“Good Budget Inn”

Mandalay Inn

This is a very late review, but seems to be consistent with most of the current reviews. We stayed here in 2005 and found the Mandalay Inn to be a good budget inn which was very good value for money. Most things in Siem Reap are a short walk and the family who run the inn are very helpful. We ended up hiring the hotel car with driver for the three days we were there and were taken to the temples we wanted to see. The place is not overly fancy but is a pleasant enough place to rest your head. Biggest negative was that the washrooms are very small .

This is definately not an up market establishment but it also doesnt have an up market price. It is a small, family run inn. If you want a clean, convenient place to stay in town and dont want to break the bank, then this may do you nicely. I would come back and have recommended this place to friends who want to spend their hard earned money on transport/ touring and food rather than accomodation.

Stayed in a single room and booked through the website. I didn't get a reply at first so I gave them a ring and from then on just used email to get in contact, everyhting went pretty smoothly.

The room was clean and well furnished with a separate bathroom, which was also very clean (no shower cubicle though).

The hotel is about 5 mins away from "pub street" (walking) and you can rent a bicycle for $1.5.

Overall, my stay in this hotel was nice.

“Great Value for the Budget Traveler”

Mandalay Inn

Booked my room via their website with prompt response.

Mandalay Inn is a great little guesthouse well worth it's cost.
Stayed from 8 December through 11 December in room 204.

Guesthouse grounds are very clean. Reception desk sits outside and is staffed by efficient and capable staff. Restaurant has indoor or outdoor seating and is staffed by an equally capable staff. All are well aware that customer service is number one. Extent of menu is simple but more than adequate. Khmer, Thai/Asia, Vegetarian, and Western foods offered. Most menu items cost less than $5/USD. They do also have sitting area for guests to congregate and chat. Really family oriented style. Nice atmosphere.

Room was spotless and roomy. Two very large windows. No view, no problem. Nice drapes. Good strong electrical lighting. Very powerful multi-directional ceiling mounted fan and air conditioner. Fan so strong that it blows paper items around room if not weighted down. Nice after a hot day at the temple grounds.

Bed very comfortable and soft. Nightstand, small storage shelf and television. House slippers. One standing coat rack for hanging clothing.

Bathroom immaculate, functional and larger than most hotel bathrooms. Large mirror, sink and toilet. Open shower with lots of hot water, no problem. Linens, towels and small bar soap provided. All for $15/USD a night.

In my humble opinion, a great value for so little price.

Conveniently located a five minute walk away from the noise of
the main street hotels, other guesthouses, traffic and bars. Safe, clean and good service. Will use this guesthouse again.

“Good enough”

Very friendly and helpful staff. You can even email them to arrange everything for you, from airport transfers to bus tickets etc. Very efficient boss.
Rooms are very basic & small but clean. Wished however they will have a cover for the blankets, and change it daily, as one of the blankets was rather dirty in my room.
Air-con rooms are double the price of a non-air-con.
Located close to the old market so very central. The lane where this hotel is located is a dirt path, so very dusty as lots of motorcycles go past it daily.
It'll be great if the breakfast is included in the price quoted.
Breakfast at US1.5 is eggs+sausages+toast+coffee.
Internet facility is available at US$1/hr (standard in SiemReap).
