“Fabbo Ritz C”

The Ritz-Carlton, Sharm El Sheikh

Now.....the Ritz C has had a mixed review from people. Well me and my girlfriend just returned from two weeks there and here are our honest views.

Wonderful welcome to start our holiday...a warm greeting and very efficient staff at check in. Our room was beautiful and spacious and clean as you would expect.

The hotel and grounds are simply stunning.......staff are very friendly and really appreciate you attempting to speak in Arabic..you will notice a difference if you do. The restaurants are expensive, but go half board deluxe and it makes a huge difference. Drinks are v expensive, but no more so that other 5 star hotels around the globe. Tipping is expected, but a £1 coin does the trick....and dont tip if you dont get good service. Tip if you do.

This hotel is a bit off the beaten track from the main hotels in sharm etc, but it benefits from that in that it is quiet at night and not impacted by noisy hotels nearby.

On the negative - watch out for the golf trolleys that the staff use to ferry about....we found it amusing not annoying tho. Service can be slow and a bit frustrating at times, but that is the way it is in the middle east.....trust me i have been i the Middle East a lot and it's true. Remember how brits feel about Spainish service!!! They charge for almost everything...including the honor bar for water etc, but they do bring fresh bottled water every day to you room. Our room cleaner was lovely and we often came back to the room to towel sculptures etc.

So, in a nutshell a fab hotel with lovely staff (note speaking a little arabic), rememeber your in a 5* star hotel re drinks, but you will have a wonderful holiday as we did. We will go back deffo.

“Loved it!”

Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

The hotel was really clean and our room was always spotless when we returned for the day.

The only thing I would say is that the restaurants within the hotel were really pricey if you're on a budget but we found a lovely little restaurant up the road in a complex called Il Mercato. This was only about a 10 minute walk from the hotel and I'd recommend a visit.

I must admit we were concerned after reading the negative stuff recently but we really don't have a bad word to stay about the staff. I found all of them to be really friendly some times some were more than others but thats to be expected. We did find the concept of tipping them for everything they did for us a little disconcerting to start with but that was down to the cleaner who did our room. He practically had his hand out each time he popped by with water in the evening and always invited himself in but he was harmless enough.

We did however notice the Russian presence there and were dissappointed the hotel had appointed Russian singers to entertain the guests but it didn't ruin our experience. We did laugh at the play girls around the pool with their rich older men but no one bothered us or were particularly rude to us but I did notice they were rude to the staff on more than one occassion.

If you fancy a nice break with guaranteed weather and attentive staff I would recommend it and would definitely go back!

“Absolutely incredible”

The Ritz-Carlton, Sharm El Sheikh

My sister and I spent a week at the Ritz and loved every moment of it. We had a beautiful room with a balcony and an enormous bathroom, the pool was large, clean and gorgeous, and the Red sea was incredible: the coral wall alone makes this the place to stay. Above all, though, the service was absolutely perfect. I'm shocked that there are reviews that say it was inattentive; we had the most pleasant experience with everyone we came into contact with! Everyone spoke English, was nice and approachable, and genuinely seemed to enjoy working for the hotel.

I'd say that 90% of the guests there were British when we were there so I can't comment on the Russian mob, although I will say I found the guest population to be very high-end.

We also loved that it really felt like a resort; we went to Naima Bay for 2 out of 6 nights there but were happy to have decided to stay little further from the downtown. Naima Bay is fun but gets old very quickly.

The food at the restaurants was very good but not excellent. We ate at the Italian restaurant and the Lebanese one, and again, the service was great. The Lebanese restaurant was a lot of fun. One night we went to the Four Seasons - one of the most incredible hotels I've ever seen - and had dinner there. It was expensive but absolutely perfect. I suggest if you don't want to spend $600/night to stay there (the Ritz was about $100) then you at least go for dinner one night. The lunch grill at the Ritz was great too. The breakfast buffet was okay, but they did have an omelet station and that was good enough. It's breakfast, it's free, etc. I don't think that should make or break the place.

I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this hotel to everyone I know and we're already planning on going back soon.

“NOT EVEN 3*!!!!”

The Ritz-Carlton, Sharm El Sheikh

May 4, 2008

I don’t intend adding much to previous reviews but go to this Hotel if you don’t mind the following;

1. Rooms that are of 3* quality
2. A buffet restaurant that serves average quality food in a down at heel room that closely resembles your average low rent café.
3. Rude indifferent restaurant staff (Apart from the grill chef)
4. Mixing with bad mannered Russians (70% of the guests) who have absolutely no concept of how to behave in a foreign country.
5. Watching the Russian mobsters running their call girl business from the hotel lobby bar.
6. Paying 25% extra on all services.
7. Drinking £20 Egyptian plonk because decent wine was £90 a bottle (Rosemount, which is £5 in England)
8. Getting ripped off at the so called international standard alternative restaurants which served us disgusting food that was inedible.
9. Coming back with a stomach virus.

“beautiful beach”

Stayed at the Ritz Sharm on March 08. The service was really good. The room was always clean, although i wouldnt recommend to take a bath! - the water came out yellow, but I guess thats more a problem of the city water. But the room was beautifull and very clean. The service respectful and nice. They were always paying attention to our needs. The breakfast buffet is very good, I especially recommend the omelets. I wouldnt recommend the package with half pension that includes dinner, since there are many nice restaurants at a walking distance if you want to go to il mercato. Or better yet, take a taxi and go to Naama bay, the restaurants there are very good! We ate only once dinner at the lebanese restaurant of the ritz. It was a very nice 5 course meal, including a great belly dance show, for the accomodating price of around 55 dollars per person- not very good for a student budget! but it was definitely worth trying it, the food was delicious.
The only bad thing i would point out is that in the reception they had 2 annoying girls singing what i can just assume was karaoke, they were terrible, they yelled more than singing, it was worse than seeing some of the applicants of american idol, but in a weird way it was funny too.
The beach was really beautiful, the coral reef is huge! the sad part is that some bad tourists were standing on top of it. But the employees of the hotel tried to stop that. Definitely worth it to buy your snorkel or rent it there (for about 15 euros or so, per day) and take a day or two to snorkel at the hotel. But if you go around march, the water will be a bit cold, so be prepared and go around noon.
