My partner and I have just returned back from a week stay at The Three Corners, Ocean View in El Gouna.
When we first arrived we were a bit confussed as the hotel is in 2 parts, the Soliel building which is the main building and the Du Port Building which is where we stayed in room 3374.
The room was fine, with a large comfy bed with a large bathroom and shower.
We had our own safe and fridge with complimentary bottled water in it.
The main building has a spacious reception area with a free bar and guest relations desk (which we didnt use as Thomas Cook's excursion prices were cheaper) and a number of passasge ways which lead you to different areas of the hotel. At the back, the door lead you to the terrace where all you see is water. Being surrounded by the marina, you saw alot of speed boats and jet skis. As you walk down you come to the main restaurant where you have your 3 meals of the day. Everybody is friendly and the choice of food throughout the day is fantastic. You are also able to dine around the other 2 restaurants in the other building where you receive a discount off of your bill. If you choose to sit outside to eat, you have a great view of the open ocean.
There are 2 main pools. The pool in the main building is the loud pool. The animation team hold water areobics and water polo in their everyday, however if you dont fancy walking to the other pool there is a private man made beach just behind where you can sunbath in peace. There is also a pontoon into the ocean where you can swim and feed the numerous fish around you.
The second pool however is so relaxing. You have a choice of 3 types of sunbeds, the original 1 person ones, the matresses on the floor for 2 people right next to the pool and finally the big 4 poster beds (which i reccomend!) Both pools have a bar area open from 10am where you can get your all inclusive drinks from. The Du Port pool also has a lunch area where you can pay a small supplement to have lunch there if you cant be bothered t walk over to the other building. In the evenings, The Du Port pool turns into a night club.
In the Du Port building is where you will find the spa and theatre which is where the animation try their best to entertain you. I dont reccomend the shows, however their bingo and quiz nights are quite fun!
The local area is beautiful. Hurghada is about a 40 minute coach ride but I wouldnt reccomend sight seeing there. The locals are rude and pushy, where as El Gouna is a different story. El Gouna is owned by 1 man who does not tolerance any trouble from the locals. We walked around the marina everynight which is about an hour there and back and the most hassle you would get would be from a bloke shouting Tuk Tuk at you as he passes you by in a Tuk Tuk. The Marina is full of beautiful boats, bars and restaurant. There is an English Pub but it is more like cubby hole in a dark alley, but all the same, the owner is very friendly. The restaurants are also nice and good for your money.
We flew with Thomas Cook and had the chance to do many excursions (unlike First Choice) we choose to do 2, a boat trip into the Red Sea for a day snorkling and swimming with the dolphins on the Galatae which is literally tied up on the door step of the hotel and a day trip to Mahmya Gifun Island which is an uninhibated island in the middle of the red sea where you can relax, go snorking or go knee deep into the water and see foot long parrot, angel and all other types of fish without having to do snorkling. Both trips were around £40 each which were well worth the money!!! The trips include lunch but you have to pay for drinks, cans are around 50LE each which is about 50p.
Overall this week was not long enough, we decided not to do the trips to Cairo or Luxor as many people came back saying it was too hot at 57 degrees and they had to stay on the coach that took 7 hours! Also the locals around these areas are conmen rude and unpleasent. We wouldnt reccomend this.
El Gouna is called the premiure destination of Egypt and it is. This would not be an ideal place to take children as there is nothing for them to do, but great for couples, honeymooners and friends just looking for a quiet relaxing holiday, which is better than going to the carribean and half the price!

ok here we go the hotel is not on the beach you have to get a bus not to much trouble, but not good as you have to go through alot of building sites to get there it takes about 7 minutes, if you like me are going for the snorkling forget it as you have to walk about half a mile through knee deep water to get to the deeper water to snorkel and then its not very good mostly the same fish beware they bite!. back to the hotel its small and ok the marina is fab but how much time can you spend looking a boats, the entertainment is very poor but the waitersare very entertaing and make the entertainment crew look bad,the food is mediocre to say the least ok if you like pasta every day and spagetti on the beach or burgers we were only in this hotel for 5 days and it was quite long enough.we did a super trip in a semi subemersible to see the coral and it was five star the best trip ever. we moved to this resort from imperial shams hotel in soma bay i would like to say that this is a wonderful resort and when it is brouchered this year by thomas cook it will be a faboulus place to stay we thougt the resort was great only reason for moving was we were the only english speaking people there all germans and slovaks not very happy people who didnt like us being there also the entertainmaen crew were kids who were not very entertaining. the food rooms and staff were the nicest we have found in egypt and would make a faboulous honeymoon hotel so thank you sarah from thomas cook you were great ..you helped us with great sympathy and did a great job.ps if you like horse riding go with memo from the beach hes great we had a wonderful ride in the desert

Wanted to try somewhere different this year, and settled on TTC Ocean View as read some good reviews - they weren't wrong. Not normally people for all inclusive, but given the reasonable price, we thought we'd give it a go. On the whole, was very pleasantly surprised with the food, always lots of choice and piping hot, whether you went to eat early or late. Good egg man in the morning and the salads were fab too.

Room was in the Duport building which was lovely and quiet, a must as far as we're concerned. Hussain, our chambermaid, was great, the room was always spotless although I think he had a shoe fetish - our flip flops and shoes were lined up every day!!

Peanuts bar always had something on every night from the football to karaoke, if you don't believe the other reviews about the shells on the floor - it's true!! Crunchy dancing.

The Marina is to die for, the boats are superb. Fantastic view from the Duport pool, and that in itself was brilliant with the four poster sunbeds.

We ate out a couple of times over the week we were there, one I can recommend is The Oriental Grill in Downtown El Gouna - was described to us as being as close to traditional Egyptian food as you would find in El Gouna. Meal for two with wine came to just over £30.

Weather was scorchio - pushing 40 degrees every day, so be prepared! Saw lots of pink people who must have thought they knew better than to use high factor sunscreen. You have been warned!!

Lovely place to go would definitely go back but as my husband struggled with the heat a bit, would try March or October, as recommended to us by a couple of the British ex-pats we spoke to.

Have a great holiday!

“enjoyment in el gouna”

We arrived late at night and our first impression is of a very clean and new looking hotel...a very bright reception area and very helpful staff...The rooms were spacious and have TV,s,plenty of storage and a fridge but NO tea/coffe making facillities which we thought for a supposedly 4 star hotel was a bit poor as we like to wake up and have a cuppa or 2. The bathrooms are ok but are looking abit tired now The food in our opinion was at best average but eatable and with alot of variety,as with other reviews on here we agree that the theme nights were indiffferent (if you didn't look on the board telling you what the theme night it was, you'd never guess, but it didn't bother us) We went AI and we found the alcoholic drinks very weak(some said they water them down...but who knows??) We stayed in the ocean view bit and found the pool area and "beach" a nice clean area but you do get the animation team coming round trying to get you involved in the activities, but they aren't pushy. There was a nice pleasant breeze especially on the "beach" area but it was hot around the pools. The actual beach is reached by a free bus service and this is very clean and tidy. The sea is very shallow for a long way but poor for snorkelling as the water isn't that clear due to the constant breeze stirring up the sea(but you can still sea a variety of fish). We only had one meal out and ate at the captains bar and found it very poor, the steaks were overcooked and the veg was hard and lukewarm, but it has a lovely position in the marina. There is a duty free shop in el gouna but you can only purchase alcohol within 48 hours of getting there. The whole of el gouna is very clean but there is alot of building work going on but to there credit you don't really notice it.Also there is alot of security at each hotel, but the egyptians we found were very helpful and friendly We went on the day trip to Luxor, this is a very long and tiring day but worth it for the memories of seeing ancient egypt. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would go back and would recommend it,

“good for hassle free egypt experience”

Three Corners Ocean View Hotel

have just come back from two weeks AI at 3 corners and have to say I have a mixed opinion of the holiday. It was my first time going all inclusive normally preferring self catering and my opinion hasn't much changed although it is nice not having to carry money around if you aren't leaving the hotel. El Gouna itself is lovely, especially the marina which is where the hotel is and you have to experience a ride in a tuc-tuc which is only 50p per person anywhere in El Gouna. Some of the boats were fantastic and there are plenty of watersports to do if you like that kind of thing. The hotel itself was very nice with all the staff friendly and the rooms were nice and cool most of the time. The only fault we had with the rooms was that the beds were quite hard and the same with the pillows which meant didn't always get a decent nights sleep. We had looked at a couple of reviews before we went which warned that some of the rooms were above the hotel bar and therefore noisey but we only experienced a small level of noise as we were at the rear of the hotel near the terrace and so depending on what time we went to bed we could hear the entertainer down on the terrace. We only went into Peanuts bar a couple of times but it was a nice bar that played a good variety of music and was quite modernly decorated. The entertainment in the hotel was interesting to say the least and I for one would have rather they just played CD's as background music as opposed to the one man performance who one night we mistook for someone badly doing karioke!!! The food was the one area were we felt the hotel was let down and in my mind made it more of a 3* than 4* hotel. The breakfast and lunch was fine although you soon learnt not to expect anything different as it was the same most days with just the hot dishes that changed on a lunchtime. The evening meals were a different matter and I was extremely disappointed with both the choice and standard of food. Each night is themed although some of the dishes had nothing to do with the nightly theme ie a pasta dish on the oriental night!!! There was some sort of potato, rice and vegetable dish each night, normally dry and over cooked and by the end of the first week we had discovered that the food on an evening was not giving us upset stomachs so for the last week we only ate at the hotel during the day. We highly recommend you sample the various other hotels and restaurants in the town, we went to the Captains Inn Steak House which is on the Marina and do a gorgeous mixed grill and also to the Greek restaurant in downtown which I would recommend. The best night we had was undoubtedly when we went to the Sheraton Miramar and sampled the restaurant which has shows on a Thursday and Sunday and we would highly recommend it. The food was divine, the service outstanding and the show was the best taste of Egypt we got in the entire resort. One to miss would be the Movenpick as not only was the restaurant a trek to get to but the food was nothing more than average and served in the same room as the buffet for hotel guests!!! Supposedly there are bars in El Gouna but we couldn't find them and therefore the night times were rather quiet. The animation team around the pool at the hotel are extremly annoying and if you want a quiet laze then I would go to the pool at the Du Port building or the hotels beach. The only good thing about them was you could tell what time it was by which activity they were shouting about!!! We did a couple of trips booked through Thomas Cook although I wouldn't recommend them. We did the one day Luxor and it was just far too long a day-I had read reviews saying it was a long day but nothing prepared me for it-basically you leave the hotel at 4.15am but don't get to Luxor until around 11.00am. They don't warn you how hot it is as is 10c hotter in Luxor and then you have another long journey back to the resort. All in all it was a 20 hour day. We were told to get a breakfast box from the hotel which was consisted of bruised fruit, a couple of dry sandwiches and a pastry. The buffet lunch was lovely although you only stop for 45 minutes. We were told we would be back in time for the late buffet that the hotel put on which we were disappointed to discover consisted of nothing more than soup and some tiny sandwiches. As for the star gazing although it is amazing to see the likes of the moon and saturn up close the journey across the desert is horrendous!!! I don't recommend you go into Hurghada unless you take a rep or an egyptian tour guide as you will get harrassed constantly and this was something that for me spoilt the time there and I doubt I would go back to Egypt for that reason unless I was in a purpose built resort like El Gouna. Our rep also informed us that the local supermarkets didn't sell international cigarettes and you either had to go to the duty free shop within 48hours of arriving or wait until the airport on the way home-this is not the case!!!! There is a supermarket in downtown that does in fact sell cigarettes-cheaper than at the airport-I paid 80 egyptian pounds for 200 Marlboroughs which is the equivalent of £8!!!
