“glad to be home”

Three Corners Rihana Resort

Have just got back from what we expected to be great family holiday. its mosquito and fly ridden and an open air sewer when the plants get watered with dirty water the smell is worse because of the heat. The food is repetitive with the same food every night basically. Me and my husband got a stomach upset on the thrid day which we have still got now 2days after we got home. We noticed there was more people queing at the nurses station that at the bars. And other guests told us they were the same. The night of the bbq we noticed that the cooks were handling raw and cooked foods without washing their hands. We had planned to go to Luxor over night stay but couldnt because of our stomach upset. We travelled with First Choice and we have done lots of times before and its been great but this was the worst.

“great hospital and pharmacy!!!!”

On arrival my husband and myself were given the honeymoon suite which was nice but it meant the two children we had come with had to sleep with my Father-in-law !!! The rooms were the same apart from we had a double bed and the other had three single beds.

The rooms were clean and the chamber man, Abdul, was super and very helpful, especially as we spent most of our holiday at either the hospital, the pharmacy or in our room!!

We ALL came down with sickness and diahorria, first my youngest son who is 11. We took him to the hospital as he was quite poorly. Then the next day myself and my husband were ill. The rep advised us it was because we were British and we were not used to the heat so the bugs in our stomach would make us ill. Suprisingly my husband who had just returned from a two month tour of Afghanistan where it is hotter, but they did not buy the explanation.

Then my 14 year old was ill and my 11 year old became very ill again. We returned to the hospital!! The children refused to eat anything in the hotel after this.
We were advised by the hospital paediatricain that it was food poisoning as we had all presented with the sam symptoms.

We waited then with baited breath then for my 74 year old Father-in-law to be ill and guess what he did not dissapoint and on the final day of our wonderful weeks holiday he was poorly, again another visit to the hospital.

We spoke to many guests from many different countries and many people were ill, The rep advised us the food suplier had been changed and the samples were being taken and we are waiting to hear from the travel company about the reason for the problem.
The area is beautiful and we would go back to El Gouna but to one of the other hotels!!

“El Gouna Three Corners Rihana”

Three Corners Rihana Resort

Jul 13, 2008

We stayed at the Rihana from 27th June - 11th July 2008 at first sight we were disappointed with the hotel itself although the gardens and pools were very clean the rooms were basic. All of our party of seven people were ill with various stomach upsets whilst we were there. I do not think it was the food but this did not help as it was not that good and the hygeine standards at the hotel buffet left a lot to be desired.

Throughout the holiday the gardens were being watered with what appeared to be dirty water and if you got too close the smell was unbearable.

The staff in reception and the cleaners were very helpful and friendly as were the staff who helped around the pool areas.

During our final week the hotel was very busy but one of the restaurants was shut for refurbishment - something we were not told about - and therefore there were queues for the only buffet restaurant this did not really bother us as we ate out every night as the food was not that good but this meant having to pay for meals even though we should have been all inclusive.

“Cheko and Therese are fantastic Animators!!”

Three Corners Rihana Resort

Kidderminster, Worcs.
Jul 12, 2008

We stayed at the Rihanna Inn from June 23rd to July 4th, 2008 to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. We had a fantastic holiday and thought the hotel was great. All the staff were exceptionally friendly, rooms although basic, were good. The grounds were kept immaculate and loved seeing the ginger cat with her kittens playing in the garden. I can't knock this hotel for anything except perhaps the repetitive food. But quite honestly we didn't find this a problem as we ate out most nights. We took advantage of the 'dine around', which in place of your 'all inclusive' meal allows you to access many restaurants in surrounding hotels and restaurants giving you 40 egyptian pounds towards the bill of each member of your party. But to be quite honest it didn't make a huge difference as the food was inexpensive anyway. But I have to say that each restaurant we went to the food was wonderful, and well worth paying the extra. Most meals came to anywhere between £15 and £40 for six people. The hotel's goumet french and italian restaurants were fantastic and ate there many times, but it was nice to get out too. Would recommend the thia restaurant in downtown and the indian restaurant at the marina. I would have to say don't go to the 'Friday festival of light' at the marina. It cost about £26 (40 euro's) per person, food was frankly boring, and entertainment bland. We ended up leaving and going to the Saigon restaurant instead. This restaurant is vietnamese and food brilliant. Tok tok's not to be missed. Make sure you book your free boat ride, as we missed out on this when leaving it too late to book.

Finally I have to say a huge thankyou to CHEKO AND THERESE, the animators. They were absolutely fantastic. I can't tell you how much they made our holiday. They were great fun, very friendly, made a huge effort to get us involved in all the activities, always sought us out and got us into the party mood. They made my husband's 50th birthday a fantastic day, and gave us a going away present too. I shall miss them so much as they were great company. Illyss and Stephenie (the other animators) were not a patch on these two, and although I asked them to make a special mention on my husband's birthday at the Peanuts Bar they seemed more interested poncing around. Anyone going there please make an effort to find Cheko and Therese, they will certainly make your holiday. We had such a laugh with them.

Also special mention to Abass (the pool man) and Elsayed (barman), both lovely people and very helpful.

Can't fault this hotel, and El Gouna itself is lovely. First time to Egypt and will definitely be back.

“Nice hotel but let down by food.”

Three Corners Rihana Resort

2 of 5 stars

Stayed here for a week with our 6 year old grandson. Might have recommended if it were not for the food, which is poor. Restaurant very basic & choice was VERY limited especially the meat e.g .one lunch time "meat" choice was veal mince or small pieces of grilled fish handed to you (not help yourself); when it was carved turkey everyone got 2 tiny pieces. Salads were minimal. Vegetables plentiful & well cooked. We struggled most meals; our grandson ate spag.bol.from the childrens corner & hot dog/burger which were alternate lunchtimes. We have travelled extensively & this was the worst food we have had.
The hotel itself is nicely laid out; we used the pool with the water slides as most children were there; the main pool seemed to have loud music most times we passed. Would not have let our grandson attend hotel run kids club as 8 to 10 children (aged 4 up) were brought to the pool with one "carer". Evening entertainment - hotel staff doing small shows on stage followed by 2 singers in Peanuts Bar which is far too small.
Few minutes walk to downtown restaurants & supermarket & would recommend tuc-tuc to Marina; nice, reasonably priced restaurants.
Flew to Cairo for the day which was excellent; long day 4.15 am to 10 pm but worth doing; time there well planned.
El Gouna is a nice resort but would say find another hotel especially if going for 2 weeks as food could spoil it or you would need to eat out at night.
