I rated this hotel 4 stars ('above-average' ) for it's overall value, not for it's ammenities or luxury. What you're getting here is a pleasant, clean room at a reasonable rate.
My two negative comments:
-I like the SE Asian approach to A/C -- ie. it only comes on when the room key is inserted into the thermostat -- however, I thought the A/C unit in my room at the Bopha Angkor to be very weak for the size of the room & it took quite a while to cool the room (over an hour).
-the hotel backs onto a residential area & I was woken at 6 am each morning by barking dogs (my room was behind the restaurant)
But these are not big criticisms. The rooms were clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the grounds are beautiful. The breakfast was really good, served in a lovely al fresco restaurant. Overall, we enjoyed this hotel and would recommend it to others.
