“Hilton Dahab”

Hilton Dahab

Hilton Dahab is a good hotel to use as a base for exploring Dahab and the vacinity. The Hotel is clean, with a nice private beach/lagoon and a decent sized pool. Do not be fooled by the brochure pictures of massive sweeping pools - only one serves as a swimming pool - the rest are for appearances!

The bedrooms are clean, comfy and well appointed. The bathrooms are a bit rougher, and the shower's/bath's certainly need replacing and upgrading. This shouldn't put you off too much unless you get easily offended by a few chipped tiles and a rough bath!

Breakfasts are great, Dinner less so. We ate once at the main restaurant for a terribly over priced and poor quality meal. Neptunes restaurant near the beach is much better and actually worked out cheaper. The beach bar serves decent enough lunch snacks.

The team at the on-site Sinai Divers are great. Extremely proffessional and proficient and I can only recommend them to anyone interested in Diving whilst in Dahab.

Their are always plenty of cabs outside the complex so I would recommend going into Dahab most nights for the interesting Seafood restaurants on the promenade. We found we could get away with 10LE each way for the cabs - about £1.10.

Dahab is nowhere near as commercialised or developed as Sharm, and typical "town infrastructure" is very raw - be aware of that before you come here if you want a shiny new resort. If you are easy going travellers, wanting a change of pace from a commercial resort like Sharm, Dahab is fantastic. It is only a 1hr 30 transfer from Sharm so you can easily combine the 2 towns in a week's holiday as we did.

“Great trip!”

Hilton Dahab

This was our second Mark Warner Holiday. The Hilton was great. The staff were very friendly and helpful - even came to our room to check everything was ok and weren't called. We both got bad stomachs on the trip but have sensitive stomaches anyway and it happened at the last resort too.

The mosquitoes are bad in Egypt so take a lot of insect repellant (this goes for all resorts in the area - most people on the flight back were itching). Apart from that the gardens at the resort are beautiful and would be nice if there was a bench that you could sit in the gardens which are built around the lagoons. We went on a glass bottom boat which was quite fun (1.5 hour trip for 70 Egyptian Pounds was not bad at all).

Had two amazing massages and a pedicure at the Health Center and felt completely relaxed. Far better than any others I have had in London so highly recommend those.

We had lunch on one day at Neptunes Bar and ordered lamb chops with were grilled and were the nicest lamp chops I have eaten in a very long time! Highly recommended.

“Relaxing stay at Dahab Hilton with Mark Warner”

Hilton Dahab

Apr 29, 2008

Having read the mixed reports on this site, I was somewhat apprehensive about our holiday at the Dahab Hilton. I needn't have worried. The hotel is lovely, beautifully landscaped and maintained, just like the pictures. The hotel was full while we were there but you'd never think it as it's v tranquil and you can always get a sunbed. Egyptian staff are charming and polite.

The rooms are spacious and spotless. We had a suite with a huge sofabed in the lounge. The balcony had a great view of one of the ornamental lagoons and a hammock. OK, the bath is a bit pokey and the shower a little wimpy, but it was spotless and well stocked with Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries.

Half board includes breakfast (excellent, particularly the short order chefs for eggs, pancakes and waffles) and dinner (international buffet) at the Mirage. A bit canteenesque and lacking ambience. We had breakfast every day but only ate there 3 times at night. There were 2 Egyptian nights with dancers while we were there for which the food and tables were set up al fresco. We also upgraded to t he Neptune seafood restaurant 3 nights, and a couple of nights just had bar snacks in the coconut bar which had a nice vibe. Daytime lunch at the beach bar included burgers, fish and chips, panini and pizzas - mostly very good and reasonable. Cocktails are cheap (£3) but weak. LOcal beer is similarly priced, as is local wine bubt we were warned off. I didi try S African Chinon at c£4.50/glass and it was fine, but we drank mostly beer.

Mark Warner. Kids club was excellent as usual. This hotel is not exclusive to MW, so the atmosphere is less clubby and probably less social than you'd expect. It's mainly for windsurfers with limited sailing kit and no sailing off the beach which was frustrating and time consuming. Winds were variable while we were there with 4 days becalmed and 2 days too hot to handle. No sailing on Sunday or MOnday. Apparently it's a great place to go to learn to kitesurf, although MW didn't have an instructor while we were there.

One negative was that the hotel's final bill did not tally with the supporting receipts. We queried this and pointed out one minibar bill which was for another room, but they did not correct this or justify the apparent overcharge and were very intransigent which was disappointing. It was finally resolved when we got MW ops manager involved, but it left a bit of a sour taste.

“Excellent!”

Hilton Dahab

Myself and partner recently stayed at the Hilton Dahab for 2 weeks, and what a great experience. This was our second time in Dahab, and after the mediocre experience from the first time, we thought we would travel a bit more up market, and we were not disappointed. Everyone from the Hotel were super friendly, the place was clean, uncrowded & relaxing. The rooms were clean, spacious & had great views overlooking the lagoon. Primarily we came for the diving, and chose to dive with the on site dive center Sinai Divers. I can highly recommend this organization, they are nothing but professional. They are a bit more pricey, but once you dive with them you will know why & choosing a diving center is not something I would wish to save money on as I have heard some of the cheaper centers are a bit dodgy. I am a bit more experienced than my partner but the crew there always managed to oragnise something that would suit us both, plus they are the only center in Dahab who has their own boat, so you have the choice of diving the uncrowded reefs south of Dahab almost anytime you like! The food was ok, manly we went out at night for dinner, there are some great restaurants in town. Overall a great trip and plan to travel there again.

“Beautiful Breeze”

Hilton Dahab

Been there twice and now looking for something else only because think the Hilton a bit tired and food definitely "iffy"! Both of us had Egyptian tummies for a couple of days and that's quite a lot when you're only staying a week. No entertainment at all and no-one is ever in the bar. Room perfectly adequate and has good tea-making facilities which is a definite plus after a hard day at the beach!! A beautiful beach that is very safe and clean.
We found a couple of restaurants on the other side of the bay past the lighthouse past eel gardens that were clean and served lovely food. All in all a lovely holiday where you can more or less be assured of the weather. I would not hesitate to recommend it.
