I just returned from a one week vacation at the Fanara in Sharm. I have spent a fantastic vacation with perfect food, drinks and
service.
The check in was very efficient and we were welcomed by the guest relation and served a welcome drink.
The staff there is extremely helpful and always smiling. This goes
for the room cleaners as much as for the waiters. The room was always very clean and they made a nice decoration with towels on my bed each day.
The GM is always around and visible and seems to have a good word for all his staff and is often seen discussing with guests.
I can definitely recommend this hotel and will be back soon. Cant
wait!

My family and I stayed for two weeks at the end of September and all in all, we did really enjoy the hotel, staff and facilities.

I have two daughters one of one year and the other of two years, so we therefore wanted to stay in the Residence part of the hotel.

As some have already covered, the hotel operates two sub hotels, with the main complex and then the family residence part.

The family residence area has its own pools, one is suitable for babies, with a restauarant and poolside bar. Essentially the same services are offered at the residence, but there is less choice. If you want something extra, just speak to the staff/management, and they cannot do enough to help you.

The pool are the family residence was almost deserted so we had the run of the place ourselves, whereas the main pool you normally had to "reserve" your area by 8AM. The same can be said of the beach, which is very overcrowded.

The beach itself is man made and is very busy due to its popularity. Other hotels that do not have a beach, are bused into your beach.

The sea is fanatastic and there is an amasing house reef, which unfortunately will die, as people were standing on it at low tide.

You do not need to bring your own snorkling gear. The hotel has a dive centre, and for a small deposit you can rent the equipment for the duration of your stay.

Our room was a large family room and was a little on the tired side, but it was spotlessly cleaned every day, which was no small task, as my two daughters would usually empty the contents of the fridge.

As others have already mentioned, there are a large number of Russians staying at the resort, and as with all people there are good and bad.

We chose to eat most evenings at the Italian restuarant which resides in the Family residence area, and again, this was far less busy and you could enjoy dining outside, it is a beautiful place to eat. There were no cases of bad belly, unlike some hotels.

The staff were excellent and were extremely helpful with our daughters. All in all, a very relaxing and pleasant stay. On the offical hotel website, it does state that it is only a four star hotel, and that is probably about right.

The best:
The beach with beautiful corals and fishes. Definitelly don't forget your snorkeling equipment!
The staff is very nice and always available to fulfill your needs.

The average:
The rooms are clean but are simple. If you are expecting and very well decorated room... forget it! If you don't bother with decoration so the rooms are ok!

The worst:
The food. They can vary the food more. Main buffet is always chicken, beef, fried fish and pasta. The could have more egyptian food... Otherwise desserts are very good!

Overall:
I recommend it, mainly if you like snorkling

My girlfriend and I have been to Sharm on 4 occasions now So I think its fair to say that we have experience enough to comment.

Firstly this is actually 2 hotels in one. The Fanara Residents and the Fanara. Don't get fooled into taking a room in the Residents part, normally smaller apartment rooms. We refused 2 rooms before getting into the main part of the Fanara which was much bigger and better. Of course they tried to charge extra but if you stand firm your get what you booked.

The Good...The snorkeling and diving is just fantastic. we have dived all over Sharm and the Carribean and this is simply breathtaking. All of the staff were very, very friendly. Give the towel boy a dollar a day and he will reserve a great place on the beach for you. Try and keep to the same waiter in the restaurant, give him a couple of dollars on your 1st day and he WILL look after you. The room we wanted we got. Very basic but a good size so no complaint.

The Bad... The food is the worsed we have ever experienced in Egypt. (5 visits) You MUST go as soon as it starts for lunch and dinner and even then its not great. The selection of main courses is very limited and just not of a very good standard. My girlfriend and I had the same things at breakfast lunch and dinner, day in day out. We came back Friday, it is now Monday morning and we are still having
to run to the loo at a moments notice!

If you get a good deal for this hotel you have to go because the snorkeling is that good. The meals out in Naama Bay are very good & cheap between 50 and 100 Egyption and a taxi was just 50 Egyption return.
