very spaciuos and clean, hide your loo roll so they definately give you a new one each day the amount of times we had to take one from the restaurant :-), next port of call the restaurant when we arrived on 27th may the food was outside in the silver dishes which were heated by tea lights! nothing was labelled hadnt got a clue what I was eating but the food griped me after 1 week rice rice and more rice great if you love rice i do but wow enough is enough. they are very stingy with drinks with pop being served warm and in plastic glasses it was drink it then you can get another! take advantage of the snack menu tastes better than the stuff the serve up at lunch in the resturant. Most of staff were pleasent but did think that AI got treated not as well as the paying customers even though weve'd paid up front. Pool areas were nice main pool is warm and spacious. be carfeul in namma bay as alot of people will walk up to you saying hello english then they will introduce themselves and lead you away to there shop please say no as we were pretty much made to feel we had to buy a painting it was lovely but he said they were his own it was our first nite in egypt hadnt got a clue when we bought it and got out of there we went past 10 shops atleast selling the same stuff!! any thing else we can help you with let us know. there are plenty of shops on complex and its huge!! been a girl myself love to wear wedge shoes be very careful as its crazy paved everywhere nearly broke my neck :-(. would recommend anyone to do snorkelling its amazing quad trip is excellant too, aqua park aqua park is the name of it is ok lots of slides if you dont like slides dont go to this one I didnt try cleo park in namma so can tell you about that but reasonably cheap dont book with rep just go by taxi cheaper.

“Delta Sharm needs a lot of work”

We have just come back from this holiday and all I can say is that I am glad it was nice and hot. We booked a last minute holiday to this resort and I can say that I will never go back to this resort. The room we had was terrible, the shower cubicle was about 3 foot square with a old shower curtain and a shower tray that didn't even fit so the water just ran out of the tray onto the floor making it wet and dangerous, there was a drain on the floor that they expected you to leave open to let the water drain away but even then the water did not go down it. We had a kitchen in the obviously from when it was half board, with a dirty old camping stove and a huge gas bottle just sat on the floor - safe I don' t think so. They got the number in our party completely wrong there was three of us and when I asked them for a bed for my 4 year old I was told I would have to wait until the morning and then they bought a Cot!! I am just glad that we were able to spend as little time as possible in our room. The food had no choice what so ever and you didn't know what you were eating but oddly enough on our second from last night labels appeared but the food was still awful and we were treated very differently as paying customers. We went to Egypt last august and the hotel we stayed in was so lovely so this flet like we were staying in the slums and it is not a holiday resort, is a mix between a residential resort and holiday makers!!! We were not flying home until late at night so we paid £27.50 for a late check out which only gave us an extra 3 hours and they were banging on our door at 6 to get us out and to top it all off we were not even allowed to eat or drink, if we wanted to we had to pay for it. If you are thinking of going to stay here I would think again, find yourself a different holiday resort to stay at

“Some bits great - some terrible”

Delta Sharm Resort

3 of 5 stars
Manchester
May 21, 2008

I have just returned from staying at Delta Sharm with my boyfriend. After reading reviews in detail before we went we were quite concerned but just thought we'd go with an open mind and form our own opinions. Try not to be too worried after reading some of the reviews on here, however a little pre-knowledge will stand you in good sted if you have already booked!

Our apartment was lovely and large with everything we needed. Situated in an excellent place meant we weren't far from the main bar and had pools close by. Cleaners were great for us, came at same time everyday and always with smiles. The grounds and pools at Delta are just great, so well maintained - although easy to get lost at first! You'll get your bearings though.

Ok- for the not so great part. All Inclusive people are clearly not as important to staff as the self catering guests. No one is rude to you - quite the contrary - but they make it difficult for you to stay happy. Warm drinks gets tiring, and a lot of the time we didn't want ice incase it was made from tap water which is just a no-go drink. However ice is totally fine, so don't be afraid to say yes to it. Limited amount of drinks available - the spirits taste like bleach and only one type of beer available for all inclusive (Heineken).

Food is not up to standard but edible if you are hungry enough. We felt quite ill after two days, not sure exactly what from but we avoided the food after that as the smell made us nauseus. No labels on food is frustrating, especially when staff serving don't even know what it is!!

Little or no waiter service for all inclusive guests. You will notice whilst at pools that self catering guests get brought drinks and food from staff, however we never got asked if we wanted anything. To make sure you get waited on just get the attention of a waiter if you can and ask for some drinks. Give him a small tip (20 egyptian pounds = 2 english pounds) and he'll be over the moon and will keep coming to you every half an hour or so. Up to you if you want to keep tipping but there is no need as they are more than happy with 20.

If you are unlucky enough to feel unwell just go to the chemist and explain you have a stomach upset. Immodium from England simply does not work as explained to me towards the end of my holiday (too late then though!) Apparently the chemists are very good and will sort you out.

I would return to Egypt but not to Delta Sharm I'm afraid.

“Delta a disappointment”

Delta Sharm Resort

5 of 5 stars
staffordshire
May 18, 2008

We have just returned from the Delta Sharm Resort and have mixed feelings about it. The room, one bedroomed apartment, and the pool areas are very good. Although we only found drinks served at the one Main Pool bar which meant we spent a lot of time treking from the smaller, quieter pools, to the main area to get a drink. The weather was great, very hot and it would have been an idea to at least have a water cooler by each pool but that was not to be.
We were told that the hotel had only recently started offering All-inclusive. This would explain the bad service at the bar and dining area for holidaymakers wearing the bands on their wrists as opposed to those paying for their meals. We had to wait for 30 minutes one morning to have a continental breakfast plate served to us, but the couple who came in after us, without bands on their wrists, were served immediately.
The food was not great. It was mainly buffet style and was a bit bland. The hot food containers were not labeled so you didn't know exactly what was being served. There was very little fresh fruit served at any meal. Nothing at breakfast and dinner time they sometimes had figs or oranges cut into quarters. We ate out a few times for variety.
Also the free bus into Narma Bay only ran once a day at about 1800 and returned 2130. Not really convenient for a night out in Narma, timings seemed very odd to us. It was very boring at the hotel at night time. There was one night a show was arranged but other than that you sat round a small bar by the pool - getting bitten by ants and flys. There was no 'lounge area' as such where you could have a nice drink in air conditioned surroundings. They did advertise a Club House in an upstairs area but we never saw the bar open in there and it was always empty. The only bar which seemed to be manned was by the pool and stopped serving all inclusive guests at around 11pm. You could still get a drink after this time but you had to pay for it.
We stayed at the Delta Sharm for a week but if we had booked for a fortnight we would have changed hotels. We like Sharm and would go back there but not the this hotel.

“please read!!! all inclusive terrible.”

Delta Sharm Resort

May 17, 2008

we stayed at delta sharm for two weeks an all i can say it was the longest two weeks of my life... there was no entertainment only on a monday an thursday and it was rubbish... so we just stayed in and watch television.. the tv in the room has a very wide choice of films and was very good there is something to please everyone.....
the hotel has only been all inclusive for about 4-6 weeks, thats what's new not the hotel..and its not really a hotel it's more like a residential complex as a lot of the locals live there in the properties.. and the complex is huge it took us about 10-15 mins to walk from our room to the restaurant and because the food was that bad we just never bothered apart from breakfast.
the all inclusive was really bad. the drinks were always warm an very little choice, and the pool bar that was outside our room is very nice but he always ran out of beer, an when he could be bothered to go an get some more it took about 30 mins then the bar would be closed till he came back. also trying to get a drink was terrible the glasses were terrible and plastic and you could only get 1 drink per person.... they hadtthe all in clusive bar that was tiny then they had the bar where you could buy drinks, and if you were buying you got served a lot quicker..
the food was also cold and very little choice the snack menu was the best we just ate off that when we could be bothered to take the 15 min walk up to the restaurant in the heat...the food was that bad my mum ended up buying eggs from the supermarket which is very cheap and boiling them in the kettle in the room..
we did notice there in the process of building a new restaurant and maybe when that eventually opens the food might improve we'll just have to wait and see.
also our med hotels rep tarek was a joke,, he was absolutely useless he just wasn't interested. we never even had a transfer back to airport he said he never had our names, so we had to make our own arrangements.
on a positive note the complex it self is very nice and i would go back i just most definetly wouldn't go all inclusive i'd go back self catering.. cos its cheap enough to eat out if you know where to go.
