“Lovely 4 star hotel”

I have recently retuned from are second trip to Sharm this time we stayed 2 weeks at the Renaissance, the last time 4 years ago we stayed at the Radisson SAS. I travelled with my husband are 2 daughters one 4 years and the other 7 months and both mine and my husbands parents. The hotel is lovely and at first glance every thing looks of very high standard, but once you have had a good look around there are a few cracks that need some sorting out for it to be of 5 star standard, like the pathways which are very worn in places and the bedrooms which are very comfortable but could do with a bit of a make over (leaking shower and furniture a little tired but this did not spoil the holiday and for the money we paid we were not expecting 5 star.

We stayed in 1 family room which was very large with a nice sea view and 2 sea view double rooms of a good size. I preferred the rooms at the RGV to SAS but preferred the location of our room at SAS as we had a marine club room on the beach next to the pool. Are room at RGV was near to top of the hotel and we had quite a walk to the beach, this did make are room very quite which was nice. Are room number was 1510.

The grounds of the hotel are lovely and very large all on different levels with fabulous views out to sea, this does make it quite difficult to push a buggy around as there are steps every were, you can fined ramps at either end of the hotel, we used them a lot going down to the beach but found it quite hard pushing the buggy back up the hill so carried the buggy back up the steps. I did preferred the layout at the SAS as the hotel was all on one level and made it a lot easier to get about with a buggy.

The service at the Renaissance was mostly very good, but not of 5 stars, more 4 and some times 3 stars. Overall it was fine.

We ate in all the restaurants in the hotel, manly in the Mexican and Italian which were very nice, a few times in Zinzina’s and once in the buffet which was quite nice but not worth the £18 each, it was just as cheap to eat in the other restaurants with much nicer food. At the buffet they did not charge for our daughter’s meal which was nice. They really love children in Egypt and make them feel very welcome. We also ordered room service a few times for lunch and dinner and every time the food arrived very quickly. The only thing we did miss this time was a fish restaurant; at SAS they had a beach grill serving fresh fish priced by weight.
At breakfast there was a good choice to choose from, much better than the SAS.

Now to the best part of the holiday, the reef was fantastic from the hotel beach, we saw loads of different fish small and large and even saw dolphins swim past one day while on the beach. The reef off of the jetty is very beautiful but unfortunately will not be around for much longer if the tourists keep standing on it, every day I saw someone or a group of people standing on the coral by the jetty. When the staff were there they did tell them off but no one seemed to listen to them, I feel the hotel should be trying harder to stop people touching the reef as once this has gone so will the tourists.
The reef was much nicer here than at the SAS. We also went on a day trip to Ras Mohammed with the hotel dive shop which was very well organised, but found the snorkelling better from the hotel, also you do not need a visa to visit Ras Mohammed by boat.
We had a fantastic family holiday and can’t wait to return to Sharm again very soon.

“Romantic holiday”

Rewiers: A couple loving hot sun... warm seas... dancing...

We have spent a very beautiful holiday in this hotel... the staff were very carefull with our needs (no problem to arrange a sea view room).
Very good food, fresh and difficult to resist to the different high calories apport of some sweeties. Every day another type of food is prepared: arabic, mediterranean, italian...

What is of outmost importance for us during a holiday is the music and additionally, the entertainement...as we have the dance as hobby for a few years ago. We could not found previously if live music is available or if there are entertainement programmes in this hotel... so we took the risk....And we danced every night with stars overheads... A very talented guitar singer made our stay a wonderful one...he played all types of music...standard, latino, disco ....Many thanks for his performance!!!

The entertainement programme is good, but some improvements has to be made in order to attract more the attention of the hotel guests. It is an occasion to see the exotic habits, the special local dances, the bright colour of national costumes. Maybe to have every night programme at a convenient hour (later in the night after the dinning hours).

The trip to Cairo was worthwhile...we found a lot of mysteries of the ancient Egypt, we saw the only Wonder still in place, the pyramides, the Sphinx... Papirus fabric...then the archeological museum, the lunch on the Nile...We have a lot of gratitude for our very special guide, Dr.ISLAM from TEZ TOUR, who did excelent job and solve all the problems of the group so that everybody have beautiful memories from Egypt...

Interesting evening at Alf Leila, a construction in arabic style, nearby the hotel (10 minutes walking) where we saw a specific, traditional spectacle.

As a conclusion: the greatest wonder of this part of the world, the hotel, the special views inspired my husband to write new extraordinary poems!!!

“Wonderful stay”

We have recently returned from a 2 week stay at this hotel (second visit). What can I say - a fabulous way to celebrate my 50th birthday. The hotel staff are it;s biggest asset - nothing is too much trouble and you can be guaranteed a smile morning till night.

We last went in September 2006 so I wasn't sure what to expect as far as weather - it was wonderful between 34-40 degrees every day. Despite some of the comments about the rooms requiring updating, ours was freshly painted and we experienced no problems with a wonderful sea view.

We had meals at lunchtime at the aqua bar and the quality was excellent, as was the Zinzini bar. We also ate in the Italian and again this was of a high standard. Outside of the hotel there are a couple of restaurants to mention, the Columbus restaurant (just at the end of Fantasia) and the Sugar Hut - good food & service at reasonable prices and the drinks are much cheaper than the hotel.

There is a supermarket and off-licence about a 10 min walk from the hotel and it is worth stocking up on water, soft drinks & beers.

My Husband is a scuba diver and found the dive centre attached to the hotel to be very organised and professional - he saw lots of the usual fish and turtles but his holiday was made when he saw a 10ft manta ray!

All in all, a fantastic 2 week stay and we will definitely be returning.

“An oasis of luxury”

We stayed for 3 nights here after a whirlwind and tiring nile cruise and whistlestop visit of Cairo.

As soon as we arrived we were treated like royalty and whisked off to our room by high speed buggy!!

The room was beautiful with 2 queen size beds and a fantastic view of the sea and the hotel grounds. We had an initial problem with a leaking sink and dodgy tv aerial, both of which were sorted immediately.

There are restaurants onsite but we only ate for breakfast at the main restaurant and lunch at the beach bar. All great.

There was no problem obtaining a sunbed each day and the pool attendant saved our loungers and umbrella each day for us, without us even asking.

Naama Bay is only a short taxi drive away but this hotel is far enough to not feel you are in the middle of a busy resort.

Even though we only stayed for 3 nights the personal service we received was fantastic and small touches like the bar staff remembering your drink choice added to the experience.

If I was to criticize it would be the fact that there is no beach as such - the sea is accessed via a jetty.

The quality of the this hotel was further highlighted as we were delayed for 27hours going home and were 'put up' in Hilton Dreams. This was supposedly a 5 star hotel - absolutely no patch on Rennaissance.

All in all a fantastic hotel well worthy of its 5 stars and I would have no hesitation visiting again - but this time for longer!
