booked in to executive 7th floor with park/motorway view. this floor just has executive rooms- good size. floor has its own front desk, private breakfast room, free bar and snacks in the evening and generally you're looked after. rates about £80pn which i though was good value. location is just behind orchard rd and abt 2 mins walk to middle of orchard rd. 2 hawker food places near by and plenty of shops. 5 mins walk to 2 different mrt lines. would stay there again.

Spent 2 nights in the Holiday Inn and what a superb 2 nights they were. The check in was brill, no fuss, no hanging around, very nice and cheerful staff. What a beautiiful lobby with a big chandeliar, it was great. The room was very large with everything in that you would expect. The bathroom was quite large and everything was spotlessly clean, not a speck of dust anywhere. The bed was enourmous, king size plus half again. The breakfast was nice, a buffet breakfast with choice of cold and hot food and plenty of it. Again, the tables and the staff were very friendly. In fact only complaint we had was that the bar was expensive, but I suppose that is to be expected, but having said that not even 3 minutes away there were a couple of bars where you could sit and have a drink.

There was a pool with great facilities which we used, again towels provided for the pool area, which is really good especially as this is not advertised in any of the brochures or internet sites, something to bear in mind.

Would definitely go back there and would certainly recommend it whether you are a couple of have kiddies, superb hotel. Very close to Orchard Road, the main shopping area, but you could hear a pin drop in the evening it was that quiet.

Since our first stay with the H.Inn Parkview, we have been continously coming back to this fine Hotel.

This time our experience was different. We booked for 2 rooms over the hotel website, and requested for a connecting room. I followed up with an email requesting that the connecting room to be located on a non-smoking floor. Just so that we wanted to make sure all was in order, my wife called the hotel and they sounded surprised of our request. In their system, it was 2 rooms on different floors, and they cannot quarantee a non-smoking room.

Fortunate for us, the 3-hour notice was sufficient to reserve a connecting room, but was a smoking-floor. Permitted since we really wanted a connecting room. We were assured that the staff will clean and air the room - though it was done only for 1. The other room was not made up - and there were empty cups of tea and bottles lying on the carpet. The odour was heavy of a smoker, and the bed was clearly not made up. This discovery, after being handed the keys much later in the afternoon.

To say the least, we felt offended.

The shower head was not working well, and despite our several calls, an engineer was dispatched to rectify the shower. It worked - but only for a while. The subsequent calls were ignored. Perhaps they thought that it was fixed.

We certainly did not enjoy our stay as compared to the previous visits. And I made sure the Hotel Management knew of our complain through their Feedback Forms. I only hope that they will attend to this query, or otherwise a fine hotel would have lost its plot in becoming a potential top spot.

I must also add that the front-desk officer did his best to explain the "situation" together with a Complimentary offer of an additional house-drink by virtue of being a Priority Member did some good PR mileage - albeit left to the last minute before our checking out.

Flew into Singapore at 5am and decided to catch the MTR (rail) from the airport station to kill some time before attempting a check in or at least leaving our bags until official check-in time at the hotel of 2pm. The cost of the MTR was only $1.70 sing ($2.70 less $1 refund on 'recycling' your ticket at the end station) each as compared to approx $18 by taxi! - an efficient ½hr - 35 min by train , although it needed a quick change across the platform at 2 stations. The closest MTR stop is Somerset - with the hotel direction well sign-posted at the station. Crossing Orchard Rd, it was only 2 blocks to the right and a minute up a side-street where the hotel is on a parallel road: maybe 4-5 minutes walk at the most. Easy if you don't have a lot of bags.
Staff were wonderful; checked us in right away at 8am; so we could have a shower, a drink (free bottled water/ hot tea/ coffee) and a rest before heading out again to explore. There are 2 Indian 24 hr restaurants and convenience store outside the hotel, but at 7.30 - 8am the food street which is adjacent to the hotel starts bustling for the breakfast crowd. The food street consisting of 2 food courts, food stalls and about 6 full-service restaurants - no need to venture further.
Quiet room, large beds, large rooms, 3 minutes to Orchard Rd and pub transport to Singapore's tourist sights, what more could you want or need?
