Stayed here for 4 nights in May 2007 and it seems to be maintaining the excellent standard. A good example of their attention to detail. Unknown to me they picked up from my passport at check in that it would be my birthday whilst I was with them. At breakfast I received a chorus of 'happy birthday' from the waiters - and found a small gift in the room later in the day.

The buidling is beautiful and whilst not the cheapest in town it is probably one of the very best!

beautiful lobby and grounds but it is just a little dry on the cultral side. we normally stay at b&b's and this was a little to corporate for me. the only bad thing i have to say is that as we were checking out the cashier tried to short us $100 and the manager had to come out and correct the problem. if you are looking for a cultural experince try a smaller privately run place.

“Great New year”

Libertador Palacio del Inka Cusco

Feb 28, 2007

We stayed in Cusco to receive the new year with friends from the USA.
It was a pleasure to be in Cusco in that occasion, the energy of the place is incredible. Our friends had some ``soroche´´ problems but nothing to worry about.

Check out (---) and cusco.net for more info. Really worth it!

“Best hotel in Cusco”

We stayed at this hotel for five days just before Christmas. We had a suite, which was very spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was a good size and well equipped. The staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was excellent. We have to disagree with a previous posting - we didn't find the nativity scene trashy, or the furnishings tired and tacky. The run-up to Christmas in Cusco was how it should be, family orientated and not overly commercialised as in many western cities. Check out was quick and efficient.

Our suite did overlook a noisy street, although this was only a very minor niggle. We got used to the rumbling traffic and to be honest it didn't bother us too much - we were out most of the time anyway.

We did consider staying at the Monasterio, but after having a look round while we were there, we were glad that we'd chosen the Libertador. The Monasterio, whilst a lovely hotel, felt a bit claustrophobic and stuffy. We made the right choice for us.

We intend to return to Peru in the future and to Cusco. We loved this hotel and won't hesitate to stay there again. In our opinion, it's the only place to stay in Cusco.

“Splendid Libertador Hotel”

Libertador Palacio del Inka Cusco

We stayed at the Libertador for two nights after visiting the sacred valley and before visiting machu picchu and one additional night on return from mp. This was one of our updated optional choices arranged through Condor Travel for our semi-inedependent 12-day stay in Peru last Easter described in other hotel reviews. We had a good-sized modern room , including several chairs, a table, and a mini-fridge, with a small balcony that fronted on a quiet side street with a view of archeological temple ruins that were under excavation. The room was soundproof and as quiet as a churchmouse. Room safes were not avaialble so we used the hotel safe behind the front desk, a simple well handled process. The hotel itself has a very nice restaurant with evening musical performances and a less formal restaurant with a smaller menu, both of which offer good reasonably priced meals, a pleasant interior courtyard, and incan artifacts at various first floor locations. Complimentary Coca tea is avaialable in the lobby all day. The staff was extremely accomodating, particularly when on an unexpected return visit from mp due to an emergency-a nosebleeed that had to be cauterized and required med evac from the ruins because the sole m.d. at the ruins could not solve the problem--(we returned 2 days later) our reservation could not be easily located. The hotel entrance is directly across from the Koricancha temple ruins,a tour of which is a must for your visit. It is about an easy 10 minute, 4 block walk to the center by the cathedral and about a 10-15 minute walk uphill to several major museums, and about a 10 minute taxi ride to the mp train station. The square of the hotel also has several gift and convenience shops where you can stock up on water, snacks, etc. Overall, one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in during our diverse travels.
