After reading some of the reviews on here and how much they vary ie 10/10 to 1/10 we were wary of going to this hotel but i have tried to be as honest as possible with this my 1st hotel review.

Just returned back from Sunrise Island Garden on 25th June. Only 2 of us and our 1st time visiting Egypt (Booked to guarantee the weather - were we in for a surprise?).

Booked via Travel Republic and flew with XL from EMA.

Upon arrival at the hotel we were greeted with the usual "Welcome Home" which we agreed was a nice touch and also provided with drinks which seemed to taste wonderful even though we had only just travelled the 30 mins coach journey from the airport (Why 30 mins?? when it is so close dont ask me - closest hotel to the airport but we were last ones off the bus)

Anyway back to the Hotel - The room itself was in the far block near to the Health Spa on the ground floor. 3 Single beds but we coped. Rooms are spacious and furniture all ok. TV was ok as we spent a few nights watching the late films on the english channel .(Incidentaly found out how to re tune the tv near end of the holiday and got a better picture than it was originally)

Room was cleaned EVERY single day and towels changed when we asked them to be by putting them in the shower. We did have quiet a few flies for 1st couple of nights when we got back to the room but the room cleaner must have realised when he saw the swatted ones and closed the door while he cleaned the room after that. We did also get a few ants but realised the patio door was not fully closed and had no problems after that.

During our holiday our main complaint was the weather which is what we originally booked here for. It was just too hot and some days was measured as being 47 deg. My wife usually enjoys the sun but even she ended up using factor 30 cream to protect her.
The pools are a quick and easy relief from this heat and were regulary used.

Animation team are a good laugh and they ask if you want to join in with darts/aerobics/water polo etc or if you are feeling "Lazee today?" Felt sorry for the one guy that had his trunks removed in the pool while we were there but im sure he would get his own back !

Pool and Bed attendants were very helpful and only takes them about 2 days to get to remember your room number/if you want a umberella and where you like to laze around etc. Mohammed was really friendly and sorted us out every day!

Evening entertainment was a bit limited with kids disco starting at 20.30 and evening entertainment all finished apart from a few songs at 22:00. We did see a few shows Belly dancing/Spinning dancers etc which were very good and the opa opa song is very catchy and adictive (found myself humming it days after we got home)

Karaoke night was a laugh with the smallest selection of songs to choose i have ever seen (half a page of A4).

Food was all very well presented and variations were made each day with different themes. Waiters etc all very good in the restaraunts and bar staff always made you smile.

My wife did get some form of allergic reaction to something but we could not identify what it was. We went to see the doctor at the sister hotel and he gave her an injection with some medicine and creams which cleared this up straight away (Cost 80 Euros).

We also tried out the Cleopatra treatment at the health spa which comprised of -

5 mins Sauna/Coconut cream body wrap and sea salt to palms and feet/shower/jacuzzi/5 mins Sauna and then massage. This cost £30 each but lasted a total of 2 hours and we both enjoyed it.

Some building work was carried out while we were there around the pool bar area which was fitted with new floor tiles and also 4 off fans installed. This caused a disruption to getting drinks etc as you had to walk all the way round the pool for a drink. (see photo)

Snack bar food - Good

Beach at Sunrise Island View is also worth a visit if only to look at the fish off the jetty. Free bus every 10 mins. Free soft drinks and food from here using your wrist band and also alchoholic drink vouchers are available from customer services in reception.
Take your towels though.

Other points -

Shops near hotel - very good come in handy for drinks etc and my wife also had her hair braided at the hairdressers for £25

Blue & White Taxis - get on your nerves keep pipping /Men with camels - Avoid!!

Naama Bay - Shop keepers etc hassle you but just keep saying no. Taxi from hotel cost £10 return.

Would we return ? - Liked the hotel but we are used to a bit more nightlife and being able to go for a walk round at night. So maybe not! If you like Eygpt then you cant go far wrong with this hotel!!

Where to start!
Having just got back from a week in Sharm, we wanted to write our review with it all still in mind!
On arrival we were met with welcome drinks and escorted to the restaurant for a bite to eat (bearing in mind it was 11pm this was all very much appreciate!!!).
The rooms are comfy and clean, though we did seem to run out of towels the day before departure, which was a shame as we couldn't fault it outherwise. Aircon was a god send, though sometimes smelt a little unfresh. All our clothes and toiletries were always folded and arranged nicely. Bit like taking your mum with you!!
Pool was fantastic, and we did spend a few days lounging around it. Need to be up early to get a sun bed but there are lots! Activities going on througout the day to get involved with, such as darts, waterpolo, arabic lessons etc.
Really enjoyed the food, dinner being my favourite as each night a new theme was catered for in one corner. We saw iranian, mexican, german and italian, though egyptian was available to taste each night, and something more familiar if you'd rather. You can even order a breakfast bag the night before should you not be able to make it to breakfast (due to excursions etc), which are ok as a snack, but not exactly the full english! Tastey non the less. The other restaurants on site, grill and italian, looked great. Unfortunately you need to book about a week in advance to get the most out of your all inclusive package, and no priority is given to anyone who is only there for 1 week... We feel we missed out here!
The staff are all wonderful!! Smiley, hard working, always happy to help! Muhammed on reception and Wahed on the bar, always happy to see you regardless of the hour!! Really do make you feel at home.
The sister hotel, island view, allows you to get down on the beach and snorkel along the coral... this is a must!! The shuttle bus is opensided bliss, and the little man who drives it is a complete sweetie! Everytime we saw him, regardless of whether we were getting on the bus or not, he would wave and smile. The bus ride itself can't be more than 2 minutes, and is free! So in the hot sun, if you don't fancy the stroll, it's great!
Didn't really see much of the evening entertainment, as spent some time getting to know Naama Bay, but what we did see was excellent. Spinner dancers, performers, the lot.
To conclude, an excellent hotel! Always clean, always comfortable, with staff that seem to run on duracell!
Hoping to go again, but definately needs to be a 2 week trip - for booking into restauarants and seeing the rest of egypt!!

Across from the hotel are some shops, not owned by, but within the resort. All shops are great, perfumes, jewellry etc, but one that stays in our mind is the Tut Papyrus Institute, run by Oskar. The friendliest and most hospitable of the lot! Spent a few hours on various days enjoying Oskar's stories, and bought some beautiful papyrus from him! You must pop in, we learned more about Egypt from 30 mins with him, than I ever did at school!

Overall, an amazing week! Just a shame to have come back to England to rain!! :(

Well, all i can say is we had an amazing time in Sunrise. I had read many reviews on trip advisor before going and although 90% of the reviews are positive you cant help worry about the 10% that are negative. I really cant understand anyone who moans about the sunloungers being old, or the umbrella's being broken, or that the tiles in the bathroom could do with a wash !! well I have to say if thats all you could find time to look at whilst staying in a beautil place like Sharm then you really need to get out more. Myself and my partner had an amazing time, we chilled out by the pool some days and others we went on excursions which were excellent value for money.
Tiran Island was great for snorklin and the guides are really intelligent and their knowledge is excellent.
Tipping is a biggy here but again i think for how hard they work then a £1 tip really is nothing to get your nickers in a twist about they work 17 hours a day, they cant do enough for you and to show your appreciation by tipping a £1 or £2. Some of the comments on here i have to say really annoyed me, Sharm is the best holiday i have had, and their hospitality is unbelievable. If they were ignorant or gave you daggers then you probably offended them (not tipping) We had letters every other day from the hotel and from our rep wishing we were enjoying our stay at Sharm.
We also used the Laundery Service, we had a guy come and collect my laundery and did it all, and ironed it for 9euros (£6) what a service,.

I cannot fault this hotel, our room was excellent, really clean, huge bed, and the service was class A.

Dont be put off by the rumours of people who fall ill in Sharm, you have to remember its very hot there, my partner did get the "bug" but i have to say dont take any medication with you because it wont work as its not strong enough. My partner went to the chemist and he diagnosed him straight away gave him a course of antibiotics, he took a tablet before going to bed and in the morning he was back to normal. This did not spoil our holiday at all. I did not fall ill which is suprising as i am very sensitive and tend to catch anything thats going.

Please dont be put off by the small minority of negative feedback on here as their is really nothing to worry about.

We will definatly be going back in the future.

“Absolutley Fantastic”

We have just got back from this holiday and I cannot understand why people are moaning about this hotel, I think some people go out looking for things to moan about. We are coming back next year without a doubt.
We got our holiday very cheap and were expecting what the hotel would be like, but once we got there we could not believe how lovely it was. Trust me the pictures on this website do not do the hotel any justice what so ever!
The food is fine, there is so much choice and people who say they cannot find anything must be blind or something. We didnt fancy some of the stuff some days but still managed to get chips and meatballs and pasta etc, plus going on holiday is all about trying different food, if not you may as well go to skegness to eat McDonalds and Chippy food everyday.
The pools are lovely, the only problem is fighting for a sunbed as the Germans and Russians get up about 5 am to reserve one. All the sunbeds we used were fine, no broken or damaged ones. The staff at the hotel are so nice and cannot do enough for you. The room cleaners are great and did not disturb us if we put the do not disturb sign on. The beds are massive as well.
The beach is lovely and the bus is only 5 min if that. We got free soft drinks so cannot understand why some people reckon they had to pay, you do have to get vouchers from the hotel for alcohol but they give you plenty if you ask for them. I recommend snorkelling at the beach, its fantastic and take an underwater camera with you.You get a clean fresh towel everyday from the hotel also.
The entertainment tends to be rather poor at the hotel, although the animation team do try their best, a visit to Naama Bay is recommended.
We had a massage at the health spa on site, but we paid £30 and it was not worth it. I would say around £20 tops so make sure you knock them down.
I strongly recommend Sharm Excursions for any trips at all, they are so great. Please do not be put off about booking them online, you pay when you get to Sharm and they are so cheap! This being said, they are the same as you would pay the reps but just at a lower cost. Our rep was very annoyed with us when he found out we had booked with someone else, I feel it was because we werent earning him commission. We did almost everything whilst we were there and Sharm Excursions were brilliant.
We did the semi-submarine with a rep from the hotel and it is not worth £27. It is a good experience but if you are considering diving then dont bother as the diving is so much better.
We did the quad safari that cost us £20 for both of us and worth every penny. It is a brilliant thing to do so and you drive for about 2 hours through the desert, give it a go you will love it.
We did arrange the swimming with dolphins but there are about 8 of you and we found it is very overpriced.
We did the crocodile and reptile show, it was ok for something to do for an evening out.
We did Cairo and Luxor overnight and paid a small amount more than people pay for Cairo in the hotel with the reps. It was an amazing experience and I strongly recommend. Mohammed from Sharm Excursions truly makes the day for you and you feel like he is more of a friend than tour guide. He also kept in touch with us throughout our holiday to make sure we were ok and enjoyed our other trips. Luxor is very hot but you have to see the things there are to see there, it is what Eygpt is all about so save up and go by plane to do both of them. We only paid extra for drinks, all meals and hotel is included, worth every penny.
We also did 2 taster dives, this was the best experience I have ever had. It is brilliant to be in the Red Sea surrounded by all the marine life, we are already looking into coming back next year to do our PADI.
Finally we did the Camel safari, this is also very good and you have to try it, I think its rather painful for the boys tho, my boyfriend didnt stay on for the whole trip.
Any questions or contact information for Sharm Excursions please ask. If you google it you are bound to find it. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

“Not the best holiday we have had”

For starters; We returned from Sunrise Island Garden this morning.Certainly NOT 5 Star, and we have spent the last two weeks plane spotting. Originally described as some Aircraft noise, in fact you could see the people in the planes it is that close to the runway!!!!! Food, rooms & staff can only be described as moderate 2* maybe 3* at best. Weather was fantastic so hey ,in for a penny in for a pound.
2 days to go, get back to our room, we had been ROBBED from our SAFE DEPOSIT BOX in the room £285.00 CASH. Well this is where the fun started!!!!!! Once reported , 6 hotel security officers turned up and accused us of stealing our own money, after that ,they insisted on conducting their own investigation and carted off the room cleaner without any evidence if it was him. We were told that our opinions in this matter were not wanted regardless of who commited the crime. We were told by our Thomas Cook rep that if we wanted to make a formal complaint we would not be able to leave for at least another 6 days and would have to attend court over an hours drive away . We also found out that keys to our room etc were held by maintenance, reception, cleaners , security. In the end we had to sign a desclaimer exonerating the hotel and cleaner or we couldnt go home. So there , be extra careful with your money etc and trust no one .
