We found out about 1BnB on trip advisor and after comparing other places to stay in Singapore - we just couldn't go past the great reviews and the price.

Over the course of our 5 week holiday - we ended up staying about 12 nights at the BnB. We pretty much used Singapore as our base for travelling between Malaysia and Thailand. Besides which there is a lot to do in Singapore!

We stayed in the main apartment (106 on the 25th floor) in three different rooms - the first time was in the en-suite room, the second time in room 7 which is small and off the dining room, and last we stayed in room 4 which is large and comfortable. Rooms 4 & 7 had shared bathroom facilities.

Book in advance if you can - it's worth it because you might just be able to get into the ensuite room. If you're travelling in a group and one of you gets the ensuite then that would be a real plus too - as you might be able to share it between you and won't have to lurk around the shared facilities trying to jump in as soon as it's free!

The breakfast is basic and bland - maybe an egg, toast, "sausage", orange drink (not juice) and coffee - but it's only $5 per room and just getting something in your belly before you go out is nice enough. Mind that some of the staff are better cooks than others - and you get what you're given - no variations!

The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. They are all airconditioned and all a/c we had worked well. Towels were average to poor, no hand towels, face washers or bath mats. It's one towel each per day and that's pretty much it.

We found no problem with the other people staying there - in fact over breakfast we met a wide variety of people from Israel, Russia, Korea, China, New Zealand, Austria, USA, England, Ireland...which always made breakfast interesting.

Bathroom facilities - the ensuite is great. Shared bathroom in 106 is acceptable - basic, quite clean and useable. I can't comment on the hot water - as the tap water was hot enough for me.

There is a second communal bathroom tucked away off the kitchen in 106 - which is supposed to be available to all guests - but is mostly used by the one long term resident of this apartment. It's cleanliness and general state reflects this - and it sort of feels like you're going into someone's private space. Useful though if you have to duck to the loo while someone's having a shower in the other bathroom.

The apartment is located in a group op residential HDB buildings. There is a bus a 2 min walk away which can take you almost anywhere in Singapore for between 90c-$1.50SG and the MRT is everywhere. Literally. We also found that within walking distance there is so much to see.

We often had a quick and cheap dinner at the Everton Park food court - just walk through the lanes or straight down Everton Rd which run parallel to Neil Rd/Eu Tong Sen Rd and you really can't miss it - if you walk too far you'll get to Tanjong Pagar or Chinatown anyway. A simple dinner of Murtabak, Kopi Peng and fruit was about $4.50SG each.

The busses are quicker and cheaper and closer than the MRT sometimes - if you're going to Vivocity, Harbour front, Sentosa or to Raffles, Clark Quay and Suntec City in the other direction.

We found that cutting through the back lanes on foot to Cantonment St and catching the MRT at the Police building was much faster than walking out to the main road.

Price is the biggest factor for staying here. Don't expect a hotel. Don't expect a traditional BnB. It's more like being a lodger really - but not in a bad way. It's clean, cheap, safe, spacious, comfortable and fairly well located. But if you want to stay right in Orchard Rd and the hustle and bustle of Singapore - then this probably isn't the place for you.

Another tip - check the cancellation policy before you book - it isn't published on the website - and frankly it's a little bit ridiculous. Be very precise with your payments/deposits as getting any money back from the owner was impossible for us.

This is great spot to stay. If you book ahead you can get the bedroom with ensuite as we did, other rooms have shared bathroom. Great views, plenty of space, free internet access, decent breakfast, and fantastic views from the top of this 25 story building. Kingsize bed very comfortable, room air conditioned with TV. We stayed two nights and will use in future when visitng Singapore. We got a little lost after getting off the train at Outram train station, but after re reading indtructions on the 1BnB website it was out fault. After getting off the train on the East West line coming from Changi Airport go down a level and keep walking towards the right this will bring you to the station that is on the North South line. When existing this station you turn right and are only a few hundred metres from 1BnB location. We paid $80 Singapore per night. You can arrive at any hour as there are maids who live on sight if you let them know you are arriving. There is a 24 hour eatery very clean on the corner as you walk into the accomodation block area. A taxi is easy to get as they are always driving past the bottom of 1BnB. We hailed one at 4.45am no problems. Check the 1BnB webiste out at: http://www.1bnbsingapore.com/

I stayed in 1BnB with my boyfriend when he came to visit me in May 2007. Unlike the last reviewer, we found the apartment to be very peaceful and did not hear any port noises even with the windows wide open (we loved the view of the sunset). Jennifer, the owner, and the maids were very friendly and patient even when we had to check in at 1am because of a late flight. Both rooms we stayed in and the en-suite and shared bathrooms were huge and very clean. Compared to the cheapest business hotels in Singapore that cost about S$100 and above a night, 1BNB is a great bargain and offered way bigger rooms.

The FREE internet was available on a computer in the main hallway in both apartments, and my boyfriend really enjoyed toying with his PSP internet browsing by connecting wirelessly. The cable channels on tv offered a good selection of English and Chinese channels.

The location in Tanjong Pagar is very conveniently located about 10 mins walk to the underground train station, 15 minutes walk to Chinatown and about 15 minutes away by taxi to Orchard Road and the Central Business District.

There were some strange characters staying in some rooms, but we saw them rarely and never felt the fact that the rooms were fully occupied. One problem we found was that the central water heater supplied the ensuite bathroom as well, and as the switch was located outside the shared bathroom, it was turned off sometimes by the other residents. Another drawback was that the furniture in the rooms were looking their age and the towels were bedraggled.

But overall, it was a really pleasant stay. I have already recommended this place to many visiting friends and we would definitely stay here again.

“Inexpensive but noisy”

1BNB rented out bedrooms in 2 different apartments on the 25th floor of a building in a residential compound. Two bedrooms had attached bath, the rest shared bathrooms down the hall.

The rooms and common areas were very clean, The maids were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very basic and skimpy. Internet connection was not available for rooms in one apartment because the wireless router, located in the other apartment across the landing could not reach that far. There was a safe but a note said "use at your own risk".

The area was very noisy with 24 hour humming noise from the boat dock. Even though there was a note to tell guests keep quiet by 11:00 pm, early morning noise was what bothered us. Cooking noise, bathroom flushing, people talking could be heard through thin walls even though we had the A/C on.

We would not stay there again even though 1BNB is a relatively inexpensive lodging in Singapore.

“a good cheap place to stay”

A great little find in singapore.
Stayed in the bnb for 7 nights and cant really complain about the place.
its on the 25th floor of an apartment block and the views from the room are stunning.
the rooms all have a nice large double bed which is extremely comfy, cupboards, TV and air con.
stayed in both the ensuite room which is just great and also in the non -ensuite rooms (theres only one room with ensuite and as you can imagine extremely popular!!).
Breakfast is cooked fresh for you in the dining room by the maids, and although basic its a good start to the day .
the owners are extremely polite and made us feel so welcome that it really did feel a home from home and it was just perfect for a budget stay.
NO curfew!!
locally theres a few bus stops and the nearest MRT (outram park) is about a 10 min walk from the hotel. bus stops are close by too. And if your planning on going to Kuala Lumpur the train station is like a 5-10 minute walk.
Nearest hawker center to be found is in chinatown which is about 15-20 min walk which is not too bad.

in the bnb theres internet access 24 hours a day

the worlds largest and busiest port is quite close to the hotel but its not that noisy (i thought anyway) so dont worry about being disturbed at night, just close the windows and turn up the air con!

Bad points
To have a hot shower you have to turn a switch on which is fine available 24 hrs a day, BUT whilst in the ensuite the switch is outside the room and someone kept turning it off...So ended up having many cold showers!!
Breakfast although good can get quite boring, esp if your vegeterian as i am but id rather have a boring breakfast than no breakfast!

otherwise, getting to the hotel from changi airport is very easy and i would recommend a cab for the journey and should cost around 20-ish SD.

perfect for couples, families, budget travellers (ensuite around £20-ish and non-ensuite around £17, both with breakfast included; i know they are reviewing prices but this was what i paid)

Other than that enjoy your stay!!
