“Excellent Week at the Sonesta”

We stayed for a week 28/2 - 06/03 at the Sonesta on a B&B basis. Arrived about 7pm and checked in fine, got our cases taken to the room as the complex is very big, over 500 rooms really spread out. We stayed in room 2603. The room was absolutly massive. We had a bathroom, dressing room, bedroom, lounge area, spare room with bed and an empty room.

Breakfast everything you can think of, chef at an "egg station" which will do you fresh eggs to your liking. The service in the hotel was second to none, they could not do enough for you and always very friendly. It was mothers day while we were out there and as we went with my boyfriends mum and dad we ordered her some flowers to be delivered to her room. This was really easy to do and worked a treat.

We stayed round the cactus bar and pool all week, mainly because it was heated and the nearest pool to our room. The pool was a nice temp.

The room was cleaned every day, fresh towels and the bed was like a super kingsize.

I wish that we has upgraded to all inclusive as we struggled to find somewhere to eat for lunch. We ended up ordering room service to the bar, which was ok. We walked about 10 minutes to the promenade then another 10 - 15 minutes to the main part of nama bay, but it is a nice walk with bars to stop off on on the way. We did walk along the main road once but got bored of the taxis beeping all the time, funny you can never get one at home!!!!

Places I would recommend you go to eat are Onions and Dananeer both in nama bay, the food was sooooo lovely and really cheap, onions for the king prawns (massive) and Dananeer for the steak, melts in your mouth.

Oh some things that are good...........free air conditioning and safe which is in the room. Also there was hot water all the time, not like some solar heating where you have to be quick getting a shower which was a bonus. What else can I say we had a really fab week there and are alrealy looking at prices to go back next year. You don't need to worry it is really really clean and the staff never stop working, always someone cleaning or gardening..

Please feel free to e mail me any questions.

“Sonesta experience”

Sonesta Beach Resort & Casino

This is a very clean and quiet resort. The staff take great care in looking after the place and make you feel very welcome. They are very professional and seem to genuinely care about pleasing their guests. Sonesta isn't the flashiest all-inclusive in Sharm but what it lacks in frills it makes up for in character. The traditional architecture is really interesting and diverse.

FOOD
There are 5 restaurants in the resort and we tried to eat at most of them. If you are expecting home away from home with table after table of English food you'll be disappointed. The traditionally english food they serve may not be prepared to your taste but the Egyptian and other "oriental" food they serve is fantastic and there is a great deal to choose from.

Be aware that they cater for many eastern eurpoean guests so some of the breakfast selection is a little perculiar and the deserts aren't always that great, unless you're a fan of flan.

POOLS
There are 7 pools in the resort and all of them were very clean and well designed. Unfortunately, many of them were too cold due to the time of year but we did enjoy using 1 of the 2 heated pools, which were very generously sized.

BEACH
THe beach is owned by the resort but is on the edge of Na'ama Bay so it isnt huge. Pool shoes are recommended for going in the water as it is quite rocky but well worth it as the water is temperate and there are many different types of fish to enjoy when snorkelling.

ROOMS
We had a twin room which was adequate. THe beds are a little on the hard side but still comfortable. The rooms stay cool due to the dome design and the bathrooms are well equipped.

LOCATION
Na'ama Bay seems to be a hotspot if you wish to leave the hotel and it is a nice walk along the promenade but the local shop keepers do little for the area. As with other countries near by, their feel its appropriate to hassle you at every opportunity to try and get you into their shop. You can handle it once or twice but its gets very frustrating after that and it put us off leaving the resort again.

This hotel was a great first choice for us visiting Egypt but I dont think Sharm El Sheikh offers enough to tempt us back again. After speaking to people in other hotels, we realised we made a very good choice with Sonesta and i would reccommend anyone to only stay in resorts from international names eg. Hilton, Marriott and of course, Sonesta.

this hotel is not what it appears, on the website it appears to be clean however it was filthy, after sleeping in the bed the first night i had bites which resembled flee bites. Would never go back, we had to be moved rooms only to be put in one with chewing gum on the bathroom floor, dirty bed linen whcihc we had to wait on someone coming to change.

“Very nice and clean, great staff!”

We have just got back from a great holiday at the Sonesta Beach hotel, and we had a really good time. We were in a family room, which was well equipped with a hairdryer, seperate dressing room, small second bedroom and terrace area. The room was cleaned daily, and was spotless. The beds are quite uncomfortable though, thats one downside. The hotel itself is huge, with 6 pools and a small private beach. We only went onto the beach once, as its not a priority for us, but when we did, we found it to be clean with adequate sunbeds for us to use, although I imagine at high season its full pretty quickly. The heated pool and the dome restaurant nearby was lovely, and there is a small bar by the pool serving drinks and snacks all day. One thing though, the ice creams here were not included in the all inclusive offer - devastating for the kids!!!
The hotel food was ok, but repetetive. Lunches tended to be nicer than the evening food but as there are so many places to eat cheaply in naama bay, I recommend you go out to eat a few nights in the evenings.
Whilst we were in Naama bay, we went to swim with the dolphins at the dolphinarium (£75 per person), and also went to the aquapark in Habada which was brilliant! We got a taxi from outside the hotel and the driver drove us there and picked us up at 4pm as agreed, and it cost 80 egyptian pounds. (£8).
3 of our party went scuba diving from the onsite dive centre, for 400 egyptian pounds each, which was good, but I'm not sure if it would have been better from another location. The dive went from the hotels beach and there were boats travelling over our heads! Not too good if you need to come to the surface in a hurry! All in all the hotel was totally adequate for our needs, not luxurious, but not scruffy either.

“great place to holiday”

jan 2008 me & my wife have just returned from staying at the sonesta beach hotel . (we were originally booked into gazzalla gardens hotel but the y sold all the rooms again to the russians ) glad they moved us cos sonesta was very good . very clean and tidy . there seemed to be people working 24/7 cleaning and tidying the gardens and they were always polite and always had a smile on there faces . the only down thing was the food as it always seemed the same things all the time and wasn"t very hot . the casablanca bar was very good though with 7 choices of main dishes . the waiters were excellent and were worth the tips they recieved from guests . entertainment was good if you liked belly dancing . we will recommend this hotel if any friends are going to egypt. the hotel is only a 10 min walk along the beach & only £2 for a taxi . night-life in town was good and eating out was very cheap about £10 for a 3 course meal . must-do"s are quad biking , ras mohammad national park ,snorkling ,diving, and the cleo park waterpark these can all be booked at the hotel beach and are not expensive . the casino is very good if you want a change you can bet, drink, eat & also catch a show.all in all a very good place to holiday and will be going back
