Just returned from the magical Santa Clara in the enchanting city of Cartagena. I agree with most reviewer's impressive comments regarding the architectural historic beauty of the building and the outstanding services of the staff. The rooms are all of a high standard (saw 4) and the pool is as good as any world-class 5 star hotel. The hotel has a small mini branch with lovely beach bungalows on the nearby island of Rosario (45 mins by high speed launch) and I strongly suggest a one night stay which can be billed back to the Santa Clara. It breaks the week (if you have time) and gives travellers the sense of their own Caribbean island retreat. The city is a wonderful oasis of small multi-coloured boutiques, cafe's and restaurants. This was our first trip to Colombia and after a stopover for three days in a plastic (but fab) Miami, it was refreshing to have all the warnings disproved regarding Colombia, crime and potential dangers. I have travelled extensively and found the people of Cartagena, delightful, helpful and very respectful to visitors.

It is all in one, good service, people are the best of the best, the building, a colonial arquitecture keeps as in the past, but with the confort of the present, right in down town ,very close from the best restaurants. Our best holyday ever.

I have been there a few time and I loved every time. The people who work there are always willing to help and make the experience the best.
I really love that hotel and I'll love to be back.

It's 10 years since I first stayed at the Santa Clara; 20 or so stays in the first 3 and once or twice a year since then; its a bit more distant from Aberdeen now. Heading back in the summer. I am surprised to see it rates only 3rd (at time of writing). I have stayed in the current number 1 and there is no comparison. The Santa Clara is superior in every way, rooms, pool, dining, spa, ambiance & service. The people may have changed over these past 10 years but the standards never drop. Easily the top hotel in a fabulous city, well worth the visit. Met my wife there, got married there, spent many a night with friends and family in the squares, bars and restaurants. Its great to see a new buzz and vitality in the City, the cruise ships are back and as will I.
