“Pleasant enough, but the Hilton fayrouz has the better location!”

We stayed at the Hilton Dreams in December 2007. The hotel is nice enough, bigs pools, staff very pleasant & helpful and as a Hilton honors member we were given a very nice upgraded room near the front of the complex & reception.
I wouldn't like to have stayed in one of the rooms further away from reception as it would be quite a trek in the heat.
If you are a pool person and don't usually leave your hotel much then you will probably like this place.
The dining hall looks lovely, high ceilings, big glass windows and chefs are lovely and will happily cook you something special if you cant find what you want.
I am vegetarian and the chefs noticed this and made me a massive plate of fresh hot falafels which was very sweet.
Waiters are funny and there is the option to sit outside if you wish.
It can get very nosiy & "canteen-like" in the dining room, very bad acoustics, be warned. We prefered to sit outside and to be honest I would recommend going B&B and eating in one of the many places in Namma Bay instead - you really are spoilt for choice within 5 minutes walking of the hotel and the atmosphere is so much nicer plus you get a better variety.
The Dreams is situated on the wrong side of a busy dual carrigeway and you need to cross this road to get to the beach, shops etc. Ok if you are fit & healthy, but if you have mobility problems or small children I would recommend staying in the Hilton Fayrouz which is right on the beach with no roads to cross.
There are no pedestrian crossings, just an island in the middle of the road and the taxi drivers drive very fast and are constantly honking their horns and shouting at you looking for custom. It can get annoying when all you want to do is cross the road!!
If you are a pool person then maybe the road will not bother you, but there is some great snorkeling from the Fayrouz beach so it seems a shame not to experience it!
The Fayrouz beach is lovely & wide & sandy - the best in Namma bay infact! You exchange your pool card for towels on the beach.
In summary, if you can get a cheap deal then I would recommend this hotel BUT if you have mobility problems I would suggest the Hilton Fayrouz, Novotel beach or the Jollie Ville instead - all great hotels.
Out of town, I can also highly recommend the Hilton Waterfalls - a fantastic beachside hotel with great snorkelling and you can get some great rates directly on the Hilton website.

“Great location superb hotel”

We chose this hotel specifically from reviews on Trip Advisor.
We had stayed at Um El Cid previously in the Renaissance Golden View which was a fantastic hotel but we had to get taxis every night into Naama Bay which became a pain so decided to stay right in the centre this time.
The hotel is well laid out , beautifully presented and seems to have pools round every corner so none are crowded.
We went B and B only as all reviews on hotels on an All Inc basis were bad. The breakfast was like all buffet breakfasts - cereal/ fruit / saus/ toms/ bread/ cheese, eggs - all style etc and you could not complain at all.
The rooms are nice if in need of a little TLC but well looked after and have a fridge, free safe, tea/ coffee facilities and daily supply of shampoo/ cond etc. If you want a double bed you need to request them as most rooms appear to be twin beds. The hotel supply pool and beach towels which help with small luggage allowance .
The weather was perfect late 80's early 90's and not a cloud in the sky and the hotel had 2 heated pools which was good as they needed to be in March as water was cool.
To get to the beach you have to go across main road and through the Hilton Farooq which is not a problem at all and the Hilton beach is by far the nicest one along the front. Also you have free unlimited access to the Cleo Waterpark as a Hilton guest which is behind the hotel which we didn't discover till too late.
It is 5-10 mins walk to centre of Naama Bay where there are loads of restaurants at reasonable prices our favourite was the Chinese above shopping centre and the Pomodora. The locals do hassle you a bit to go in their shops but not as much as on our last visit.
At night walk along prom for happy hours but beware of the Gazala Beach bar as you will wait about 20 mins to get served!!
Overall we liked being nearer Naama Bay the snorkelling is good but is better at El Um Cid as you are actually on the reef . The Sharm Dreams was a lovely hotel and staff could not do enough for you.

“As I see it (unbiased outlook)”

Hilton Sharm Dreams Resort

Mar 19, 2008
5/5 found this review helpful

Last minute booking done before reading reviews on Tripadvisor.
Read reviews and they were somewhat mixed but thought Heck! you cant please everyone and some are quite picky!
1. Hotel: not a five star as advertised but a good four star is more appropriate, was quite taken aback that my accommodation was a good ten minutes walk from reception and dining rooms. Several pools gave enough rooms for all nationalities to wallow in the sunshine on the loungers provided, I may be wrong but it seemed as if the Brits were shoved to the back of the vast complex. All staff were very obliging and all requests were promptly carried out, daily linen changes/room cleaning with "bed decorations" (see photos). Room had kettle/tv/minibar/bath with shower attachment and for the fellows, three channels which seem to show 24hr football ranging from vintage games to latest champions league (much to the wifes disgust!)
2. Food: We were told as halfboard that we could eat outside our alloted foodhall and that the allowance given would be £1.40 per meal and we would have to pay the rest, We thought this was a little on the cheap side and we were prepared to stay with the allocated hall. That is until we tried the food! Breakfast was ok, two fried eggs on toast and a bit of fruit was enough and other variations were available (if you liked continental) Evening meals were, quite frankly absolute rubbish!. I have never encountered such bad main courses in my life (and I served in the forces for 15 years) usually two choices, chicken casserole and bits of fish. The whole place is geared up to cater for the Italian/Germanic taste but they must have no teeth as you could serve it to an infant as it was so mushy! I am not a fussy eater and have travelled vastly over the years but after a few days we decided "enough was enough" and ate outside in the many resteraunts along the sea front (but dont try the lobster or your risking a dodgy tum)
3. Hassle: There were quite a few comments about the constant hassle people got from the vendors, some getting quite upset! I'm sorry but you have to be prepared for this in most places now a days, you just have to be strong enough to say "no" I find that if you give as good as you get, it can be quite a game and have its funny moments and usually you get a better bargain. Rule of thumb in Sharm is dont buy in Sharm, go to the old market for your buys but check to see if they are not seconds! If they ask for 20ep offer 5 and settle for maybe 7 or 8, if you start to walk out of the shop they usually take the last price you offered. "Be Strong"
3. Nightlife: None in the hotel as far as we could see but plenty of life outside including a couple of casino's, plenty of bars and lots of cafe/bars where you can sit and enjoy the local water pipes with plenty of herbal essences (and so I was informed, stronger substances were available). Beer is 2GBP a bottle and forget about shorts, only Heather McCartney can afford them! Sakara is a good local brew and checkout the Camel divers bar in the main street (upstairs) for the cheapest drink and good views.
4. Trips: Went snorkelling off the wreck near Sharm and that was fantastic, like swimming in someones aquarium - recommended. Jeep safari was quite good with a snorkelling session in the Blue pool - also recommended. The submarine boat was a let down for the money but purely because we were sat on the right side of the boat and all the fish were on the left (no room to move over!) People who visited Petra and Cairo all agreed that it was well worth the visit for the antiquaties but quite expensive and that Cairo was a dirty smoggy very busy dump!
5. Return?: I would go back just for the sun and snorkelling (best in the world), and would love to complete the Padi diving course. I would only go B & B or room only, The Dreams is ideally located and as previously stated of good standard.

“Reality of sharm dreams”

Hilton Sharm Dreams Resort

The hotel is lovely and kept very clean. The staff are excellent and can't do enough for their guests. Guests can use the waterpark - "Cleopark", which is situated behind the hotel, for free of charge. Guests can also use the private beach which is just across the road from the hotel, located at the Hilton's sister hotel. Again the beach is very clean and the staff ensure guests are well looked after. Resort is situated closely to the centre of Naama Bay - about 5 minute walk. The taxis do beep their horns and ask if you require a taxi but it is very non threatening and when you say no they just drive on. We were B&B and there is a great selection on offer. Also ate in the Mexican and Italian restaurants at the complex and thought the Italian is the better of the two. Overall we had a very relaxing and pleasant holiday and would definitely return to Sharm Dreams resort. The staff really can't be spoke highly enough of.
