We booked this hotel for (what was meant to be) our one night stop over en route to Thailand. Initial impressions are good, the lobby and reception area were nice and lively. Reception was cold and could not be described as friendly or welcoming.

The rooms are nice and large and very well appointed. our room had very high ceilings which added to the feeling of size. We had no complaints with the room and found it quite comfortable.

The location of the hotel is good for shopping and sightseeing tours.

I had some visa troubles trying to travel to Thailand so we had to stay in Singapore one more night. After travelling from the airport back to the city centre to the airline offices and back to the Orchard hotel, we were notably hot and sweaty and tired. we did not have a reservation, however as we asked if they had availability she took a looked at us disapprovingly then in the system, had a quiet word with her colleage and told us that they were sold out.

We later checked and there were rooms available online that night. I am very unimpressed with their arrogance and lack of customer service skills.

I have stayed in hotels much nicer than this and have never been treated in this manner... very disappointed.

We originally had a superior room booked for 6 days however these rooms have a quirky little feature of a large porthole between the bed and the bathroom, ok if you are travelling alone or if you want to watch your companion on the loo (not my cup of tea but hey each to their own). We upgraded to one of the new wing rooms which was great had a hugely impressive bathroom and incorporated breakfast evening cocktails and snacks the cost of the upgrade was £230. The hotel was easy walking to the big malls on Orchard Rd. Word of warning we left a cash deposit of £150 as security even though we had paid in full as we didnt wish to give our card details this was not offered back on checkout and had to be asked for. would i return? No but thats because i would never choose to return to Singapore.

We stayed in the Orchard Hotel as part of a SIA stopover package. The hotel is in a great location easy access to attractions, shopping and restaurants

We arrived early in the morning after a long flight and we were given a room immediately, we requested a non-smoking room, however the room smelled like someone chain smoked in there for about 2 years. The carpet was filthy with big black stains all over. I found this inexcusable and disgusting. I assume management doesn't read TA reviews because I know smelly rooms and dirty carpets have previously been mentioned. I did report my observations to the management before leaving, whatever that's worth.

Breakfast was good and was included with our package.

The public areas of the hotel appeared to be clean and well kept and I found the staff to be helpful and friendly.

I would not stay here again.

Location: Good location, located on one end of Orchard Rd, a 5-10 min walk from the MRT station.

Service: Average, not impressed. From check-in to check-out, I don't think I saw one smile from the front desk staff and barely heard any Hello's or Good Morning's. Bell staff were the friendliest and always offered to help when concierge were busy. Housekeeping barely speak English but always friendly.

Rooms: At first, we were placed in the Orchard Wing. room was a bit small, bathroom sink space was small, and shower was open with no curtains or door, but i loved the rainshower. amenities are decent. Beds in Orchard wing were small and our safe did not work, even after we asked Housekeeping to come and fix it while we were out. The second day there, we tried taking a short nap but the corridor was extremely noisy with the staff door opening and banging shut at least once every 15 minutes. So we complained to front desk and they upgraded us to a Superior room in another wing. This room was more spacious, bathroom was a lot bigger and there was a bath and separate shower staff. We stayed in room 750 with a view of the pool. beds were bigger, but my mattress was uncomfortable and i could feel the springs on my back! at least the safe worked and closet was bigger.

Facilities: We used the gym and swimming pool everyday. fitness center can be quite crowded with guests and their personal trainers. swimming pool size was very decent and it never got too crowded, but i think the pool needs to be cleaned as i saw some green algae growing in cracks on the side.

Food: We had breakfast every morning for S$20 (special hotel rate). good breakfast buffet with fresh fruit, Swiss yogurt, pastries, congee, eggs, sausages, etc.

Singapore Overall: We spent 4 nights in Singapore and did pretty much everything that one tourist could possibly do. Weather was quite warm and humid. Visited Little India (nothing to see), Chinatown (loved Ann Siang/Erskine roads and The Scarlett Hotel with the rooftop restaurant), City Hall areas, hotel hopping, Singapore Art Gallery (neat colonial-style building), Sentosa (nothing to do and barges disrupt the view!), Orchard Rd (some great malls like Takashimaya, Wisma Atria, The Heeren), Tanglin Rd (nice new St Regis hotel and some neat shops in Tanglin Centre), food courts and Lau Pa Sat (great food!), Clarke Quay... Overall, not too much to do but great food, good shopping, and good transportation.
