Hilton Dahab is a good hotel to use as a base for exploring Dahab and the vacinity. The Hotel is clean, with a nice private beach/lagoon and a decent sized pool. Do not be fooled by the brochure pictures of massive sweeping pools - only one serves as a swimming pool - the rest are for appearances!
The bedrooms are clean, comfy and well appointed. The bathrooms are a bit rougher, and the shower's/bath's certainly need replacing and upgrading. This shouldn't put you off too much unless you get easily offended by a few chipped tiles and a rough bath!
Breakfasts are great, Dinner less so. We ate once at the main restaurant for a terribly over priced and poor quality meal. Neptunes restaurant near the beach is much better and actually worked out cheaper. The beach bar serves decent enough lunch snacks.
The team at the on-site Sinai Divers are great. Extremely proffessional and proficient and I can only recommend them to anyone interested in Diving whilst in Dahab.
Their are always plenty of cabs outside the complex so I would recommend going into Dahab most nights for the interesting Seafood restaurants on the promenade. We found we could get away with 10LE each way for the cabs - about £1.10.
Dahab is nowhere near as commercialised or developed as Sharm, and typical "town infrastructure" is very raw - be aware of that before you come here if you want a shiny new resort. If you are easy going travellers, wanting a change of pace from a commercial resort like Sharm, Dahab is fantastic. It is only a 1hr 30 transfer from Sharm so you can easily combine the 2 towns in a week's holiday as we did.
