I stayed here for 4 nights during a trip around China and thought the hotel was outstanding. I had read some really bad reviews, but the Chinese company I booked through assured me that it had been refurbished and it certainly had. I don't know what people had to complain about with regards to this hotel - it was clean, the staff were exceedingly friendly, especially compared to other staff in hotels around China! They had some of the best English speaking staff I encountered, and they were so keen to learn more English. The rooms were out of this world. I stayed at a range of hotels throughout China, and I can safely say this was one of the best. To be fair, I think I was in one of the larger rooms, but the finish and detail of the room was definetly 5 star. There was a range of food to choose from, and the other facilities, i.e. internet were very well run. The drinks in the room minibar and phone calls from the room phone back to the UK were also very very cheap! The grounds this hotel were in are beautiful - lying at the poolside with the mountains as a backdrop to the hotel is amazing - the walk to the beach is lovely and the beach is just as beautiful. There aren't too many shops in the vicinity of the hotel, I took a trip to downtown Sanya, where there are your standard supermarkets - this was worth it. If I were to return to Sanya, I would definetly stay here again, I did not have one problem with it - just make sure you have enough change for the taxi driver to the airport, as they will not give you any, and I got ripped off numerous times!!

The room we stayed in was the cheapest kind. They told us the room would be "mountainview". To an extent it was, but we were on the 3rd floor so not much of a view. The room in itself is really basic. White walls, white sheets. If you're looking for gorgeous accomodations, this is definitely not for you. Bare bones, but CLEAN. That was what mattered most for us, since we weren't planning on staying much in the room except to sleep. The only problem was that the washroom had a faint smell of sewage. But with the door closed it doesn't affect the rest of the room.

The best thing this hotel has got going for it is LOCATION. It's literally a 7 minute (trust me, I timed it) walk the beach. A beautiful stretch of pretty deserted sand and water. It's far enough away from the main area of the beach (where they sell food, souvenirs, and watersports) where its more crowded and noisy, but close enough to run over there for some yummy snacks. Our stretch of the beach is only shared by a few other hotels, but still, not many people, peaceful and quiet. Also, right across from the holiday is the Butterfly Museum (the hotel provides free admission tickets). Plus they have a free shuttle bus service that takes you to the square as well as into town. And if you still feel like a dip after a day on the beach, the hotel pool is nice for a night swim. It's huge, but a bit too shallow for my taste (at least you won't drown).

Overall, I don't think I'd go back if I had to pay the regular price (around $70-80US). We got a special deal on a package (flight + hotel + breakfast). Bottom line: great location!

Absolutely worst possible stay in Sanya! Cheap, cheap, cheap hotel. Lousy food, atrocious service, dorm style rooms going at far too high of price! Pool has no cholrine, which with a few 100 visitors, results in a health hazard for any swimmer. Only "public beach" access -- makes for a zoo like experience! Better to not try!! Better off staying at ANY of the other hotels along the beach. Wouldn't even recommend it to back-packers! You'll get more for your money elsewhere!
