Where to begin...
This hotel is truly exceptional, from the moment we walked in we were absolutely in awe with the architecture of the property, the interiors and of course the lobby! Everything was immaculately finished and maintained... the gardens were amazing and all the various water features, were impressive.
The room - we were in a Grand Twin room and this was really nice and suprisingly big. Another reveiwer has advised that the rooms in this place were small - this is incorrect as they are huge! We had a small sofa in our room, with a desk and two chairs, generous storage area with a seperate walk-in style wardrobe. In the bathroom, there were two seperate sinks, a seperate large enclosure housing the toilet and bidet, a deep soak bathtub and a seperate large shower. All in all the rooms were impressive. We had a very nice view of the city skyline (with the Raffles and Wafi City in the foreground and the buildings on Sheikh Zayed Rd in the background, inc Emirates Towers and the Burj Dubai). I would recommend this view instead of the creek view rooms, which I thought were not that impressive! Also, contrary to a previous review, the hotels rooms are now equipped with 26inch LCD Samsung TV's.
Breakfast at the hotel was plentiful and loads of good, well cooked and presented food. The hotel also serves pork, which is nice! They cater for an international pallette so there is Indian options, Arabic options, American, Continental etc etc... the Eggs Benedict was amazing, so was the sauteed shitake mushrooms.
We tried numerous restaurants in the hotel, inc IZ, Andiamo and Awtar. For evening time, Awtar was nice as they had live entertainment and dancers. IZ was overpriced, but nice food. Andiamo, cheap and cheerful!
The pool area is absolutely huge... i can see why they say its one of the largest freeform pools in the Middle East. The shaded pool area... and the kids pools have water slides and fun fountains etc etc... Another reviewer advised that they had problems with the sunbeds being too widely spaced out! This was not a problem at all for us, as the hotel within its grounds has loads of sunbeds grouped together. They even have canopies-four poster tents, that you can sit under.
Taxis from this hotel to anywhere are always less than £10. For example... to go to Jumeirah Beach and the Burj it costed us 45AED, to go to the Gold and Diamond Park it costed 40AED, to go to the Gold Souk it costed 25AED etc etc... so its pretty cheap compared to UK standards.
In sum, this is an exceptional hotel that lives up to Hyatt's international reputation. The hotel is very large, so make sure you familiarise yourself with the place.
