“Just returned from other great holiday at HSB.”

Just returned from other great holiday at HSB. As always the Egyptian staff were extremely helpful and friendly, it is these hard working guys that make the hotel so special. The food was enjoyable, with a different menu every night but some people may think there is a lack of presentation in the layout of the buffet. The only exception was a Pina Colada at the pool bar, served warm, even with ice and the milk curdled on the top. The towel art was excellent this stay, especially the man watching TV.

The hotel is starting to look in need of a facelift (especially the bathrooms and the jetty at the beach) but with everything kept clean and with the great weather and staff, this was not a major issue. One evening we visited the new extension across the road, with one of the managers and were impressed with what we saw. The centre of the complex is a very large pool area, complete with beach, slides and two large bars. The rooms are on two floors around the outside of the complex. They were large with both a shower and bath and all rooms had an outside area overlooking the pools. Both of us cannot wait to return again in November and hopefully switch from our normal room behind reception to the new extension.

Also once again the onsite dive centre was very accommodating with my requirements. The guides are all well trained and always have your safety in mind. As mentioned above the jetty at the beach needs some maintenance as some of the cells have split. This is not a problem if you are just snorkelling but in full dive gear you can easily loose your balance.

Overall and excellent week and great value for the money, we cannot wait to return.

“everthing and more”

Hilton Sharks Bay Resort

We booked our holiday last october and have read reviews of this hotel on and off since then, some good and some not so good, we were not dissapointed from the moment we arrived at the Hilton Sharks Bay, we had excellant service we checked in quickly and with out any fuss, taken to our room on a golf buggy while being given the "grand tour" of the resort even though it was 10.30pm, our room was spacious and clean with towels changed daily and extra towells even on some days, towel art was great and kept us amused, The food: Great choice for the buffet breakfast and lunch time burgers and salad bar, Pasta and fresh fruit, i would say something for everyone, unless you are really fussy, Evening time we preferred to eat in the Mafouse restaurant as your meal was served by the waiters, the set menu portion's were small for some but they were quite happy for you to go to the upstairs buffet and have some more potatoes or rice and veg to supplement your meal, if you wanted. Some men were even give an extra meal if they wanted. a little complaint the menu was the same the following week, but we didn't mind and there was always one of their excellant pizza's if you wanted a change. desserts were excellant. Drinks: wine was a good all rounder for all three, and the vodka was certainly drinkable , did not try the cocktails, Bottled water was available by the pool and two large bottles left in your your room, and replaced when needed, we really needed this as the temp. was in the 40's. Did drink the beer and this was also great.Soft Drinks, Pepsi, Seven Up and tango, but only diet pepsi, no other diet options. Around the main pool sometimes by 11.00am all the loungers had been taken and towells were taken off reserved loungers and some people were a bit peeved, but we were always there by 9.30am and there were no problems, the beach area is man made and swimming is off the pontoon, we stuck to the pool area. The entertainment team always tried to get everyone involved and Adam,Luca,Bakka & Tony were there everyday asking people to join in the water polo and aquagym, the evening enternaiment ranged from great to o.k the Fire show was very good and singers o.k also the Egyption dancers especially the whirlling dervish which was excellant. We booked the meal on the beach for my birthday and we were not dissapointed the food was execellant as was the service. we could not fault anything. they also brought a birthday cake to my room on that evening, free of charge and waiter asked whose birthday it was and wished me a happy birthday. The room boy had made a special display that day with my cards and the towels and put petals on the bed. The catering mangager Andrew, was always in the dining room at some point during the day keeeping an eye on everything, although everthing seemed to be running smoothly. The staff were excellant always happy and smiling, each one worked really hard from the boys giving out the towels and looking after the pool to the waiters, cleaners and gardeners, everything always done with a smile and a good morning/evening etc.
We can't wait to return the sooner the better.

“nightmare in egypt”

Hilton Sharks Bay Resort

Jul 20, 2008
5/18 found this review helpful

just returned from egypt, what a nightmare. it's the first time me and my partner has wished the days away quickly so we could escape.
we stayed at the hilton in sharks bay. the hotel was clean and the staff were friendly but that was about the limit of it. this was the second time we travelled all inclusive and will def be the last. the food was rubbish. the local drinks were foul. my partner spent ten days rushing from toilet to toilet.
the entertainment was non exsistant, the main source of entertainment seemed to be kareokee in the chill out bar (if i wanted to be entertained this way, i would of stayed at home and gone to the local pub). the buffet bar was substandard. the breast chicken was served by the chef's who gave you three small pieces the size of nuggets and a dozen french fries (i didn't go on holiday to audition for oliver twist and have to ask for more while in a queue). service at the pool bar was rigid. if you wanted an ice cream and was 30seconds before time, you wouldn't get it. at the sunset bar, drinks ceased at 12am on the dot and if you were in a queue, you didn't get served.
the main reason i went to sharm was for the diving. this was outstanding, but my partner was left at the pool for three days having to dodge the ball from the water polo and voleyball hitting her while she sunbathed while i completed my padi course.
when we ventured into naama bay, we were subjected to the locals trying to fleece as much of your money as they could. they target the english because they think we're soft touches and get upset when you fob them off.
there is no nightlife in naama, so don't go there if you expect some entertainment.
in turkey it is against the law for locals to hassle tourists, so the sooner it happens in egypt the better.

“3rd time back and still enjoyed it”

Hilton Sharks Bay Resort

We have just got back from 2 weeks at the Hilton Sharks Bay.
This was our 3rd visit. We go back because we love the weather hotel good choice of food as much or as little as you want. The staff and managment are all willing to please and freindly. The last 2 times we went i and a tummy upset this year i was ok but my husband had it for 24 hrs (to much drink and spicey food)There are 5 pools we like the one by the little bridge, i emailed the hotel and asked if we could have a room overlooking the pool we had a lovely veiw.
The only negitive point for us was the entertainment if you sat in the chill out bar it was to loud
Are we going back?? you bet been looking at prices today.

“great holiday”

Hilton Sharks Bay Resort

Jul 16, 2008

After a huge amount of time on trip advisor we chose this hotel for myself , husband and 2 kids 6 and 4.
We had a great holiday , the hotel was excellent all very clean and lovely swimming pools, rooms were not bad we had a family room 2 twin beds and a sofa bed which was fine as our boys are young.
Most people have commented on everything so main facts are great value for money , great snorkeling , food good but we did go to the hard rock cafe twice just for a change as it does get a bit repetative if you are there for 2 weeks.
The large kids pool with the slide is great we sat there most days, first week we got a sunbed ok second was busier we tipped the pool guy 50 about a fiver and he put our towels out the second week.
Three of us had the dreaded tummy cramps , order antinal { a stomach antibiotic} from reception it takes around an hour to come and is a couple of pounds or less much cheaper than buying it yourself outside, it does the trick in no time and there is a kids liquid one too.
water park was a good day out and free you only have to pay for the hotel bus , food is cheap here , remember your flipflops the ground is burning hot. Kids club was good just by the pool so easy for the boys to pop in and out.
Entertainment ok for us, we met some great people and spent evenings with them if you are looking for the butlins/Spain thing you will be dissapointed.
For a great price and all inclusive you can't go wrong although it was very hot 44 most days maybe earlier or later in the year would be better , I would return to this hotel if I was coming back to Sharm the staff are also great and very friendly.
