We stayed here for one night as part of an organised tour of China.
Make sure you get a room overlooking the mighty Yangtse River - this is where Chairman Mao came for his famous swims. Early morning you can see the locals doing their tai chi and other exercises on the excellent riverbank area, which was being renovated when we were there : you can walk a really long way to the right through lovely gardens past the two miles long rail and road bridge (slight background rumbles from the trains) and past statuary etc and watch the constant river traffic.
Enormous well furnished clean rooms, super chinese, japanese and english buffet dinner still in operation even when we had arrived very late due to plane delays. Buffet breakfast of all types was excellent as well.
Difficult to tell how convenient for the sights as we were only there one night, and Wuhan is in fact three cities in one - population millions and millions! Impressed by this more relaxed city after suffering the chaos of Shanghai, and loved the trees and flowers everywhere - the rock/bonsai museum may not sound much, but it was one of the highlights of the tour.
