I got back from Sol Sharm a few weeks ago now but it was brill. I panicked so much as a lot of the earlier reviews moaned about food and service etc. I'm quite a fussy person with food and was ill with food poisoning when i came back from Dominican Republic last year so i was worried it was going to happen again.
The food was brill, obviously don't go expecting them to stick on proper English food and chips every day. Breakfast was good, fresh pancakes, omlettes, pastries, cereal and then they catered for everybody so there was meat, cheese, salad and then some cooked stuff. At lunch they did chicken, beef and fish, there everyday but cooked differently so it wasn't the same and again with fresh salad, pasta and rice salad, soup, fresh bread rolls, fresh pasta made with your own choice of sauce and ingredients....loads really, and then same for dinner more or less but there is always more than one thing your going to like!
The pool was freezing! It's fresh water so they don't heat it and unless you've got the hottest day in the world then just stick to sunbathing! The sea is warm and your can access the beach either by walking down - takes about 2 minutes, or they put on a shuttle bus which we hopped on going back up to the hotel coz it's up a slight hill but really it takes 2 seconds to get back so it's lazy really!
The beach has a jetty which you can see from photos and it's great coz you can see loads of sea life - there is one fish that's alwyas in the same place with a purple mask and yellow lips, will have to post a photo and loads of swordfish-well they looked like swordfish, but smaller! it's great though coz you can go swimming off the jetty - there's steps going in to the sea. Sunbeds and drinks at the bar are also free down there if you're all inclusive-just so you know.
The entertainment staff at the hotel were good, some of the shows were excellent-they are really good performers, although they mime all the songs some of the choreographng is excellent!
Me and my boyfriend only went on one trip - it's booked through the dive centre next to the hotel pool and you go snorkelling/scuba diving around different sites in the bay - there's a really cool ship wreck too. I only went in once-as soon as i stuck my head in the water the 1st thing i saw was the biggest sting ray i have ever seen laying on the bottom of the water! There was also a lot of jelly fish but they are non-stinging so don't worry!
We also went in to Naama Bay a couple of nights, it's so busy all the time! beware of blokes wanting to help you cross the road at the taxi drop off point-they just want cash and even though zebra crossings mean nothing to cars - we were quite capable of making it accross without getting run over! try smoking a shish pipe...loads of really fruity flavours and it's not drugs like a lot of people thought! Although we didn't eat there, there are so many restaurants on naama bay beach and they all look lush! It doesn't cost a lot to get to naama bay from the hotel can't remember how much but it's easy enough, there's a taxi rank in the hotel reception area.
Erm what else, can't remember, oh yeh, they have a ping pong table, how ace is that!
Anyway, if you want to ask me anything then send me an email and i'll answer all your questions.
