“Best Weekend Trip Ever”

Annapolis

We spent a fabulous weekend in Annapolis...everything and everyone we met went out of their way to make us welcome. We stayed at the O'Callaghan Hotel on West St, a short hop from historic downtown..
easily accessible by their shuttle. The hotel was very nice, and the staff was fabulous...every single staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful-it was clear to us that they respected us as guests, and would go above and beyond to make our stay memorable. We found some great little places to eat and drink-Chick & Ruth's Delly(sic) was worth the wait in the morning-just crazy busy, but the staff was extraordinarily efficient in such close quarters...evryone had a smile for us-the manager resolved a minor problem graciously and quickly-it was so much fun watching the staff work..and the breakfast was terrific..we went there again for lunch and I had the best Reuben ever! We found a great little joint downtown called Armadillos--the perfect place for Red Sox and Patriots fans(the owner's from Quincy, MA). Brendan treated us like we wre old friends..we went to watch a Patriots game-he went downstairs and carried up a table and chairs for us so we could sit and watch the game-the place was loud and fun and friendly. Camden Yards was about 30 minutes away-we got lost getting there, but it was worth it...what a fun place to see a game..tons of Sox fans...great vendors.....
parking was inexpensive, but it was a long walk to the Park..(we parked at the Ravens football stadium for $10.00)....Alamo car rental was inexpensive...check in and out was a breeze.

Annapolis is a charming, quaint nautical town with historical architecture, a thriving harbor with boutiques and shops and a laid-back, relaxing character. Though conveniently located near Baltimore and Washington DC, Annapolis and its 35,000 residents have retained Annapolis’ small-town appeal. As the home of the United States Naval Academy and the First peace-time capitol of the United States of America, it is an inspiring place to learn some American history and sightsee. Annapolis is famous for its historical love for the water and sea-faring. Boosting an active harbor, sailing lessons, and fishing boat charters, Annapolis provides multiple opportunities for visitors to venture onto Chesapeake and enjoy the nautical spirit. Land lubbers will take pleasure in Annapolis’ pedestrian-friendly downtown. Visitors stroll down the main streets, browse at area shops and handicraft stores, or take an organized walking tour in order to learn about Annapolis’ rich colonial history. The State House, renovated colonial townhouses and Navy campus are all essential ‘must-sees’ to complete the Annapolis touring experience. Others choose to roll up their sleeves and relish some of the region’s famous fresh crabs and seafood at one of the traditional seafood haunts on Main Street. After a satisfying meal, revelers enjoy kicking back with a brew at the numerous ale houses and Irish pubs throughout the downtown.

“Annapolis is for art lovers!”

Annapolis Maryland is a small town where everything is in walking distance. However this town boasts 20 galleries, an opera, chorale, symphony, several resident theatre companies, film festivals, an arts educational center and a dozen places to hear live music of all types. Not bad for a small town better known for its sailing. My favorite gallery was ARTFX it featured local artists, Ramshead for live music and Maryland Hall housed many of the performing artists groups.
