“Goodbye to the best hotel in the world”

I have stayed here many times over the last decade, sometimes with my partner, sometimes with the kids, but have always had an exceptional stay. Everything about this place hit the right note for us. extremely relaxing, from the pool bar, to the pool, to the grassed area with a cold drink, to the Coco Cabana bar, and onto the chairs in the sea. Inside the rooms were great, staff very friendly, and the restaurants were really top notch. So I write this full of nostalgia, as the best hotel on the beach is, to be blunt, being flattened in August to make way for new development.

I have happy memories of this place, of chilling relaxing, enjoying the ambience, we never left the hotel during our stays, everything we needed was right there, so I feel a little sad. I looked over it for last time and found it hard to believe that a hotel in such good nick, and so popular, was being razed to the ground within weeks.

Such is the development in Dubai I guess, but I thought that would be one little 'oasis' that would remain untouched, sadly its not the case.

Time to mingle with the suits and the snobbery at one of Jumeirahs more 'accepted' hostelries, but even though Ritz Carlton, Hilton, Madinat and the other boys probably have great accommodation, the Oasis Beach was more than that, it was a regular home from home, and I wil miss it immensely.

Bye Bye to the best hotel I ever stayed in.

“Great Value for Money!”

Oasis Beach Hotel

4 of 5 stars
West Yorkshire
Jul 14, 2008

We stayed at the hotel for 4nights last March, on the first part of our holiday. We were picked up from the airport by a 7series BMW as the car that was supposed to pick us up was caught up in traffic.

The transfer was mind blowing in so much the significant amount of building work - if it had been any other destination in the world, you would have been advised against travel. In fairness, it did not affect our holiday at all, even though they were building opposite the hotel and we looked out on it, - they work 24hours a day!

Definitely go half board, as there is nothing really directly outside the hotel. The half board, also entitles you to use the 2 A la Carte Restaurants, at no extra charge, though do book early in the morning as they are popular. The buffet main restaurant in the evening is great, good selection of hot food, which is replenished frequently. We went on a half day tour, just to get our bearing etc, visiting local cultural sites and the gold souk. The hotel also offer shuttle service to the Mall & Souk and can be booked through reception. We returned to the Gold Souk and brought a lovely bracelet, barter hard and you will get a bargain or two. I went to the Mall but did not really find anything much - but thats a personal opinion.

Rooms were of a good size, functional and adequate. Sunbeds around the pool, gardens and beach are plentiful. Due to the time of year we were there, it was a little cold in the sea, and in the distance you could see cranes with the start of the Palms etc.

Would we return to Dubai, - yes, we would, but perhaps in a few years when the building work has settled down.

The hotel does really offer good value for money, and is a good 4 start hotel.

“can't fault this hotel///go 1/2 board though!”

Oasis Beach Hotel

Jul 1, 2008

Visited the Oasis beach June 08. Excellent value for money! the food is by far the best that I have has in the hotels. The staff are very happy to help and will do all that they can for for you - my only downside to this hotel is the way in which some of the customers treated the staff there!

We went half board, which was excellent (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)! We had a buffet breakfast which was extensive and varied and then we had vouchers to use at any of the four in-house restaurants for either lunch or dinner. We chose from the same menu as everyone else (£50-£80 per 3 course meal) and all we paid for were our drinks (£2+)...fantstic food again with top notch service at all times...we loved the oregano and the staff there...the cocktails are great and the chocolate fondant was out of this world.

The salon was good value and (£10ish for a manicure) and the little extras were nice such as the free shutttle bus, the gym, chocolates in the room and free water delivered each night.

I can't tell you why it would be a 4*, we were next door to the hilton and the sheraton and we couldn't find any major differences apart from the money we paid! I read some reviews that described the hotel as outdated, but it really isn't. The problem is that they have thrown up so many state of the art, modern buildings in the last couple of years that anything around them looks a little bit tired.

Everything was fairly priced for this level of hotel, the only problems that we faced were the building site that Dubai is...you cannot walk around anywhere, it is the most pedestrian-unfriendly place that I have ever been, but the free shuttle bus and the very cheap taxis counteracted that in a way. You can also walk to the marina from the hotel if you don't die of heat exhaustion 1st - Don't underestimate how hot people say this place is!!!

You can use dollars or UAE currency pretty much everywhere, the best thing that we did was to take plenty of sterling and change it as we went in the millions of exchanges around (especially in the malls).

I would recommend this hotel to anyone without a doubt.

“Good Hotel, Great Location”

Oasis Beach Hotel

Jun 30, 2008

The oasis beach hotel is centrally located so great for access to wild wadi and the mall of the emirates. We upgraded to a sea view room, and the room was fabulous. Biggest hotel room we have ever stayed in, it had its own kitchen (although not used!) , big balcony, bathroom, dining room table (!) and further seating area. The food here was nice, the beach restaurant being the best in our opinion. The pool was fab, lovely and refreshing in the blistering heat! Staff nice, although be prepared as they will tempt you with an upgrade! and the charge for half day late checkout was extorniate. On the whole, a nice stay.

“Great Hotel”

Oasis Beach Hotel

I stayed at the Oasis Beach for 2 weeks in June and have to say how impressed I was.

As its the only 4 star hotel on Jumeriah Beach I was a little unsure what to expect - It turns out I had nothing to worry about!

The hotel was more than OK. The rooms were slightly dated but perfectly comftable. I had a landview room and it was fine. Not noisey and the views were nice.

The resturants are all well presented and offer a good choice of foods. I would advise a half board option though as if I had to pay for the meals every night I would have spent a small fortune! On average a 3 course meal for 2 worked out at around £150-£200!

The pool and pool bar were basic but large and there was always a sunbed free. The only days it got partically busy was a Friday and Saturday when the locals are allowed to use the pool. Still, there was always somewhere for guests to lie.

The beach area was lovely, and the lifeguard on duty was a nice touch. It looked slightly crowded most of the time as there are LOADS of sunbeds along the beach - they were mainly free though.

The staff there were all friendly and willing to help. The service they provided was 5 star easily!

All in all I had a great time and would definately recomend it as a cheaper option than the 5 star places in the same area. I got the same service as a 5 star hotel for a fraction of the cost! Its such a shame they are pulling it down in a few months to make way for another 5 star. The Oasis Beach was a great choice.
