I have just come back from a 2 week holiday here with my boyfriend.
The hotel is a very nice hotel, not sure if I would say it is 4* but definately lovely to look at and it is kept spotless by the staff who work very hard.
Our room was cleaned to a high standar by Mohamed every day and he would regularly make lovely animals out of our towels which was nice.
The pools were freezing but I guess its a hot country so cant expect them to be heated! They were very clean though as were the areas surrounding the pool.
The lobby was nice and the few shops in the hotel were decent and not badly priced but a couple of thr shop owners were slightly annoying like the perfume guy! But the jewellery shop owner and the guy who owned the bazaar shop opposite the toilets was a nice guy too.
The restaurant was big but I didnt like the flies that would fly in there constantly. I know it is hard as the doors are open so they can easily fly in but they must do something to stop that as they would go on the food sometimes. The food itself is not that bad. There was alot of variety but in all honesty it did get very repetetive and towards the end of my holiday I was sick of seeing the same food. Plus it is very bland. But the chefs were very nice especially the guy who would do eggs for breakfast and most of the waiters gave an excellent service especially Amro.
The animation team were great and provided entertainment throughout the day. We didnt stay around the pool much as we preferred the beach where it was much hotter and the sea was warmer. The beach isnt sand which was disappointing but the sealife does not disappoint, snorkelling around there is a must, it is amazing! And def do scuba diving, u can do an introductory dive for £25, well worth the money!
We organized a few trips through people on the beach, just boat trips and quad biking which was cheaper than our tour company.
If you go to Cairo go by plane as we went by coach and they drive like maniacs, I was very scared!
The hotel in all wasnt bad and I quite enjoyed my stay and the staff definately make this hotel. However, the only thing that spoiled it was the Europeans and Russians, they are so rude! They dont know how to say thanks and just stare at you like theyve never seen black people before!
Whereas every British person we met were lovely. I would definately stay at a more British orientated hotel next time.
Oh and some of the reception staff were rude I am sorry to say, Especially one in particular and when we asked for a wake up call twice, both times we didnt get it. When I went to complain the man (who incidentally wrote our hotel number on the sheet whihc I saw him do) checked the sheet and someone had purposely changed the last number of our room to an 8!
The hotel was nice but I would stay somewhere else next time
