Singapore is a beautiful, but expensive town, especially for a budget traveller or backpacker. However the Harbour Ville Hotel, offers good value and is clean and friendly. We paid $40 a night through Asiarooms. It is not luxurious, but doesn't claim to be. Our room, on the 8th floor, had a relatively comfortable bed, tv, fridge and lots of storage space, as well as basic but clean ensuite bathroom. All linens and towels were changed everday and fresh bottles of water are left in the room, along with tea and coffee making facilities.
The hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk (turn right from hotel) from the Harbourfront MRT station, which is also where you can find the huge Vivo city mall, and the entrance to Sentosa. Buses are also plentiful, and go from outside the door.
The breakfast is not great, but is edible and there is plenty of it. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, as are most people in Singapore.
Overall I would give this hotel a thumbs up.
