“Dreadful steer well clear”

Delta Sharm Resort

1 of 5 stars
Manchester
Oct 6, 2008 New

Just returned from Delta Sharm and landed back in Manchester at 4am this morning. Having read the other reviews before travelling, I had some reservations but you have to experience these things for yourself as what suits one person doesn't suit another, so went with an open mind.

My god, what a shambles!!! This is not a hotel but more like a housing estate, which comprised of 2 storey building over a very large area. We had a studio apartment which, I have to say, was very nice and in the new part of the complex. It was clean and spacious, but was situated at the further point of the complex which meant that you had to walk at least 20 minutes before reaching the one restaurant and one bar which catered for the all inclusive deal. Over the course of a week backwards and forwards it became very tiresome. There was more than enough staff, in fact I would say they were over staffed and a lot of them were just standing about, but the service was dreadful having to wait anything up to half an hour to get a drink and then you were lucky if they actually brought you what you ordered!! The food was terrible and my friend and I lived on toast for breakfast, salad for lunch and we ate out most nights because evening dinner was disgusting. I have never seen such weird combinations of food, for example, they would put out black olives and sliced cucumber at breakfast, together with a whole load of other crap! They advertise an oriental restaurant which for an additional $10 you have have a meal there. We decided to give it a go, but this was no oriential restaurant as I know it. We read the menu and walked out but to give you an idea of what was on offer. . . pigeon, stuffed intestines and ox tail, to name a few that I can remember. We didn't stay long enough to digest the menu properly.

They claim to have 2 private beaches and we did go on the free shuttle bus one day, but once you're there that's it. No food, no drinks and the only thing they could offer us was water. We stayed 10 minutes and got a taxi back to the complex.

The gardens are beautiful, green and lush with lovely flowers and there are 12 pools. The main pool is loud with the same music blasting out day after day, however if that's not your thing you can find quieter pools around the complex. But, then you have to treak back to the main pool again to get a drink?

I would never in a million years recommend this place to anyone. Its full of middle aged women hooking up with young egyptian males and its very obvious what's going on here so I will leave that to your imagination - its embarrassing!!

Don't waste your money on this place, you could do far better. This was my 3rd time to Sharm and have stayed in some really nice hotels, however, if this was my 1st experience then this would have put me off for good, never to return.

“It is that bad.”

Delta Sharm Resort

2 of 5 stars
scunthorpe
Sep 29, 2008

Ive been on many all inclusive holidays and had a fantastic time, this place is a joke!

Lets start with the good points.
The beach is amazing. The fish that you see was enough to keep me busy for hours everyday. However you can see the fish and the reefs at any beach.

The external of the resort is very nice. Great pools, they are well kept and tidy. A lot of work goes into keeping the place green, watering the trees and flowers etc.

The rooms are of a good standard for the most part. Our room was rubbish, but we didn’t know of the much better rooms until about 10 days into our holiday. If we had known we would of changed.

Bad stuff.
THE FOOD!!! It is awful. Same stuff over and over again. Chicken and beef. With the choose of 3 types of rice. It was all so salty it was uneatable.
The best food that they could do was the snack food, but it was one per person, they wouldn’t let us have a burger each then pizza to share.

The waiters stand there watching you, and are wanting to take your plate away before you have finished what is on your plate or in your glass.

Also waiting until your partner is by herself and start asking her for a kiss. The amount of girls we spoke to that had been asked for a kiss was ridicules.

There entertainment during the day consisted of one activity “WATER POLO”
Nothing to do for the kids other than go in the pool because the water polo was all Egyptian men that were all that serious about winning the match it wasn’t even fun.

The music was the same all the time and very loud.

The free bus that takes you to the beach or to the markets didn’t turn up at all 3 times.

The police man at the beach asked people for money, told me the next time I come to the beach I was to bring him a t-shirt, because I would not give him a price for my girlfriend. He was very serious and the police there are armed. It was a very uncomfortable conversation that went on for about 30 mins because the bus never turned up.

Lots more can be said. But to sum up, I wouldn’t visit this resort again.

“Top Holiday”

Delta Sharm Resort

Sep 22, 2008

I loved my holiday at Delta Sharm people were friendly room was clean and tidy good air con lovely view from balcony of one of the many pools I would say the only down fall was the food and paying for food round our pool as the restaurant was a bit too far to walk 3 times daily.

So I would suggest to do what we did buy some cereal and milk for your room from the supermarket that saves your walk for breakfast and a pizza is cheap as chips for dinner about £1.80 fed 3 of us and then just make the effort at night.

The waiters I did not find pervy at all they always kept us replenished with drinks but they did whip your glass away as soon as it was empty, they deffo need a delivery of new glasses there as they ran short every night but we still got our drinks.

I would like to say a thankyou to richard for taking us snorkling top days out .

I would say to anyone try delta just be prepared for the same food day in day out am sure it will improve in time.

“CHOOSE A DIFFERENT RESORT”

Delta Sharm Resort

2 of 5 stars
Northampton
Sep 17, 2008

IF YOU'VE EVER BEEN ON AN ALL INCLUSIVE HOLIDAY THEN GIVE THIS PLACE A WIDE BIRTH.

The only way people are writing good reviews is if they've never had a proper holiday or they work for Delta Sharm!!!

The rooms are good, but only if you book a suite. the stories we heard from other guests staying in the older part are incredible!! Mould for a start, gas hobs not connected to a proper gas supply etc.

The service is shocking, the food is passable if you're an adult. Children had chicken nuggets or pizza on offer nearly every night.

The music played by the pool is louder than any holiday I've been on in Ibiza (you can't hear to talk) and there is swearing in a lot of it (family resort remember. We were told that all the guests like it like that by the DJ, not according to all the ones we spoke to!!

Drinks - One tiny tiny bar to serve over a 1000 guests please sort it out.

Always running out of various drinks..................

I could go on with this review for ages, to sum it up.

THIS PLACE IS A DISASTER

“An experience NOT to be repeated !!!!”

Delta Sharm Resort

Sep 15, 2008

We've been back a few days now and we've still got upset stomachs!!!! The weather was amazing. The apartment itself was beautiful, extremely luxurious - our room itself was spacious, good quality furniture (although the bed was hard), and the cleanliness was exceptional. The pools and grounds were first rate as well (although the flooring of the complex was made out of uneven cobbles so if all you've brought is 4 inch heels and flip flops it isn't ideal - mental note for me for future).

With regards to the hospitality - this was a different kettle of fish altogether. First of all a lot of the hotel staff were constantly leering at me even though my husband was with me. I'd heard about this and was expecting it to a certain degree but nothing prepared me for the level and blatancy of being ogled which made me feel extremely uncomfortable for the entire duration of my stay and it also made my husband really annoyed as well.

Also we found it increasingly annoying when the waiters would stand about 2 feet away from you watching you eat and then the second you put your fork down on your plate they would whip your plate away whilst you were still chewing your food, even if my husband hadn't finished eating.

Down to the food, it was very monotonous and repetitive - you would get beef, chicken and then it was recycled for about 3- 4 days after that in different dishes. There wasn't any fresh fruit for breakfast, nothing seemed fresh, there was no variation whatsoever. If you like rice then you will be ok !!!!

We've been on 3 all inclusive's now and the others provided brilliant food, loads of fresh fruit, fish and local produce etc, nothing like that here. We stopped going down for breakfast and I ate rice, chicken and salad for lunch and dinner most days. We felt like we were having to beg for service.

The drinks were warm, they didn't refrigerate any of the all inclusive drinks (not everthing was all inclusive - you'd ask for something only to be told you'd got to pay for it). So the drinks were like hot soup and the ice was very limited. By 9pm most nights they would run out of glasses so you couldn't have a drink at all but the waiters would be standing round you waiting for you to finish your drink and then whip your glass away and then they wouldn't serve you again coz there were no glasses and there simply wasn't adequate seating to cater for everyone. There was only one beer pump for about 1000 people - absolutely ridiculous.

We had to be out of our room by 2pm and the cleaners kicked us out at 1.50pm. We were going to hand our key in but found out from another resident that when they handed their key in the recepton staff tried to cut their all inclusive wrist bands off so they would have to start paying for stuff and they'd got a few hours until pick up so we decided to hang on to our key. When came to leave they tried to charge us for being in the room longer but we hadn't been in the room, we had just kept the key - anyway my husband kicked off and eventually they didn't charge us.

Fortunately because this was our 3rd all inclusive it hasn't put us off going on all inclusive holidays, but Delta Sharm has put us off Egypt altogether and we don't think we will be going back.
