“really nice room, nice grounds, good dinner”

La Maison d'Angkor

4 of 5 stars
Bay Area, CA
Apr 23, 2008

La Maison was not cheap for Cambodia (~$80/night) but our room was really nice, with a large bed, a nicely decorated bathroom, and good a/c. We ate dinner once at the hotel and it was surprisingly good, although again not cheap. The grounds are very pretty, and the pool is nice. We had a gecko which liked to run in and out of our room, but that's probably unavoidable in the tropics. The receptionists spoke good English and helped us arrange our tours and transportation; although I'm not sure if they got the best prices, we were pretty satisfied. There was free internet in the lobby, which was useful. The souvenirs in the lobby were really overpriced. Overall we had quite a pleasant stay.

We also had one lunch and 2 dinners face to the swimming pool, the curry and the amok was particularly excellent !
The garden is magnificient and it always offer us private corner to lazy daze. We will never forget this quiet little charming hotel.

We were delighted with our stay at La Maison d'Angkor, even though it had not been our first choice. The rooms are even nicer than depicted on the website, and the well-treed garden-with-pool setting was fantastic and specially welcome after a long day's touring. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful Though La Maison d'Angkor is not in town, there was acomplimentary shuttle service, which we took advantage of most nights. This was one of our favourite places to stay in a five-week trip to SE Asia.

We were booked in another hotel which we really didnt like, and ended up just walking into La Maison asking for a room. The lovely french manager was very kind to offer us an upgrade, a junior suite, very spacious with a beauitful bathroom. The hotel is very clean, with a stunning balinese garden, a huge pool, excellent service, very good masseurs, good food. its really one of the best deals i have had anywhere in asia.
would recommend any time!

“Wedding blues”

La Maison d'Angkor

A splendid hotel with well appointed rooms, lovely swimming pool and garden, my only criticism being that the chairs on the roomy balcony were very small and somewhat uncomfortable. But our visit was unfortunately timed to coincide with a Cambodian wedding - a 3 day affair as I found out when I visited reception to ask if they had any idea when the amplified music would stop. Our room was right beside the ceremony and it was VERY loud. It stopped for a few hours at night and resumed very early. I realise that there is little the hotel can do about this but I did notice that most Cambodian wedding parlours were situated in the countryside miles from anywhere. The manager was apologetic and gave us a reduction on our bill but it was a far from pleasant experience.
