Reef Oasis Beach Resort

Just returned from a week at Reef Oasis Beach Resort and to be honest prior to going we almost changed our hotel after reading some of the reviews. So glad we didn't. This hotel is fantastic. The service is first class, it's immaculately clean, the staff are friendly and can't do enough for you. The beach and facilities are excellent. Couldn't fault it. This really is a great hotel. Yes there is building work going on, but it's at the entrance as apart from going in and out didn't hear or see any of it. The resort is just huge and would think there's every change of getting the room changed if you are unlucky to be staying right at the front as there are so many rooms in different locations. The food was fine. The Grill restaurant over looking the beach was our fav - they have a fish night on Weds and Sunday and the king prawns are to die for. Only bad thing about the holiday were the flights. The flight out was with Koral Blue - don't go expecting much - you get one drink and a meal - we had nothing to drink until we'd be in the air for 2 hours - not even offered a glass of water. There is no duty free, entertainment or alcohol on the flight. Coming back for some reason we flew Cairo Aviation (were told it would be Koral Blue by Thomas Cook). OMG - the flight was dire. The plan was just awful (in looks and sound) and lets just say we are glad we are still around. Fantastic holiday, we'll definitely be booking to go again later in the year - same hotel.

Spent 10 days with my boyfriend at the Reef Oasis Beach Resort from 30th June - 10th July 2008. The grounds of this hotel are beautiful, and kept so clean!
The food in the 3 buffet restaurants was nice, but is more or less the same every day so it can get boring.
I highly recomend the Moonlight a-la-carte restaurant. Other than not being included in the all-inclusive package, I cannot fault this restaurant. Perfect for a romantic end to the holiday. The views are beautiful, food is spectacular, and they play love songs in the background. Very Romantic!!

Our room was in the 900's block right near the building work, which funnily enough, was lovely!! because of the building, many people move away from this area, therefore it was very quiet and peaceful! I remember only hearing the builders once in the 10 days we were there. The room was lovely. It was cleaned everyday. We only had one problem with the cleaner when he didnt bring towels one day so we had to dry off using our pool towels! We tipped him one day and he left petals and heart shapes on our bed - but expected to be tipped every day because he did this! The only bad thing about the room is the mini-bar was not free!!?!

The beach is wonderful. Fantastic views! along the jetty you can see all sorts of tropical fish .. its amazing. if you walk along there at night, all the lion fish come out, what a sight they are!!

We did the Tiran Island trip and i highly reccommend it. its a boat trip that stops in 3 top snorkelling spots and offers a buffet lunch (which i enjoyed more than the food at the hotel!!). This trip was great value for money working out to be about 30GBP pp.

At the Columbo Bar at night, the waiter called Sherif is fantastic! He's so funny!! Tip him once, and he will bring your drinks to your table, and if your a drinker, hes VERY generous with the alcohol!!

Overall this holiday was wonderful, I dont think I would return to this hotel however as its not the best all-inclusive i have stayed in, but i would definately reccomend it to friends as my boyfriend and I had a fantastic time!!
Enjoy the Reef Oasis!!

Just returned from two weeks and what a fabulous place. Two children and two adults, we were given a large family room with sliding door to seperate children from adults. It was more like two rooms. It was spotless and cleaned and beds made every day. A large tv which showed english films and cartoon network meatn the kids could go in at night whilst we enjoyed a drink at the rama bar from where see could see the door to the room.
The room was right beside the rama pool which was very handy. The area was kept spotless by pool boy and did not find it too difficult to get a lounger every day.
The beach was a ten minute walk, okay going down but hard going returning at night up the hill. We found that if you were not down there by about nine it was difficult to get a lounger in the shade. However if you didn't mind wating till after three, many became vacant and it was not too difficult getting them then. The water was grogeous and warm and snorkelling was fantastic.
I found the food fine. There was three free restaruants and if you do not act as if you have to fill your plate with every kind of food on offer, three times a day, you could easily last the fornight without being bored. For breakfast you could have prorridge, cereals, breads cheese croissants, yhogurts, fruit, toast, pancakes, waffles, ommlettes, and bacon and others. Luch and dinner you could get soups, meats, pasta fish, pizza, salad etc. I do not eat meat and still found the variety to be plentiful. The vast majority of staff were extremely pleasant . We tipped every few days but the problem was when a waiter 'claimed' you as theirs and then another waiter got you when you entreed one night, it could be quite embarrasing. I would suggest taking some english pound coins and tipping who ever serves you that night instead of feeling you have to remain loyal to one particular waiter. I think they would give great service anyway, they were so nice. Two of us got the bug, no idea why the othet wo didn't. It was not peasant, but some people pay a lot of money for colonic irrigation - I am sure it was a good detox. I woud totally recommed this hotel, especially as we ended up in the Hilton Dreams for several hours on our last day due to our flight being delayed - this hotel did not seem half as nice. It had blaring music on for hours and the staff not so freindly. Also if you want to book toors to cairo ect, I suggest going into the market and doing it thought one of those agents, we saved nearly two hundred poundsdoing it this way.

“GREAT HOLIDAY”

Reef Oasis Beach Resort

5 of 5 stars
Whitehaven, United Kingdom

just arrived back on friday morning and what can i say but a great holiday cannot complain about anything, the hotel on arrival was beautiful with a long drive with terracotta pots on either side then going into reception which is all marble tiles and sofas with internet access.
we checked in to be given a room with 3 single beds between 4 of us we went and complained and got moved straight away to room153 which was ideal, the room was clean with fresh towels and bedding every day, our cleaner was called mohammed as are most of them called this but he was lovely and friendly.
the relax pool was a short walk for us it was cleaned every day by adhem he would bring you mattresses and put your parasol up for you if needed and believe me you will because the weather was brilliant but our 2nd week it hit 55 degrees and was unbearable but thats what you go for we all came back with a lovely tan.
i found the walk down to the beach a trek i had to keep stopping for a rest but at night it,s all lit up, the beach was gorgeous clear blue water with fish swimming round your feet but my son doesn,t like salt water so we only stayed down a while but you must dive off the jetty and see all the colourful fish its an experience as the water is so clear and blue, there,s a snack bar which serves burgers pizza kebabs chips and so on.
the main restaurant got quite busy as there is so much to choose from we spoke to some people who ate out as they got sick of the food, the staff were great and would do anything for you infact all the egyptians are lovely,
we wnt into naama bay which is an eye opener as soon as you get out of the taxi you get hassled but a quite no thank you does the trick we had a mcdonalds twice and tried to get into hard rock cafe but there was a 45min wait, we also went to the water park this was a great day out plenty of rides and sun loungers.
the whole holiday was brilliant and would recommend it to anyone its such a lovely place.
do not be put off by the building work as it does not affect you in any way but the mosque you could hear them praying 5 times a day worse at 4.10 every morning
best holiday yet!!!

“Our experience of the Reef Oasis”

Reef Oasis Beach Resort

Jul 20, 2008
1/2 found this review helpful

Returned from a two week holiday on the 7th July, 2 adults and 2 teenage girls. I had read all the reviews and coresponded with people who had recently been to the reef oasis so had a few different opinions of this hotel, i knew there was building work but decided to go anyway. I had requested adjoining/ rooms next to each other. Arrived late due to delays and had to request a move immediatly as rooms were spread out, we were tired so stayed in the second room, next morning opened the curtains to be confronted by a building site with men peering at the swimming pool. Was moved 2 days later to rooms 173/174 which were much better.

We were all ill, 2 days for me, bad stomach, feeling sick and the worst stomach cramps i have ever had. The diharreah continued for 6 days on and off. My friend ill for 11 days, only stopped when we had been home for a week. Kids few days of feeling sick. Every person i spoke to was ill and to varing degrees. Some people had to get the t ablets from the pharmacy and others had to have the Doctor out to give them injections, there are many theories as to the cause my opinion is its the pools. i never once saw the pool man test the water and as so many people had the runs it had to be something we were all doing that made us all so ill, yes we were all in the pool as it was so hot and most people did not stick to the rule of not going in the pool for 72 hours if you had been ill.

Heat: it was very hot and the nights did not cool enough to make it pleasant, i would suggest going April and October.

Food: 3 places to eat but only the main resterant is air conditioned, the food was repetative and sometimes unidentifiable. I do not eat red meat and some of the mixed salads etc were not labelled. It all looks clean and well presented bt i would not say its 4/5 star food. The resturant over loking the beach is a lovely location but not air conditioned and is full of sparrows that steal your fod if you leave the table for a second, they have also got cat scarers that make high pitched noises that are supposed to scare the birds all it did was hurt my daughters ears,(adults cant hear the sounds) i would be careful if you have small children. Italian rstaurant was the best food but unbearable heat as not air conditioned.

REP; Jo the Thomas Cook rep was great so if you have a problem go to see her in the hotel reception.

Tipping: i think you should tip when you have recieved good service not before you recieve it. I dont agree with paying to be treated like a King as some people have said in previous reviews. Most of the staff were excellent at their job without being bribbed to fetch and carry for you. I did tip near the end of our stay and i think if we stick to this the Egyptian staff will continue in there curtious way to provide a good service to all not just the few.

Beach: no toilets on the beach which is hidious if you have a bad stomach!!! Food drinks on the beach, enough beds but very close together, the reef is excellent, walk along the pontoon at night the fish are amazing.

You get pestered by people trying to get you to have beauty treatments, hair braiding and Henna tatoos. This stops when you get a tan as they dont bother as they know they have already asked you.

Disco; My children went said it was ok.
Animation team; if you have smal children i heard they do take English children and all the workers spoke english however i think they catered for the itlian, Russian children. The evening shows were awful but i never expect to much. Not enough seats to watch show and its boilng hot again no air conditioning.

Summary.
It will be lovely when its finished, our pool had a swim up bar but only self service water and juice. Its huge so be prepared for a walk, its safe for teengaers to have some independance in the evening. The stomach issue really does need looking into . Trips, we went on the Tiran Island snorkling trip it was excellent well worth the £33. each. Staff very nice. Nama Bay awful, well maybe ok if your 19 years old and want bars and clubs and tacky souverniers. We met some nice people and it was lovely not to be surrounded by English people the mix of nationalities works well and is a welcome change. Towel war's continue and im afraid we are getting as bad as some of our other european cousins so you may not get a lie in as you may have to get up at 6.30 if you want a sun bed by the pool!!!. Im happy to answer any questons anyone has. Good luck and enjoy.
