Agrree with previous comments that hotel is more a 3 star and could do with some up-grading in the rooms particularly the bathroom. However, the swimming pools were excellent including a seperate childrens pool and play area. Air con in room brilliant, free security boxes, rooms cleaned daily and friendly staff. I would definatley recommend meeting your Hotel Rep. we booked independently but was still given a rep called Ali. He gave us a short talk about Sharm did not push his excursions and actually helped us sort out our own trips. He was extremelly helpfull and honest e.g. he told us not to pay more than 30 Egyptian Pounds in a taxi for travel to the Old Town and Aqua Park Water park about 10 minutes drive away. Cleo Park water park is situated up the hill next to the Rosetta- 2 mins. walk, however they are charging the same admission as they do at Aqua Park which is ten times better, so well worth the £3 taxi fare to get there. As for haggling, make sure you agree a price before getting in a taxi and always offer less than the price even when buying a newspaper! We got ours for 15 E.P. (£1.50) when initially asked for 35 E.P. The hotel beach is not even worth walking to find, it is terrible, no room, no sun, no decent snorkelling. We paid 40 E.P. for the Public Beach (dont forget to take your towels) which gives you 4 sunbeds and 2 shades, when snorkelling walk to the right or left of the designated area and its brilliant. We booked a snorkelling excursion in town from a small booth at top of main street underneath the flying carpet dancer!! We paid 180 E.P. per. person which included 3 stops at sea and a nice lunch and drinks. We were picked up from our hotel and looked after by a great guy called Yasser. We found the touts in town to be a bit pushy but just say No, Thank-you- dont get into conversation as we did the first night and ended up in one of their shops for a good half hour! We met lots of genuine Egyptian people they do really like the English people and not just for their tipping, the Russian tourists seemed to be very rude and unfriendly, so a Thank-you and a smile goes a long way!

“lovely pool but would not give rooms 4 stars”

Tropicana Rosetta Hotel

Apr 13, 2008

the pool areas are very nice and clean, beds always available, great pool attendants, the room was large but needed updating and the bathroom was very grubby, breakfast was fine, overall hotel was very clean, but we did get sick of tipping all the time.
be careful crossing the very busy road outside to get to the beach and town center. the town center strip was a bit tacky when all lit up at night and even more grotty during the day.
great place for a winter destination for the weather but if i went again i would try another resort and would pick a 5 star hotel as i do not think tropicana rosetta is a 4 star.

“Good value”

Tropicana Rosetta Hotel

This hotel was in a good location - only a 10 minute walk to the centre of Naama Bay - take the beach front walk rather than the dual carriageway if you don't mind the hassle from the restaurant touts. The hotel was really good value. Clean rooms, good choice of pools and a decent, if boring breakfast (I wouldn't go for any other meal option). The staff varied from the excellent to surly but the latter type was rare. The cleaner brought fresh flowers to my room every day - ok it was for a tip at the end of the stay but it was nice anyway!
I would stay there again. Sure there are lots of other hotels with more to offer but for the last minute price we paid I was more than happy with our holiday.

“Nice Hotel”

We stayed at the Tropicana Rosetta for two weeks, Got to admit it was not the best hotel I have ever stayed in but it was far far from the worst, I found the majority of the staff were friendly, our room cleaner was a lovely guy, our room was always cleaned to a high level, fresh bedding and towels daily. The only problem we had with our room was the tv, we couldnt get a chanel at all, and the receptionist wasnt to botherd about that.
The pools were nice, bit cold, but you soon got used to it.
Yes there are a lot of steps up towards the back part of the hotel, but we were quite lucky are room was towards the front.
The breakfast wasnt our type of thing, therefor we only ate it one morning ( the first lol) was a bit of a hit and miss really, egg, bread, mashed potato, beans. I can certanly say first time i have ever had hot dogs for breakfast!
It took us about ten mins to get to Naama bay walking, yes the road is a bit of a problrm, but as long as you cross at the zebra youll be fine.
We would def go back to this hotel, as they say you get what you pay for, and as its a cheaper priced hotel it gives you spare cash to spend in Naama bay lol.

“Value for Money”

Tropicana Rosetta Hotel

3 of 5 stars
essex, england

This was my second visit to Sharm and I chose the Rosetta primarily because I was on a budget and it was £200-300 cheaper than the Hilton or the Jolie Ville.

The Rosetta has five areas, each with their own pool.
Jasmine is probably the newest and is where most Thomson guests are located.

Rooms - comfortable although decor is dated. Towels and beds changed daily if you wish. Bathroom basin has no plug. Rooms situated around the pool and will eirther have a terrace or balcony. Air con worked great.

Only real negative of the Jasmine rooms is that they are five minutes walk from main reception and dining room and the walk involves many steps.

One other problem was that there are no safety deposit boxes in the rooms - you have to use the ones in the reception (5 mins walk away) although they were free.

Tip - take your own kettle if you like a cup of tea.

Breakfast - Ok but egg station much too small with long queues daily.

Reception Staff - not particularly helpful

Beach - the only beach that is free for Rosetta guests is the New Tiran Beach which is located right round at the harbour end of the bay. This is at least 10 mins walk from the front of the Rosetta across the busy road. New Tiran Beach is horrible - packed in like sardines. I paid to go on other beaches instead.

Location - 10/15 mins walk into town. Taxi will cost 25LE if you don't feel like walking back after a night on the town in Naama Bay.

Water - do not drink the hotel water under any circumstances. A litre bottle of water costs 12LE from reception bar or 3LE from the shop just over the road.

Weather - fantastic - exceptionally hot for the time of year - 37 degrees. Sea temp was 24 degrees

Airport - taxi from hotel to airport will costs you 70LE. Make sure you ask him to drop you at Terminal 2.

Summary - hotel was fine - definetly 3 star and no more. Having previously stayed at the Jolie Ville I really noticed a massive difference on evertyhing. As the saying goes - 'you pay for what you get'. If you are on a budget then the Rosetta is perfectly okay but if you can afford it then it is worth paying that extra to stay in one of the good beach side hotels.

Rosetta is a value for money hotel and I still had a great holiday.
